Sounds great! But I really want some Captain America news after all this Thor stuff, lol!

Phinehas: Why?

How can it not be great its not being done by a suit it is being lovingly crafted by a group of marvel comic book people . The best way to do it by far.

Why does HOLLYWOOD think the GENERAL PUBLIC are thick???

PPL will get truer versions of our comic book characters, just like the lame version sometimes HOLLYWOOD pull out??

ANIL @ Very cool idea, kudos man!!

if the leader is not going to be a villain in the avengers they need to make a hulk sequel now and get that villain out of the way because it was never explained to the average movie goer what happened to samuel sterns and i know we all want to see a sequel to hulk.

He sounds so pumped for this movie! I really like how involved marvel is in thor, it's great hearing updates from the guys that know the characters best.

Hoping for the best.

I have sat through 10 years of listening to stuff like this, and what I have learned is to simply wait and see.
Wait for the good spoilers before getting excited.

Can't wait for Thor, I just hope all this hype doesn't turn out to be just that, remember X-Men Origins: Wolverine? A lot of people were hyped for that until the screwed up Deadpool came along. Hoever that was FOX and this is Marvel, they know what they're doing. Plus if Blake has an appearence in the movie he HAS to be played by Hemsworth otherwise it looks stupid....

@ phinehas

i don't know, quesada isn't nearly as bad as we've seen in the past. his only real failing (in my eyes) was making j michael strazcinski change the story in One More Day. he's nowhere NEAR as bad as DC's Dan Didio. what a prick that guy is.

at least quesada has a HUGE love for marvel and really knows his shit!

CorndogBurglar - 11/29/2009, 12:11 PM
i think its going to be tough to sell this to the general public in all honesty. don't be surprised if the first weekend isn't a big seller, but then it picks up through word of mouth.

you have to remember that the general public has no idea how cool Marvel's thor is. most have no idea that he's (arguably) the most powerful earthbound hero.

unfortunately, its the same with captain america. the general public views him as a goodie-goodie toolbag. which he used to be until brubaker took over. so i'm kind of worried about how good Cap will do, too.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 11/29/2009, 12:21 PM
CDB: I completely agree with you about Quesada - One More Day was the only time that he's really failed in my eyes as well. Otherwise he's a great E-I-C who's done a lot of amazing work since taking over!
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/29/2009, 12:26 PM
yeah one more day was pretty weird, it felt like something DC would do! But other than that I love the guy, he's just so passionate about Marvel.
Upupandaway
Upupandaway - 11/29/2009, 12:33 PM
@CDB & joshw24: Plus, he can draw. I agree. Quesada has been a great champion for comics in general.

@CDB: LOTR wasn't known by the general public, but pulled in huge gross despite it being frickin' long. I believe the general public buzz will happen after trailers come out.
Upupandaway
Upupandaway - 11/29/2009, 12:34 PM
Plus, Thor was in Adventures in Babysitting! He already has some exposure. : )
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 11/29/2009, 1:09 PM
Upup, LOTR not known by the general public? dude that book is the 2nd best selling book of all time after the [frick]ing Bible!

I guarantee you the Thor we see will be a mix between Ultimate and Classic. They won't go down the whole hippie lunatic route im sure, but their will be no Donald Blake either(or, Thor will just take on this name as a cover but he will still be Thor and played by Hemsworth). And the look will probably be some type of combo of the 2 aswell.
CorndogBurglar

upupandaway

yeah man, LOTR was VERY well known. hell, i had to read the hobbit in 7th grade.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/29/2009, 1:22 PM
@ ror

yeah i think your right. it looks like the avengers movie will be a mix also. which is fine by me. why not take the best of both worlds?? (except fury lol)

@ josh

yeah, quesada is cool. and i really like his art too...except for that pic he did for Cap's return that makes him look like he's taking a dump :)
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/29/2009, 1:25 PM
@ morte

i think its cap and thor equally that will be weak links as far as the general public. iron man did good because the general public just didn't know him. but the general public hears captain america and they automatically think "corny".

everyone knew what LOTR was though. i don't think many people know about Marvel's Thor. but i might be wrong...
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 11/29/2009, 1:46 PM
Well Della, we know Blake wont be in it so that right there is something from the Ultimate version already! In truth, just like every other character we have seen on screen before, its not going to be anything but MOVIE Thor at the end of the day..and thats no bad thing to me:)
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 11/29/2009, 2:31 PM
Yes, thats a possibility, but what I mean is, the Donald Blake thats an actual separate entity from Thor and transforms into him will not be in it...
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 11/29/2009, 2:52 PM
haha, oh sorry is that what your doing with the Aragorn look? Look, the movie will be set in Asgard, then when Thor is banished to Earth he will meet Foster..Donald Blake doesn't have to exist solely because she does! He will probably take the identity of Blake but always being aware that he is Thor.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 11/29/2009, 3:12 PM
Its wierd because when I read the very first appearence of Thor in last weeks 'Giant Sized Thor Finale' Don Blake was the dominant personality just with the powers of Thor rather than now with them having two seperate personalities!

My point is that the whole Don Blake/Thor relationship is so pointless and confusing I'd rather they just stick with using Thor in the movie and forget Blake!
DDD
DDD - 11/29/2009, 3:17 PM
I have every confidence in Thor!

But hey! What about Cap America, indeed?

This is getting silly! There should
be some news about some of the casting
by now, I would think! What's going on
with Cap? It's like its just fell off
the end of the earth or something!
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/29/2009, 3:30 PM
it is weird that we haven't heard anything about the good captain lately.

Joe Quesada: Things are of course heating up with "Iron Man 2," "Thor" and "Captain America," as we're getting into a major areas of production on all three films.

First quote from the linked interview above... All. Three. Films.

We'll get an announcement soon. Patience. ;)
DDD
DDD - 11/29/2009, 3:58 PM
KeithM@ yes he said heating up in major areas of
production for all THREE movies but we've heard a lot about
IM2 and THOR but not a stinking thing about
Cap America except from we fans speculating! The
speculating's been going on for a loooong time now
and it's getting really old! Not a single thing about
Cap! Not one single thing from the guys making the
movie!

What the heck's going on? It's kinda strange, is all
I'm saying! Its like there's something wrong with the
Cap project and their just not saying...keeping awful
mum about it! They should have been promoting the heck
out of it by now!
KeithM
KeithM - 11/29/2009, 4:10 PM
Why? It's still nearly two years away from release.

Plenty of time to promote it. I'd be careful if I were you - you might burst something. :)

DDD - 11/29/2009, 4:16 PM
lol KeithM@ I'm all right! Just wish we could
hear just a little bit of news to carry us
along! I'm sure they're working on it! :D
