UPDATE: SPIDER-MAN Writers On Cast Rumors, Origin Story, And Tom Holland's CIVIL WAR Cameo
Before addressing the rumored Spider-Man cast list that's been making the rounds, the Marvel/Sony reboot's screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have confirmed that Tom Holland has already filmed his cameo in Captain America: Civil War. Check it out!
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have made it clear they can't say too much about penning the script for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man reboot because they are still in the early stages. They have not even met Tom Holland, the third actor who will be portraying the Web-Slinger on the big-screen. However, that will all change this weekend, or rather today, as the filmmaking duo has revealed in two more interviews that were both conducted earlier this week.
"We're going in on Friday to talk to Marvel and see all the materials and start talking specifics," Jonathan Goldstein told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his & John Francis Daley's directorial debut Vacation. Daley then reiterated the reboot has a "John Hughes take [with] Peter in high school." He added, "I think we're going to spend a lot more time on them in high school and deal with him being a real kid." "They cast a real kid, so we're going to write a real kid."
Speaking of "them," or rather some of the supporting Spider-Man characters, there was a rumored cast list making the rounds earlier this week and it had the likes of Billy Zane playing the Vulture. The cast list was not covered here on CBM, but John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have debunked its legitimacy during a separate Vulture interview. "We've discussed certain characters," said Daley, "but nothing is certain yet, for sure." He and Golstein also reiterated that they will be visiting Marvel Studios this weekend, and that among the things they will see is the footage of Tom Holland's cameo as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War. "We hear good things," said Goldstein. "We might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting." What do you think?
