The last set pictures for the much-anticipated Captain America movie, gave us a tease of what Marvel & director Joe Johnston have in store for out star Spangled patriot. Now these new set images, less substantial, reveal the near-finished progress of the Manchester/1940s Brooklyn transformation, and 1940s signs that'll make the false storefronts come to life. Take a scroll down to see the images, plus minor filming details for another location, and more.

Also, a local of the area near Pinewood Studios, where filming for Captain America have also been taking place, spotted a property of Red Skull's German army branch, HYDRA. A bit grainy, check out the side view of the 40s vehicle, where only the front end was seen in those recent set images.

Also, the Hackney Gazette confirmed a while ago that in addition to filming in Manchester, the Captain America production crew will also be shooting at the Hackney Empire, September 13-17. And now the Captain America Filming in Manchester blog reports that preparation has begun. And in the next few days, a load of 1940’s vehicles will be arriving. The blog also got a couple of shots of props being used.

It's unclear what exactly will be filmed at the Hackney Theater, but in reality, in the 1940s, the theater was a music hall. And it held varieties of entertainment involving a mixture of popular song, comedy and specialty acts. I have reasons to believe the scene coincides with THIS info, where Captain America (Chris Evans) & several other uniformed characters are involved.

Anyhow, look for Captain America: The First Avenger in theaters next year, July 22!

Something about that car just reminds me of the batmobile in the 1960 tv show. O.o
StuckInPanels - 9/12/2010, 9:31 AM
@Dynamo...yeah its a period piece and they are appealing to the comic vision

BlakeDeadly - 9/12/2010, 9:53 AM
I'm hoping it will be a great film though!there are a lot more films riding on it being a success, so everything crossed!;)

@LEEE @Ak87
I understand that but the way they put technology that seems ahead of its time and make 1940 cars look sleek just doesn't sit well with me. I was just hoping they'd give us a war movie.

It's like the Hydra agents look like something from GI JOE. I'm just affraid it's gonna turn out cheesy. Which is a shame cuz thats not what i want from a Cap movie.
DCMarvelFreshman - 9/12/2010, 10:05 AM
Thanks you guys! That automobile has the potential to be Red Skull's trademark vehicle.
Ryden - 9/12/2010, 10:18 AM
@Dynamo- Yeah but we've already been told by Joe Johnston that it's going to be more like Indiana Jones than a war movie, the war will be towards the end....think about it he's not going to spend the entire movie on the battlefield is he?
Dynamo - 9/12/2010, 10:20 AM
@Ryden
I know I understand that but I'm just saying I don't like the looks of the designs so far. Perhaps the lighting will make it look better. So far it seems really cheesy.
Hawksblueyes - 9/12/2010, 10:23 AM
This is going to be sooooo cool.
jazzman - 9/12/2010, 10:26 AM
like these pics but i agree the car looks to similar to the LXG car

@Ryden

i think Dynamo means the technology is too far ahead for a movie set in 1940s.
BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 9/12/2010, 10:40 AM
The car lookers like a cooler version of the Batmobile
JoshWilding - 9/12/2010, 10:44 AM
Very cool find DCMF! :) It all looks very cool and more importantly very authentic! I have a feeling that this might just be Marvel Studios' most interesting and unique movie yet...so far, it looking like the best anyway IMO!
skidz - 9/12/2010, 11:40 AM
Seeing as that's a HYDRA car, I'm banking a lot more of an attitude and a lot more hostility than the Adam West Batmobile. I think they've managed to find a decent middle ground between the period and the advanced tech of HYDRA.
redlion - 9/12/2010, 11:42 AM
Hi all, my 1st post on this site although I've been visiting here for awhile now. I'm liking the set pics and that Hydra car is awesome! I'm not too worried about the Hydra tech they've shown so far, based upon the comics, Hydra has always had tech that was farther advanced than what was contemporary.
Sto0pidpenguinpro - 9/12/2010, 11:50 AM
The vehicle looks similar to the Nautilus car from League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with a new paint job.

skidz - 9/12/2010, 11:50 AM
I can't wait to hear the engine in that thing!
skidz - 9/12/2010, 12:09 PM
Hopefully, comparison to the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen doesn't stick. THAT was supposed to be a period-science fiction piece, but it paid little attention to the PERIOD or the SOURCE MATERIAL. So far, it looks like Marvel learned something from that piece of garbage. Personally, the Nautilus was one of the few highlights of that movie. It was pretty badass and some themes never get old.
BlakeDeadly - 9/12/2010, 12:13 PM
Hi redlion!;)
xkot - 9/12/2010, 12:13 PM
I hear what Dynamo is saying, and I confess to a little fear of overreaching on the part of the production designers after seeing those Hydra cycles the other day, but that car ... if you'll google some of the roadsters and coupes of the pre-war era by Duesenberg, Hispano-Suiza, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, etc., you'll see that that car would fit right in with them. In fact, it's not half as cool and futuristic looking as the 1937 Hispano-Suiza H-6C “Xenia” Coupe.
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/12/2010, 12:27 PM
Nice
