Budget For the Captain America Car Chase Sequence In Manchester Revealed?

Check out a few images of 1940s vintage cars as they're being unloaded for the Captain America set, in Manchester, where the gaurding unloading them reveals the budget.

Just from the several images we've seen over the past few weeks, showing the Northern Quarter of Manchester as it transforms into 1940s New York, we see that Marvel Studios & director Joe Johnston are going to great lengths for Captain America: The First Avenger, and it's 1940s accuracy.

One might ask the price of having a few false shopfronts constructed with several other props to give the "Manchester" sequence, which consists of a dramatic car chase along with a simulated explosion, great accuracy. Well Mike Fryer of Captain America Filming in Manchester / Frostbite blog, says that he spoke to a security guard while unloading a classic prop you can see below, and he told him the entire sequence will cost approximately $26 Million alone.






According to Box Office Mojo, the budget for Captain America: The First Avenger overall, is an estimated $140,000,000. What do you think?

Firstly, great find again with these pictures DCMF! :) Secondly, that's one very interesting bit of info you've come across regarding the budget...I can imagine that the work on the street has cost a good amount but $26 million? Sounds like this might just be one of the biggest action sequences of the movie!

@JoshW LOL, Thanks bud, and I agree. For the first time I actually thought; A much bigger action sequence must unfold in the scene, because a simple chase wouldn't require all the detail that's been done, or that much cash. I hope the scene was worth the cost.

This better be a bad ass scene! You're right, it doesn't seem like a car chase only would cost that much, maybe there is much more to it than that.

That yellow traffic cone brings back memories of last Wednesday when someone stole my traffic cone. There is a special place in hell for people who steal traffic cones...

Umm, That might have been me that stole your traffic cone. I see traffic cones and I must steal them, I call it Trafficonecollectia T.c.c, for short. I was trying to build a shanty village out of traffic cones, I would offer to return your traffic cone but someone stole all them. there really should be a special place in hell for people who steal other peoples stolen traffic cones...
