Marvel Select Figure Modeled After THE AVENGERS' Mystery Villains Announced!

Marvel Select Figure Modeled After THE AVENGERS' Mystery Villains Announced!

Lacking any pics or details that'd give away the mystery alien enemies of The Avengers, Marvel Select have announced action figures based on them available for pre-order.

Roughly six months until The Avengers movie hits theaters, Marvel Studios has managed to do the impossible; keep the visual identity of the highly-anticipated film's secondary villains secret. While the main reason for that is they're fully CGI-ed, and reportedly in varieties themselves, we may have an early look via an action figure from Marvel Select; if they aren't already revealed prior to the figure's reveal. Sans any photos and revealing specs, check out the vague product description for the upcoming figure below.

A Diamond Select Release! Designed and Sculpted by Gentle Giant! We know who all the Avengers are in the new Joss Whedon movie, but who are their foes? Kept tightly under wraps, we've developed an all-new 7-inch-scale Marvel Select figure of one of them in secret, and now he's available for order! With 16 points of articulation and a detailed display base, this baddie will be the crowning jewel in any Marvel Select Avengers collection -- buy multiples to give the heroes a real fight! The Marvel Select Avengers Movie Villain comes in oversized collector packaging, and is only available on the specialty market! Release is 5/30/12.

Considering The Avengers is in post-production and has been for about three months, I'm sure there's a final render on the aliens right now. So with that said, it's likely we could get an early look, or at least a shadowed tease of the announced figures based on the villains at an upcoming convention or expo where the film will surely be promoted. However, it's also possible we'll get our first glimpse in the 2nd trailer, said to be released in January.

Marvel's The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.

I'm betting on a force of nature that Loki loses control over. But I want to see Loki standing on top of a pile of cars in the street, exclaiming to the Avengers something along the lines of Jareth's "I ask for so little. Just fear me (transforms into Iron Man), love me (transforms into Black Widow), do as I say (transforms into Nick Fury), and I will be your slave (transforms into the Hulk... with a smile)."

That would produce orgasms all throughout the world. The attendants would have their hands full cleaning up those auditoriums.

Namor set up at the end?? Who knows with Marvel these days.. I can't say I don't like their full throttle attitudes in film making. Whether they hit or miss they mI've forward only trying to improve the next one. Bring in summer 2012!!

Also, if Namor or any aquatic villain (synonymous with each other really) were involved, I'm pretty certain we'd have seen pictures of wet streets, wet actors, etc. Not everything would be CG, I'd hope.

People really want to see someone allied with Loki, because obviously we've already seen Loki as the villain of Thor. With the Avengers art poster/banner showing a respective villain from each characters' rogues, it kind of set that type of anticipation up for that kind of PRESENCE at the very least.

Still, apart from Magneto and a horrific attempt at Doctor Doom, we really haven't seen a reoccuring villain. Loki is something refreshing, AND he's a fantastic character. I don't think a super-villain would willingly ally with someone who plans to dominate the Earth, a god for that matter, and NOT expect to be stabbed in the back. We'd have to have someone as deceitful as Loki, and that would just get annoying. They'd be so busy fighting each other that the Avengers would just sit back in a rec room on the Helicarrier, watching, making bets.

Grounded...nah I'm pretty sure you're wrong, honestly. Yesterday TDKR was #1 on Yahoo trending topics. Avengers wasn't even top 10.

Why do i have a feeling the reveal of the baddies will be a let down? Too much time and anticipation's been built up.

"LMFAOOOO TDKR is releasing prologue's in IMAX and launching viral campaigns and the AVENGERS is releasing Toy's and 2 min rock music trailers"

Marvel has been making action figures from the getgo with their properties. I dont see why youre acting like this is anything brand new. And what was Epic about TDKR trailer? The earthquake? WOW. LOL.

Where the crap are people getting the idea that the mystery villain is Namor? The description for the secret villain toy said the packaging would be larger (therefore, a bigger character) and the article said the villain will most likely be completely CGI (if it were Namor an actor would portray him). And lastly, Loki said he makes a deal with the gangs of space in order for an army to rule Earth. I highly doubt the Atlantians would want to be ruled by someone like Loki and they don't live in space.

I honestly hope and pray it's Thanos.

Stop bringing TDKR in an Avengers article. It makes the people who are pumped for the movie look bad on the site. Anyway that Namor and Atlantis rumor could be true. Because in the trailer Iron man did come out of the water at the end. And the Levithian is a sea monster.

"Kept tightly under wraps, we've developed an all-new 7-inch-scale Marvel Select figure of one of them in secret, and now he's available for order!"

A 'he'...hmm. Think that closes the possibility of this particular villain for being a dragon or what...sort of. Not sure, but I indeed am never hoping for a giant dragon villain. Thanos, probably? We'll see.

After seeing EMH, Kang doesn't seem too far off as the dark hand behind Loki... But even on that show, Loki enlists some MAJOR help to cause problems for the Avengers.

Could be Annihilis, if he is not owned by Fox.
Also, Annihilis can make clones of himself. And maybe it's Annihilis's control rod which is firing at the cars in the trailer. Loki's army could be comprised of soldiers/creatures from the Negative Zone. Which means there is something for each Avenger to fight individually that suites their style of fighting and powers. If it is Annihilis, the leviathon could be a creature from the -ve Zone. Maybe the Avengers will have to stop the Anihilation Wave which may also threaten Asguard etc

Actually I think Marvel is doing a better job of not giving away the storyline of the Movie then DC you can almost put stuff together for TDKR we really don't know what to suspect for the Avengers we know who the villians are in TDKR the Avengers we don't
