Sitting down for a Q&A with Bloomberg, the driving force behind Marvel Studios Kevin Feige discussed the box office phenomenon Marvel's The Avengers, which as of Friday holds $832,443,000 worldwide. He also comments on the five movies that are in active development. Feige additionally answers whether he's keen on becoming the new chairman of Walt Disney Studios, following Rich Ross's announcement of his resignation last month.

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”--the super hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, & directed by Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble on May 4, 2012. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to "Marvel's The Avengers," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013!; and “Thor 2” on November 15, 2013.

It is a great summer or year for Marvel and I am very excited to TDKR in July. All CBM should be happy for all movies and not make this a Marvel vs DC. I feel as though Batman set the standard for comic book movies but Avengers has raised the bar for future movies.

Dr. Strange, Ant-man, In-humans and Hulk have all been talked about and i believe will be made. The Avengers have opened up the pocket books and opened the eyes of Disney and they want to profit from it all.

Nobody thinks they're gonna try and capitalize on Hulk's newfound glory with an Incredibly Hulk 2?

Don't care for Ant-Man at all. But if he's in there, I want him to somehow get stuck in Black Widows boobays.

I still think what should happen is Pym creates Ultron, Ultron flips, and then Ultron does something emotional to completely mess with the team beyond belief. He creates a android aka Vision that looks exactly like Coulson. I mean, can you imagine the emotional strength and impact of that? Everyone was so close to him, how much would it mess them all up to see Ultron using an Android of Coulson to try and destroy them? It's the PERFECT smaller, more emotional sequel.

@intruder I guess I wouldn't mind ol Hank. I just kinda feel like his powers might put people off a bit. There has got to be limits, even with Marvel. Just my take.

@intruder they kept refernecing coulson dating some cellist also...scarlett witch(vision's wife...a cellist). Nick Fury saying he lost his one good "eye"? i dont know...shit got me speculating lol.

I just got back from seeing it for the fourth time. This is truly something else, whether your a hater or not. If Feige is made the new Disney Head...I won't KNOW what to do. To a 40 year old guy like me, it's been Christmas every day since the 4th,and as a TRUE comic fan, I REALLY hope The Dark Knight Rises puts he icing on the cake of "The Geek Shall Inherit The Earth."

Could Johnny Depp inherit the role of Doctor Strange, and can he pull it off? Just asking. I think it "strange" that he's the "Lone" competition to 'The Avengers' this weekend and it would be a kick in the head if that were the case.....

Or maybe he could play the 'Rawhide Kid' and expand Marvel's horizons beyond the superheroic....

@BooYah Nah, the media blew that out of proportion. Bob Iger only said the sequel will eventually be made. Deadline declared it an official announcement, causing other sites to do the same.
MisterBabadook
MisterBabadook - 5/12/2012, 10:38 PM
Honestly, I think it's Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange. The two movies most needed to explain Thanos and how they stand a chance against the Infinity Guantlet, or am I mistaken?

@Rykoo, no dude. thts where Coulson switches with his Life Model Decoy to give the team the "push" it needed.
PeterDarker121
PeterDarker121 - 5/12/2012, 10:40 PM
@THEDARK I agree...it was awesome, but there are some who won't take any criticism about it whatsoever...but the same can be said for the first 'Star Wars.'

The fact is, there are a LOT of holes in the Avengers, but the juggernaut it IS has LESS to do with plot and MORE to do with the fact that this is a multi-layered film that the MASSES have been waiting for in our current popular culture. It's nearly 'critic-proof', as will be TDKR. These are the films that are the zeitgeists of our time. Marvel Studios is smart...and this film (and the reaction TO it)is NOT 'happenstance'.
BooYah
BooYah - 5/12/2012, 10:41 PM
@DCMarvelFreshman- Oh, my bad. That does sound like something the media usually does.

So we have 2 movies that are question marks I'm hoping one is Ant-Man and the other is Black Panther. Black Panther is unlikely though since we haven't even had a rumor of that happening. Who knows though Fiege could surprise us.
