Filming for Marvel Studios' Shane Black-directed Iron Man 3 installment quietly commenced in Wilmington, NC last week, Wednesday. And taking a break for Memorial Day weekend, the shoot picked up today inside the city's Cape Fear Club; scenes involving two cast members and roughly 20 extras. And among those two cast members was the 'Tony Stark' star Robert Downey Jr., spotted arriving to the set early this morning via WECT .

Film crews with Iron Man 3 wrapped up at the Cape Fear Club on Chestnut & Second Streets in Wilmington in about 3 hours; earlier than expected. Police and security guards kept fans back as crews filmed inside the Cape Fear Club. We've also learned that the crew is also filming scenes near Wilmington International Airport.

And Comic Book exclusively adds, We've been talking to some people close to the production in Wilmington and have confirmed earlier rumors that some of the film’s story will take place in Miami, Florida. At any rate, an unnamed, but trustworthy, source close to the production told one of our editors last night that he had seen emergency vehicles–police, ambulance and fire-rescue vehicles–emblazoned with logos for the city of Miami and Miami PD being unloaded from production trucks near the closed part of the set last night while crews prepared to begin shooting Iron Man 3 at the Cape Fear Club later today.

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

Hell, I'm surprised that Marvel has gotten such a big and very intriguing cast for IM3. But, hey. I'm all for this movie. Looks like next year will AGAIN be another treasurous year for all of us comic book fans. :D

@Spidey63 that's more like it lol
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 2:11 PM
Hell, once Marvel successfully accomplishes "Phase 2" of the MCU, just imagine what "Phase 3" will have in store for us. Maybe they'll go down the cosmic route more. Bringing/introducing us to many "cosmic-level" characters.

Of course, along with some magic....

;)

That's my office in the background. BB&T.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 2:16 PM
@53, Well, seeing as how Marvel Studios is just so darn good at keeping things under wraps (like, for intsance, Marvel Studios denying that Thanos wouldn't be in The Avengers, but he eventually was), I would say that it's a possibility that we might see a Bruce Banner appearance/cameo. 50/50 chance, we got here. Maybe or maybe not. I wouldn't mind having a Bruce Banner appearance/cameo. :)
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 2:20 PM
@Ha1frican - Haha, just helping out a fellow CBM member. :)
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 2:32 PM
@Durf - Back at ya, dude.

Kaboom! :P
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 2:38 PM
@53, Yeah, I could see that happenning. Iron-Man, War Machine, and Hulk teaming up. And just seeing Hulk flailing whatever opponent(s) like a rag doll would be also uber epic. Wishful thoughts. :)

TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 2:41 PM

Talk about Stark rejuvenation. Just when I was getting tired of RDJ's Stark; we get a new, yet consistent and less goofy Stark sacrifices himself in one of the best looking scenes in Avengers. Sorry Favreau, I still like your work. But phone-it-in-Fury and coconut and metal Iron Man got to me. Hey, I hear it wasn't your fault. Anyway, I hope Black continues to portray Stark in a more real hero manner. What Whedon did with him is so subtle that I can't really pin point it. But it made all the difference in how I was looking at the character.

And for some reason, I sense that Shane is about to make a totally different and surreal Iron Man movie without really having a reason to believe that. I know nothing of his work. Huh? Oh, really? They just told me he wrote The Long Kiss Goodnight. I can ride with that. Last time I underestimated a director for lack of gigs, his movie made a billion dollars in 5 minutes.

My only real Cons/Fears are more tech suited adversaries, the return of super silly Stark and my fanboy still can't rest without a little Mandarin. But I'm interested in this again.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 3:02 PM
@53, exactly, man. It did feel like it was more Marvel vs Nolanites than anything else. Seriously, this "war" should just end. We are getting some of the greatest CBMs in history and yet this "war" and all of these bickering is still continuing and it's just complete nonsense. Just accept the fact that no matter what, we all win when it comes to CBMs. :)
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 3:12 PM
@jonedc: LoL!! Sorry about that, man. This site ain't "child-friendly." :P
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 3:14 PM
@53, I can't quite tell, but is your avatar "The Gaurdians of the Galaxy"?
dracula - 5/29/2012, 3:36 PM
phase 2 has begun
soforizo - 5/29/2012, 3:44 PM
The jury is out on this one. The talk of having Tony being stripped of everything like in the cave of IM 1, doesn't sound appealing to me. I give Marvel props for the cast, but that doesn't guarantee success. We'll see.

And yeah, I can see it now:"Man of Steel is awesome! Nolan is God, all others kneel before God! He made Superman great, screw non-Nolan people!"-Man of Steel does well
---

I really hope you're wrong. The last thing I want to see is Nolanites invading Man of Steel with their brand of fanboyism.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 3:55 PM
@Durf - Thanks, man! Yours, too, looks sick. :)
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 5/29/2012, 3:56 PM
