Before filming kicked off for Iron Man 3, producers were already pursuing musicians for the anticipated film's soundtrack. Speaking with Classic Rock magazine back in May, Australian retro-rocker Andrew Stockdale, frontman of the Grammy Award-winning Wolfmother rock band, revealed they're in the mix.

He says his new five-piece lineup are ready deliver their third album after some contractual difficulties. And one track, tentatively called Ghetto, has been submitted to producers of the Iron Man franchise. “Only last night we were invited to submit and I had the perfect song,” Stockdale reports. “It has a big, slow, sludgy riff.”

Iron Man 3 won't exactly be the Australian band's first comic book movie feature. They also contributed to the official soundtrack of the third installment of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise. Anyhow, after many drastic lineup changes, in which critics blamed Stockdale for, Wolfmother also consists of Ian Peres, Vin Steele, Elliott Hammond & Hamish Ross. As the quote notes, Wolfmother's song hasn't been finalized yet. What do you think?

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.
