With only two days remaining until Sony Pictures' The Amazing Spider-Man opens in the U.S., the film premiered early this weekend for various countries overseas. And according to Deadline insiders, the Marc Webb-directed 3D reboot is already breaking box office records set by Marvel's The Avengers superhero ensemble.

Sources are telling me that The Amazing Spiderman swept the Asian box office this weekend. . In Korea the 3D film debuted to $13M. The sources say that India took in $5+M, more than Avengers, for the biggest opening ever there for a U.S. film.

Adding that The Amazing Spider-Man's opening in Hong Kong, Phillippines and Singapore have also been dubbed "huge," expect an update via deadline with exact box office numbers later today. What do you think?

Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held...a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story. On July 3rd, 2012, the untold story begins. And starring Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy), Denis Leary (George Stacy), Rhys Ifans (Curt Conners), Martin Sheen (Ben Parker), and Sally Field (May Parker), directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man movie is swinging into theaters in IMAX 3D!

I think spidey has a chance to reach 1 billion it has a better start than the avengers so far in some foreign countries
FightAs0ne - 7/1/2012, 1:01 AM
Congrats spidey!
Curmudgeon - 7/1/2012, 1:01 AM
The updated version of their article is a bit clearer. Both numbers were supposed to have commas after them.

So it's just $13M in Korea and $5M+ in India, which are both bigger than what Avengers opened to in those areas.

If, and I mean a big "IF" spider-man beats the avengers, then Marvel may have to go broke just to buy spider-man back and put him in the avengers. because "IF" this happens I think marvel has failed us seeing as how one superhero movie beated a movie with SEVERAL superheroes. but again it's just a very very huge "IF".
Webhead007 - 7/1/2012, 1:07 AM
spidey is one of the most popular characters in marvel so this movie flopping wouldnt make sense
Webhead007 - 7/1/2012, 1:08 AM
i think spidey will give the avengers a run for there money and MAYBE beat them
Webhead007 - 7/1/2012, 1:11 AM

I'll just post what I've already posted there:

My most anticipated movie of the Summer. I don’t have just the ticket for the midnight opening, I have freaking flight tickets so I can see this in all glorious IMAX 3D. I always knew that this would be huge. Getting reviews and word of mouth as the best Spider-Man film yet is only helping what it was obvious: Spider-Man is one of the greatest franchises of all time, one of the greatest superheroes of all time and my favorite character in fiction period, bare none.

For those thinking that “no one wants to see this”, brace yourselves. This will end up hitting hard and surprising a hell lot of people just like The Avengers did. Not as big, but I’m sure that people will be amazed at what The Amazing Spider-Man will be doing at the box office this week.
Batman27 - 7/1/2012, 1:25 AM
I think it just proves that no matter how great the avengers was there not bigger than Batman and Spider-Man.
SageMode - 7/1/2012, 1:25 AM
WEBHEAD007- "and if spideys doing this good so far imagine how batmans gonna do"

Batman doesn't have as much pull overseas as he does domestically. And international gross is generally where the higher gross is earned.

spideyboy - 7/1/2012, 1:26 AM
"The Little Spider That Could"
UncleJimmy - 7/1/2012, 1:27 AM
TDKR is gonna suffer for negative word of mouth.
Trailers looks like shit too.

Tasm looks so promising, can't wait to see it.
REDSTORM - 7/1/2012, 1:31 AM
I wouldn't doubt Spidey is the most popular superhero in Asia, but I bet that this will not reflect on domestic b.o. sales. It won't beat the Avengers.
BenderDickCumPatch - 7/1/2012, 1:32 AM
It's SPIDER-MAN goddammit who in their right mind thinks it would even get close to flopping?
He is massive overseas.
ComicBookKidUK - 7/1/2012, 1:33 AM
Already got my tickets for Tuesday in IMAX
iJackSparrow - 7/1/2012, 1:35 AM

FilmsFan - 7/1/2012, 1:40 AM
@Chap What ur saying is just SHIT!!
Ok! There is NO negative Word of Mouth for TDKR... 3rd Trailer of TDKR on WB YouTube channel has over 20 Million views with 98% likes!!
Thats called POSITIVE word of Mouth!
So Shut up & stop lying!

@0SageMode0 I agree; Batman is not that powerful than SpiderMan in overseas!
But it's powerful than Avengers.... Much more famous & powerful!
& TDK also did 1 Billion with mainly US success... This time TDKR has lot more Action: which is what overseas audiences are mainly interested & market has expanded exponentially in last 2-3 years since AVATAR, Pirates4, TF-3, HP-8 & now Avengers... hence its going to make a lot more than TDK!!
Hopefully!
thalidomide - 7/1/2012, 1:42 AM
Though I must admit the 3D gave me a headache after I watched the movie.
