First Official IRON MAN 3 Concept Art Released

Showcasing Tony Stark's new armor, and what'll be up for grabs at San Diego Comic-con, the first official piece of concept art for Marvel and Shane Black's Iron Man 3 movie! Check it out!

Kicking off promotional efforts for next week's San Diego Comic-con, Marvel has debuted the first piece of Iron Man 3 concept art by Ryan Meinerding. Featuring Tony Stark in what appears to be segments of his new extremis armor, and surrounded, check out what'll be given out as posters for the convention next week!



Considering there's an inactive URL to what'll be the official Iron Man 3 site, expect it to be launched amid the convention next week, July 12th! And the Iron Man 3 panel begins July 14! What do you think?




Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

Wow. I don't like that much gold in the arm and gauntlet but the design looks great. Maybe they will surprise me with the extremis concept as much as they did with the suitcase armor.

Interesting. I'm still not big on the apparent dominantly yellow coloring of this new armor, but we'll see.

I like how the new armor seems to be using gold as the background color and red as the highlight instead of vice versa this time. It seems like a cool nod to the old gold armor from the comics.

Ryan Meinerding is a great artist. Always wanted Iron Man's armor to have a bolder gold design. Ten Rings is back!

yeah still not enjoying the new armor.....too yellow and gold......ah well, I'm old school....and overall I'm very much looking forward to the movie and where the story goes, just not thrilled wit the armor designs so far...

Loving the concept art. Interesting to see Marvel is going the Extremis Route, though as long as Mandarin makes his debut I'll be okay

What's that whispy smoke? And why only one gold finger on the gauntlet? Very odd. I hope it's not that Extremis crap though. That's pushing the envelope a bit too much.

maybe this is the extremis technology, but the costume looks like the bleeding edge armor (his current armor) than the extremis

Awesome!!! Looks really cool! Also fücking Ben Stiller looks really menaning pointing that machine-gun at Tony.

Hopefully the gold doesn't overpower, but this to me is looking more like Bleeding Edge, which came after the armor he wore with the Extremis armor. Which I loved anyway so I'm cool with it. Anything will look better than the Marvel NOW! look.

Concept art looks cool. Armor looks interesting..now while I'm not a huge Extremis fan...I'll be happy when this movie busts the charts as well. I have ZERO fear.

@thalidomide - Well, seeing as how the armor looks pretty darn close to the Extremis (or Bleeding Edge) armor, I'm pretty sure that we'll get another awesome 'suiting up' moment.
