Zachary Levi Responds To THOR 2 'Fandral' Rumbling
While not exactly confirming his inclusion, Chuck actor Zachary Levi has responded to the "rumbling" that he'll take over the role of Fandral in the anticipated Thor followup! Check it out!
Not too long after actor Joshua Dallas confirmed he wouldn't be reprising his role in Marvel's Thor 2 followup as Fandral the Dashing, ironically, comedian-actor Zachary Levi was being re-targeted for his replacement. And while not confirming his involvement, Levi recently addressed the "rumbling" with the Huffington Post.
"There was quite a lot of rumbling that went on," Levi laughed. "That all of a sudden popped up. I was in Japan at the time and I was on Twitter and people started Tweeting me that Josh Dallas had to back out of the film and they were saying, “Oh opening! Opening!” And I think maybe my fans knew that I had to back out of Fandral back in the day, then they started this whole stuff about me in the movie."
"I can’t really comment on that at the moment, but I would be honored to be in that movie. I would be crazy honored to be in that movie. It would be this very amazing kind of kismet, serendipitous, roundabout way of being about to play the role as well. I have no intention of not acting. I’m constantly going for the roles that I can get & that I’m passionate about. It’s kind of 1 hand feeding the other. I think the more I can succeed in my acting career, the more exposure that gives to myself [...]. So I’m fully trying to do that."
Zachary Levi was originally up for 'Fandral' back in 2010, before having to decline due to a 3rd season of the Chuck series being picked up. The role was then given to Stuart Townsend, who then left the production days before filming began, citing creative differences. And eventually the role was given to Josh Dallas.
The Hollywood trades that revealed Marvel Studios were re-targeting Levi for Thor 2 also claimed that his talks were in an early stage and that negotiations had not yet begun. No word on its current stage. Anyhow, set preparations for Thor 2 is currently underway, under the working title "Thursday Mourning." What do you think?
Exploring Thor's relationship with the Asgardian all-father Odin, as well earthbound companion Jane Foster, “Thor 2” follows the God of Thunder to other worlds beyond Asgard and earth. With the Warriors Three tagging along, among other Asgardian warriors, more mythical Norse creatures are expected. “Thor 2” stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Mads Mikkelsen, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, and Ray Stevenson. Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones”) takes over directorial duties from Kenneth Branagh, who helmed the first “Thor” film. And “Thor 2” hits theaters November 15, 2013.
