Unexpected reports earlier this month had suggested that The Town director/actor Ben Affleck was on Warner Bros's radar to helm their long-awaited Justice League big screen treatment. However, it wasn't too long before separate reports claimed that Affleck's camp had declined the studios' offer. And now, while recently chatting with the Canadian press, via 24 Hours, Ben further dismissed his involvement with the DC superhero team-up.

“I'm not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that's how rumours get started. Justice League sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on.”

Okay.
TayDee - 8/24/2012, 6:47 PM
I hope he's not. A person who was embarrassed to be playing a comic book character, shouldn't direct a movie about a team of them
JULEZ13 - 8/24/2012, 7:12 PM
THANK THE LAAWWD!!! JESUS CHRIST!! Mmmm Mmmmmmmmmm!!!

Why does need to clarify anything, if hes not directing it hes no directing it, dont get back at the media, they half never know what the [frick] theyre talking about anyway.

But as far as the JL, i just hope they dont rush anything just trying to compete, take your time DC. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE!
CaptainKilgore - 8/24/2012, 7:19 PM
Good
TrueRedBlue - 8/24/2012, 7:21 PM
Thank God... I don't know why everybody got so excited about it. I mean, he's a good director, but for JUSTICE LEAGUE? No.
Besides, the Justice League movie is pretty much doomed.. I'm not a Marvelite, I'm just being realistic.
lapress - 8/24/2012, 7:24 PM
sooo.. he wasn't in talks at all?
Fogs - 8/24/2012, 7:29 PM
ok, case dismossed. called it.
CampBlood - 8/24/2012, 7:33 PM
good , nobody gives a shiz about your career anymore gigli
KingG - 8/24/2012, 7:36 PM
I think either

-JJ ABRAMS
-ZACK SNYDER (if MOS is a success)
-CLINT EASTWOOD (maybe)

would be other good choices.
Ceejay - 8/24/2012, 7:38 PM
I pity the idiot who takes the job directing those cheesy collection of old superheroes.
PantherX - 8/24/2012, 7:40 PM
Awesome. So back to the drawing board for JL film.
ThatOneDude - 8/24/2012, 7:47 PM
Ya WB could just have Snyder direct it... He showed that he can direct a team up movie with Watchman and large scale shit with Sucker Punch

Hes gonna have MOS under his belt why not invite the rest of the superfriends?
jessepostal - 8/24/2012, 7:48 PM
Still Don't get the hype over the town, or gone baby gone
KingG - 8/24/2012, 7:51 PM
But i think a JL movie would be huge success if put in the right direction and not looked at as just a comic book movie.
superotherside - 8/24/2012, 7:56 PM
Sigh. Was hoping for this movie to finally to get off the ground. :\
TinyBirdcage - 8/24/2012, 8:05 PM
What's with the sad Ben picture. You're assuming he's sad. That's how rumors start.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/24/2012, 8:06 PM
Thank God.
KingG - 8/24/2012, 8:07 PM
Hopefully this movie will see "JUSTICE" (get it) no, who cares, anyway, anyone who has doubts about this movie, just give it a chance, i mean if MOS makes a shitload of money and good reviews this can really bethe start of something BEAUTIFUL.
Superheromovies2000 - 8/24/2012, 8:10 PM
Let Snyder focus on M.O.S. 2 & 3...
mawilli4 - 8/24/2012, 8:15 PM
Hey now, just because Affleck isn't doing it doesn't mean it's not happening. Have faith. I hope they base it off of Infinite Crisis, but I know that's never going to happen.
KingG - 8/24/2012, 8:16 PM
mawilli4, good point.
JohnTom88 - 8/24/2012, 8:24 PM
"The Justice League" - how corny of a team name can you get??

Jollem - 8/24/2012, 8:27 PM
"the avengers" - how many people knew/cared about 'em before iron man 1? :)
JohnTom88 - 8/24/2012, 8:28 PM
"The Justice League" - Man-child best buddies
KingG - 8/24/2012, 8:29 PM
JohnTom88, really?!?!

Jollem - 8/24/2012, 8:31 PM
...about as many people knew/cared about iron man before iron man 1 came out :)
KingG - 8/24/2012, 8:34 PM
Jollem, amen to that. You cant tell me somebody knew who the AVENGERS/IRON MAN/CAPT.AMR/THOR was 5-6 years ago, everyone knows who the JL/SUPERMAN/BATMAN/WW/FLASH is. Hell, even my 2 year-old god brother knows who SUP/BAT is. NO SHADE TO MARVEL
KingG - 8/24/2012, 8:36 PM
But still the Avengers comments appear. HUH! my life
Jollem - 8/24/2012, 8:46 PM
@KingG - i'm 30 years old.(don't tell no one :) i have immersed myself in comics and other media since i was 4. i have known a lot of geeks over time and have not met ANYBODY ever who was an avengers fan(with their 100+ iterations). a thor fan? please. a cap fan? my little brother, that's it. a hulk fan? my older brother, some others, that's it. really? there was a huge, lifelong following for the avengers and iron man before iron man 1? nope. not at all. batman, superman and spidey beat out the avengers and iron man for fan recognization any day of the whatever
KingG - 8/24/2012, 8:51 PM
Jollem, right, thats exactly my point, i dont think JL is better than Avengers, cuz both are great comic books by the way, (just prefer JL/DC) i just think they have more street cred. JL are my idols. So it is what it is.
darkmetal - 8/24/2012, 8:52 PM
If they don't do some solo films 1st, they will have to waste time establishing the actors as the characters and telling backstories and origins all in one film.

WB making a JL film is like trying to run before you walk. WB can't even pull off solo films and they want to do the whole League?
And Nolan's films were not WB style filmmaking. A WB CBM typically casts only popular actors, and is developed in sync with Toy Companies and is full of one liners in a witless story. (Green Lantern, Batman films of the 1990's)
Marvel needed the failure of The Hulk to finally figure out what worked and what did not.
And Whedon got to work with Actors who already had developed their characters. Much of the film wouldnt have been possible without already having the characters down and some history to work with.

Unlike Marvel Films, WB is only motivated by money. Marvel Films survival depended on their films success, before Disney bought them. If they failed, they died.

The Justice League film could be the Titanic of CBM's and could drag the whole genre to hell with it.
mawilli4 - 8/24/2012, 8:57 PM
@jollem I may be in the minority. But I've been reading comics since I was 6 (~17 years) and I've always been a Cap fan. Iron Man, Thor? Not so much. But Cap yes. Probably because I used to watch the old movie on TV when I was like 4. my 1st comic was Cap # 287 with Deathlok. still have it. <3
SunSp0t - 8/24/2012, 9:00 PM
The town was great and I though he was a great Dardevil as well. I think he would do justice to the justice league film lol (Pun intended)
KingG - 8/24/2012, 9:02 PM
Ive kicked DC's ass plenty of times but i feel theyre trying. And at least were getting a JL movie, i feel spin-offs of the characters will be just as good as a build-up, we already know the JL's origins so why would we need an origin story of characters we've already seen 300,000 times.
KingG - 8/24/2012, 9:05 PM
SunSp0t, i tried that joke and it didnt even work for me, story of my life.
mawilli4 - 8/24/2012, 9:05 PM
@KingG AGREED! They need to do it like the DCAU and just produce individual stories, don't state if they're in continuity or not. Have the crossovers, etc. It would be fantastic. Keep actors, etc.
KingG - 8/24/2012, 9:18 PM
mawilli4, i know right, they blew me away with their animated universe, SUPERMAN: TAS then BATMAN: Tas and then BATS/SUPES: World's Finest a finally JL: Secret Origins, SPECTACULAR.

Also with their latest hits:

-ALL STAR SUPERMAN
-BATMAN: YEAR ONE
-SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC enemies
-SUP/BAT: APOCOLYSPE
-GREEN LANTERN: FF
-JUSTICE LEAGUE: Crisis on 2 earths
-JUSTICE LEAGUE: DOOM (friggn amazing BTW)
KingG - 8/24/2012, 9:19 PM
oh and I forgot WONDER WOMAN which wa really good.
mawilli4 - 8/24/2012, 9:21 PM
@KingG seriously they have not put out one I didn't like. The GL movie was better than the live action. haha of them all All Star Superman is my least favorite. I really want another GL one and a Wally West version Flash/Nightwing team up. it would be soo EPIC!
KingG - 8/24/2012, 9:26 PM
good point, especially about GL.
KingG - 8/24/2012, 9:32 PM
look at the time, its been nice debating with all of you i gotta go, see ya, GOD BLESS. ;D
Jollem - 8/24/2012, 9:34 PM
@KingG - true. i like 'em all, if i like 'em.

@mawilli4 - oh, fer sure. i acknowledge that there are fans of every character and team and whatever. but a big following for iron man and the avengers before iron man 1? you can't have me believe iron man 1 didn't help out for the avengers and iron man in general
mawilli4 - 8/24/2012, 9:40 PM
@jollem oh I agree with you. I was just pointing out exceptions! :)

The Big 4 everyone knew are Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, X-Men prior to IM 1 of course.
Vital - 8/24/2012, 9:44 PM
Haha still got some trolls trying to Marvel vs DC on here do we? I guess the banning frenzy didn't scare anyone lol?
AUSSYACE - 8/24/2012, 9:46 PM
Thank God...

I just don't think he's cut out for a JLA movie anyway...
Maximus101 - 8/24/2012, 9:50 PM
The comic "kingdom come" is amazing, if they made a justice league movie like that it would be epic!
REDSTORM - 8/24/2012, 9:54 PM
As long as Hans Zimmer does the soundtrack, I'll be satisfied with the film.
TheDetectiveComicRises - 8/24/2012, 9:55 PM
Well said Ben & with patience they will find the best director for the job :)
