The good guys over at Latino Review have once again succeeded in exclusively revealing confidential details involving Marvel Studios' upcoming slate. And this time, it's regarding the much-anticipated Shane Black-helmed Iron Man 3 “crisis thriller.” Revealing the name of Tony Stark's newest armor, which was first uncovered at San Diego Comic-Con, the site has offered details for the odd-looking suit's capabilities. Again, spoiler warning:

“The Extremis-enhanced bad guys under direction of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin villain are going to be too much for Tony to handle on his own, so he thinks ahead, thinks big and has a plan. Tony’s about to go out and fight some bad guys when he mentions the Mark XLVII to Pepper Potts. Pepper asks what happened to the other forty and Tony just smiles.

From the cockpit of Mark XLVII Tony is able to control multiple armors in battle. We over here at LR have been vaguely aware of an action scene where Tony was going to control multiple Iron Man suits (presumably they look similar to distract his enemies as to the location of kill-able Iron Man Prime), but the number 40 seems…awesome. 40 Iron Men.”

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Dale Dickey, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

TheSkywalkingKnight - 9/4/2012, 6:14 AM
Wow! Sounds crazy!
WolvieCBM - 9/4/2012, 6:19 AM

theboywonder - 9/4/2012, 6:30 AM
Damnnnnnnn should make for an interesting sequence
BattlinMurdock - 9/4/2012, 6:37 AM
This just means that the threat will be big enough for 40 Iron Men to have to take on.

That's, like, bigger than The Avengers.
hellfire - 9/4/2012, 6:37 AM
Just waiting for hulk v Iroman
R888 - 9/4/2012, 6:40 AM
I like what Im reading

dancingmonkey08 - 9/4/2012, 6:41 AM
40 Iron Men? Jesus, they are going all out

@grif

I agree his rogues gallery is repetitive as hell, and is pretty bad after the great ones already (and about to be) used but your Leader / Hulk idea isnt the best either. Each individual hero movies need to be about one superhero, save the crossovers for the Avengers

It really annoys me when tons of people complain about Iron Man 2 being solely an Avengers lead up but then keep saying Hulk should be in Iron Man 3 when he clearly has no place there

But even though I love Iron Man, after a potential Iron Man 4 (please be some sort of a Demon In A Bottle storyline), stop the Iron Man movies. move on to other awesome characters. Get RDJ to sign up to 3 more movies, Avengers 2, Iron Man 4, Avengers 3. Then let him be finished
GingerBird - 9/4/2012, 6:42 AM
Who cares?!!
JohnnyKrypton - 9/4/2012, 6:42 AM
Ass-ugly armor, imo
Tomontherun99 - 9/4/2012, 6:46 AM
Sounds pretty cool, I hope this isn't just shoe-horned in so they can make 40 different Iron Man toys though
Lozzy94 - 9/4/2012, 6:47 AM
40 seems way to much, especially since as far as we know the Mandarin only has two henchman(Coldblood and Firepower).
JDUKE25 - 9/4/2012, 6:48 AM
Sounds pretty cool. But yeah, grif has a point about them always having a bunch of ironmen in the fights.
JillValenfield - 9/4/2012, 6:50 AM
Oh wow, looks very futuristic!! But a trailer would also be great! Can't wait for it :)
Asterisk - 9/4/2012, 6:51 AM
So this is like a mixture of Armor Wars and Extremis?
JamesClement - 9/4/2012, 6:52 AM
Sounds pretty great. Those suits would have helped in the Avengers.
AmericanPsychoWolf - 9/4/2012, 6:53 AM
40 Iron Man.....We're all gonna die
ironkidd - 9/4/2012, 6:56 AM

Spidey91 - 9/4/2012, 7:05 AM
well,holy f*ck!
Mark 47 and other 40 suits f*cking sh*t up...AWESOME °O°
lntrn8 - 9/4/2012, 7:05 AM
hope this is not a movie/ plot centerpiece . . . "40 iron men". I love RDJ, at same time hoping to see more dynamic & different villains & heroes . . . other than variations of the iron suit (Iron Monger, War Machine, Whiplash-Vanko-Iron Suit, Hammer Drones).

Multiplying variations of the Iron Suit is not creative.

I pray Radioactive Man & the Mandarin aren't wearing any form of "Iron Suit" either.
comiccow6 - 9/4/2012, 7:10 AM
Awesome-sauce
Maxi91291 - 9/4/2012, 7:10 AM
I know its not very creative but how would you go
toe-to-toe against Iron man unless you are Thor or Hulk? in a spandex or leather suit?
GoILL - 9/4/2012, 7:14 AM
I think this movie is gonna be incredible.
TheBurnSays - 9/4/2012, 7:19 AM
Drone better! (said with russian accent)
marvelstudios - 9/4/2012, 7:20 AM
DAYUM. I WANT A FKN TRAILER
HAQ - 9/4/2012, 7:20 AM

Misterfan - 9/4/2012, 7:22 AM
uh oh starting to sound like Iron man 2.
Tony93 - 9/4/2012, 7:22 AM
Mark 47? Damn
ATrueHero1987 - 9/4/2012, 7:26 AM
@GingerBread If you don't care, then why the hell you even came to this article & comment?smh, lol.

IM3 sounds like it's really going to be action packed.
CapistheMan - 9/4/2012, 7:27 AM
Forty does sound a but excessive but I do love the idea. Kinda sounds like Armor Wars a little bit. It will make for some bad ass action sequences, I can tell u that much. I just hope they spice it up a bit so it doesn't feel like the IM2 finale all over again. And they should have the Mandarin storyline extend to IM4 as well. He's too big of a villian to just be used up in one movie.

Last point, I think the new Marvel NOW! black Iron Man suit is totally badass and I hope they adapt it for The Avengers 2.
Maximus101 - 9/4/2012, 7:30 AM
Damn that's pretty sick, cgi fest on the way! I sure hope this movie is awesome
sameoldthing - 9/4/2012, 7:31 AM
Iron Man 1 was AWESOME..Iron Man 2 wasn't as good but it DID NOT suck..Iron Man 3 sounds great but it remains to be seen & ANYONE who says they will wait for it on DVD is a damn liar.
DCjohnny - 9/4/2012, 7:33 AM
yup... 47 armors is way too much may 10 or 15 are enough.... come on .... two suits were enough for taking down all the dronz in iron man 2..... what is it an alien invasion that an army of iron man is required... lol
Maxi91291 - 9/4/2012, 7:34 AM
@dgabbor
Iron man is so much more than a robot.

Vanko was pretty much the guy who also hacked hammers network and War Machine was using Hammer tech.

You can do as you like, as for me, next may Ill be there in the best seats enjoing the show
Linta - 9/4/2012, 7:39 AM
this is pure awesomeness..............can't wait
Maxi91291 - 9/4/2012, 7:43 AM
"Tony to handle on his own, so he thinks ahead, thinks big and has a plan."

Now THATS the Stark I know from comics .... pretty much the Danny Ocean of the Marvel universe
ATrueHero1987 - 9/4/2012, 7:45 AM
and YES....I would LOVE to see the Black & Gold armor on the big screen one day.
ironpool007 - 9/4/2012, 7:45 AM
sounds like cool use of the armor to me.
Rage2099 - 9/4/2012, 7:50 AM
yes excellent bit of news, iron man 3 will be better than tdkr and better than iron man 1. this news is great to here, i loved the iron patriot/war machine armour and i was surprised to find i loved the new yellow suit of armour (the more you look at it the better it gets) and now this great bit of news confirming mandarin and 40 suits of armour (which Could/has happened in comic continuity) also the radiation man has been rumoured, so possible villians from the u-foes could appear for a all out brawl. now all i need to hear is that this main "iron man prime" will be the black and yellow armour (from marvel now) and this film will be awesome. if everything else falls into place this could be another avengers standard film from marvel.... imo
ACira - 9/4/2012, 7:57 AM
I really don't know what to expect with this... the first Iron Man film was great, it was a really refreshing take on the classic super-hero film structure. Then Iron Man 2 came out, and it recycled pretty much everything from the first film but not as good. And now from what we've seen and heard of this, it looks like it's set up to repeat that process some more, except now they've even managed to make the suit look ugly as hell.

The thing with the Mandarin is that he opens up the story to new possibilities because he's a completely different type of villain to Iron Monger and Whiplash.

But they're trying to cram in that Extremis crap which is just going to push it back into the rapidly deteriorating Iron Man formula... and as Iron Man is the only hero who has already had a sequel from Marvel, I can only hope that they don't handle their other sequels in such a formulaic way...

I mean so far all the first solo films and Avengers have been great, but when I watch Avengers 2 I don't want to just be watching the first film again with a different villain, and the same goes for Thor 2 and Cap 2... and I think Cap 2 is the only one that will certainly be very different, and that's because they're pretty much forced into setting the film 70 years after the first.

I really hope this film isn't a let down, but so far I have very little excitement for it. But I guess we can at least look forward to some great acting, I mean Robert Downey Jr's always fantastic, as is Gwyneth Paltrow, and who knows, maybe Don Cheadle will have more than three lines this time around?
Maxi91291 - 9/4/2012, 8:02 AM
Maybe one of those 40 could be the stealth armor
Dedpool - 9/4/2012, 8:02 AM
WHOA!!
ACira - 9/4/2012, 8:03 AM
And I have really mixed feelings towards this "40 armors thing" too, I mean on the one hand I love the idea of seeing Tony thinking like 200 steps ahead of the villains, and the remote control idea is pretty cool too, but an army of armors just seems too excessive, and we're getting a major armor overload from these films... I was hoping with the Mandarin around that Tony and maybe Rhodey would be the only ones in armor :/
StarkAnthony - 9/4/2012, 8:04 AM
I don't know about this, 40 seems really excessive. Two or three wouldnt be too bad, but 40?
Iron man suits aren't cannon fodder - they are essentially one man armies. Tony took out hundreds of Chitauri on his own. Forty suits would be really distracting and hard to deal with in a film. There weren't even 40 Hammer drones. I'll wait until I see the movie, but I'm hoping Latino Review got this one wrong like they did Black Panther.
