Mark XLVII Armor Reports To IRON MAN 3 Florida Set

Following Robert Downey Jr.'s arrival to the Iron Man 3 set, as filming commenced in Florida today, Tony Stark's latest greatest armor, Mark XLVII, has been spotted. Check it out after the jump!

After a brief halt in production after the star sustained an ankle injury, filming picked up today in Miami Beach, Florida for Marvel's Iron Man 3 flick. And while Robert Downey Jr. made his “triumphant” return earlier today, as well a tease of the Iron Patriot armor, Tony Stark's Mark XLVII suit has been spotted on the set.









Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Dale Dickey, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

It looks like they added some silver to the armor since its big reveal at comic-con.

I'm curious why they have so many practical suits in this one, I thought they pretty much perfected the cgi iron man suits.

@SpoonWielder - They always have one on set to match up colour and lighting on the CG version, like they did with the practical Destroyer on the set of Thor.

Looks gorgeous even without the added SFX and lighting. Cannot wait to see this on film. Kudos to whoever designed it.

The reason the CG looked so good in IM2 and Avengers is parts of the suit were actually practical at times and just the legs, arms and face-plate was CG

I'm sorry, I just don't care for it. I'm hyped as hell for this movie and to finally see the Mandrian, but the Mark XLVII suit just isn't doing it for me. Still, can't wait!!

Im ok w/ the new suit, but why is it called the mark 47?!? & I agree w/ Gambit, it will look better onscreen. Plus, a new suit in ever Iron Man flick is cool, because he's always upgrading his armor...doesnt work good for batman, spidey, cap & everyone else who in the books have resorted to the same shit all these yrs

I hope he jokes about the avengers , cracking jokes about how he'll call his jolly green friend or one of his best friends is a god ect , or if he runs out of power "could sure use Blondy right about now" ect

I don't much care for the busy detail but am sure will turn a blind eye to it in the movie. Although, I never got used to Raimi's Spider-Man costume.

That looks so much better than when the suit was first revealed. It looks like they repainted the gold parts.

I can't wait to see the trailer for this!

Why the full armor?? It would be awesome a real suit not just a torso and the rest made with cgi :D

I guess it was just the lighting at Comic Con, but I thought the dark areas were black, not red. Frankly, that would have been cooler. i mean, it hardly looks like the classic Iron Man anymore anyway.
