According to the ever reliable Film Music Reporter, Marvel Studios and director Shane Black have finally chosen who'll compose the musical arrangement for next year's much-anticipated third Iron Man installment. While Ramin Djawadi tackled the score for the original Jon Favreau-directed movie, and John Debney scored the 2010 sequel, composer and conductor Brian Tyler has been hired for Iron Man 3, the site reveals.

Brian Tyler has scored a number of big blockbusters including Eagle Eye, The Expendables, Battle: Los Angeles, The Final Destination, Rambo, Fast Five, and the recently released sequel, The Expendables 2. And he also worked on big video game titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Transformers: Prime, and Need for Speed. What do you think?

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Dale Dickey, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

he might be alright, its hard to say at the moment.
LucasMend - 10/11/2012, 3:19 PM
Marvel's cheap even with scores, when they're gonna hire somebody as good as Ramin Djawadi for their movies again? After TIH, their scores went to shit. Shame on Marvel.
Owley - 10/11/2012, 3:21 PM
I hate him, so I'm not happy at all. Ramin Djawadi was the best. Or at least keep John Debney.
Owley - 10/11/2012, 3:23 PM
@LucasMend: Damn right (except for Avengers)
Jnichols326 - 10/11/2012, 3:25 PM
im okay with this, i loved his score in the expendables, battle los angeles, and rambo, he is a great choice
JordanKing - 10/11/2012, 3:28 PM
Going off those he's done previously, seems like a solid choice.
csdot - 10/11/2012, 3:29 PM
Ramin Djawadi? seriously? the score for the first Iron Man was so awful. Silvestri's scores for Captain America and Avengers were top notch.
LucasMend - 10/11/2012, 3:30 PM
@Owley, I think only the main theme of the movie was good, rest was forgettable, can't believe it was the same guy who did the score for BTTF.
lokibane2012 - 10/11/2012, 3:37 PM
@LucasMend

Yeah, Marvel are some pretty cheap [frick]ers. I heard somewhere that Scarlet Johansson only got hired for the Widow because she was the only one in consideration willing to work with a laughably tiny pay.

Seems legit. Why else would they hire someone who is an absolute misfit for the role?
loshanagan - 10/11/2012, 3:37 PM
They should get Michael Giacchino to score one of these movies.
charlie2094 - 10/11/2012, 3:41 PM
Good choice! Never watched the show, but his soundtrack to "Children of Dune" is fantastic, and a lot of his other work is great too. Hopefully this'll improve over 1 & 2 which both had fairly uninspired, forgettable music.
jimpinto24 - 10/11/2012, 3:46 PM
He is a good choice.
SageMode - 10/11/2012, 3:49 PM
Awesome choice.

the only good songs from the first Iron Man were "Driving with the Top Down", and "Merchant of Death". i was pretty dissapointed with Djawadi's score on that. but Brian Tyler has been consistently good on his scores, even if the movies sucked.
kemuael - 10/11/2012, 3:51 PM
Brian Tyler my first choice :-D
Originator2000 - 10/11/2012, 3:57 PM
I wanted Mike Shinoda but Brian Tyler was my 2nd choice.
Tony93 - 10/11/2012, 3:57 PM
please don't end up being like The Amazing Hipster's soundtrack..
santoanderson - 10/11/2012, 4:05 PM
I thought Debney's score was far more cliched and forgettable than Djawadi's.

The score for the first film was refreshing, because it was almost rock music, and that felt appropriate for the Iron Man character. The second score was just generic "up-up-and-away!" music.
TheCaptain - 10/11/2012, 4:10 PM
Never really heard any of this guys' stuff. Can't really judge as of yet

Off to YouTube.
OrganizedChaos - 10/11/2012, 4:30 PM
Awesome! his Battle Los Angeles Score is badass!
GIFfreyGinsberg - 10/11/2012, 4:37 PM
@Charlie2094

The Children of Dune score was impressive for television. Tyler also did a nice job of fusing his new material for Rambo 4 with Goldsmith's best themes from the first First Blood as well. This guy will be better to have on board than Debney.

@santoanderson

I agree. Despite the first films score being minimal(sharing screen time with needledrops), I felt the theme used whilst Stark is making the armor in the cave was great and should have been kept throughout all the films.
Xtroid - 10/11/2012, 4:51 PM
Brian Tyler did a good job on BUBBA HO-TEP.
superotherside - 10/11/2012, 5:33 PM
IDK. Just depends I've actually liked all the Marvel scores so yeah, can't wait to hear this one.
IronSpider101 - 10/11/2012, 6:24 PM
Brian Tyler I love purely for his score on "Bubba Ho-Tep"

Without a doubt, I'm behind this.
nihcamja - 10/11/2012, 6:32 PM
I liked the soundtrack for Modern Warfare 3, so maybe this will be good.
OverlyManlyMan - 10/11/2012, 7:19 PM
Hoping for the best iron man score yet!
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey - 10/11/2012, 7:24 PM
In my opinion, Ramin Djwadi was the best of the Iron Man films and the Marvel Studios films. The Avengers score by Alan Silvestri comes second. I hated the Iron Man 2 soundtrack. It was super cliche' and cheesy. I only liked about two tracks from it. I don't know anything about Brian Tyler, so I will have to wait and see. I saw Expendables 2, I don't remember the score very well, but I remember it was alright. So, I don't know what to expect.
OverlyManlyMan - 10/11/2012, 7:34 PM
His MW3 score is sick

Franshu - 10/11/2012, 7:37 PM
IDK. I was king hoping they would get Djawadi abck for the 3rd flick...
RR51 - 10/11/2012, 8:39 PM
Pahenya - 10/11/2012, 8:59 PM
Bonehead move Marvel...geeeez
JorLBola - 10/11/2012, 9:23 PM
Man, I loved the soundtrack for the first Iron-man Movie... the moment when he suits up for the very first time the Mark III was totally awesome and emblematic
marvelstudios - 10/11/2012, 9:24 PM
Wow good choice. His was great in MW3.
AmazingFantasy - 10/11/2012, 9:44 PM
Mediocre...?

"Yeah The Avengers theme was [frick]ing horrible"

If I see that..

Best CBM theme hands down.
IronDean2099 - 10/12/2012, 3:07 AM
The score in Iron Man was amazing. Especially the first flight sequence. That shit gives me goosebumps every time.
Gamester76 - 10/12/2012, 6:32 AM
Always loved Brian Tyler's work. His score for Dragonball: Evolution was the best part of that film (though givenhow bad the rest of the movie was, that's not a high bar). And his music on Final Destination 4 and 5 was awesome and terrifying. The electric sound that he brings to his scores is terrific.
TheBigBoss917 - 10/12/2012, 6:42 AM
shit composer
poop23 - 10/12/2012, 8:06 AM
They should just keep the guy from the first film, that was the best. The ironman score is very unique and if if 3 doesn't have that awesome heavy guitar thing going, im gonna be pissed. They probably will, but still i don't like when they gamble on things like this, like dropping elfman for spiderman 3
WhiteBolt - 10/12/2012, 9:28 PM
@LucasMend

You didn't like Thor's score. I thought Patrick Doyle did a fantastic job for that movie.
TheCaptain - 10/18/2012, 6:25 PM
I like this guy's style. He's a good choice for Iron Man and I can't wait to here his score. Tyler is underrated because a lot of the movies he scored are bad, but their music is probably the best thing about them.
