I never thought growing up that Iron Man, much less the Avengers, would be up there leading the way for comic book movies alongside Batman, Spider-Man, & The X-Men, making hundreds of millions of dollars.

A buddy and I used to spend summers drawing our own comics on stock typing paper my dad would supply from work and after Total Recall, Terminator 2, Predator 2(Darkhorse books helped), the Rocketeer and that Corman Cap film whose poster sat for a frickin' year outside our local theatre taunting us that a @Xavier

I remember leaving the theater from T2 and thinking with a buddy of mine that comic book films are on the horizon; hell the t-1000 was basically Silver Surfer(I got excited for the '87 relaunch). We saw Predator 2, THe Rocketeer & Total Recall together. He'd stay at my house for 4days at a time(his parents lived outside town)& we'd draw comics all summer long. We'd merely discuss the panels before diving in, and they always turned out. We did a low budget Punisher film that could be compared to Edgar's Dead Wright on VHS. That facet of comics to screen always stuck with me. I never thought we'd get Iron Man because of the Rocketeer.., funny eh?

I can remember the Burton quality Cap movie poster that Corman was to deliverer: LMAO! That was before the intertubes people and that's I truly think is the reason I go for the fantastic as reality with these comicbook films. Sounds like I'm not a true fan, eat it, I love the Marvel films, but think of the original SW trilogy. What imprinted that to me is the fact that it seemed like a tangible, existing world. I like the James Marsden concept of what if a guy could shoot beams from his eyes & how would the world react to that. That is good stuff guys! I'd love to see a mo-cap Alex Ross version of the JLA, but until that day, I like the plausiblity or reality with my superheroes. It doesn't have to be Nolan(he's good & gets unneeded guff) territory, but something close, with color. Done deal. I'll take $400,000, I want the rest on screen. :P

..and of course I'd fight to stay as close to source as possible, but if it just won't work cinematically, I wouldn't force it. Marvel got lucky, 'cause all the Avengers worked and had good solo films. The 2011 releases had a producer stench, but were still great!

RDJ still loks good for late 40's and hasnt significantly aged since the first ironman film but if marvel are wise they'd film Avengers 2 and 3 back to back because he'll be 50/1 and if he looks the same as now they could cast a 40 year old as his replacement and get away with Tony not deaging. I only say this as i wouldnt want tony stark to get too old becasue i wouldnt want any area of the mctobe rebooted theres no need. I'm a bit worried that they're going to waste ruffalos god years because banner shouldnt be really old either
