Frank Grillo To Reprise CAPTAIN AMERICA Sequel ‘Crossbones’ Role In THE AVENGERS 2?
Only days after verification that The Grey actor was joining Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Crossbones, reputable sources say Frank Grillo will appear in multiple films. Check it out!
Before we received confirmation that actor Frank Grillo was joining Marvel's anticipated sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, comedian and radio host Matthew Aaron had revealed, a week earlier, that the End of Watch actor was testing for the villain Brock Rumlow, Crossbones. Well, during a recent episode of Matthew Aaron's radio show, the host personally called up Frank Grillo, who was in the middle of filming Homefront, to congratulate him on landing the villainous role. And attempting to verify his “sources,” Aaron asked Grillo was he making more Crossbones appearances after Captain America: The Winter Soldier, to which Frank modestly confirmed.
“Yeah, it's a good run,” Frank Grillo said. But more interestingly, after he left the chat to “finish beating [actor] Jason Statham's ass” for Homefront, Matthew Aaron said that, according to the same ‘Marvel rat’ that informed him of Frank Grillo's involvement, one of the future films that Crossbones will appear in post-The Winter Soldier is Joss Whedon's Marvel's The Avengers sequel. Aaron added that Grillo will apparently portray Crossbones in three films total, with the inevitable third Captain America movie presumably being his final one.
If true, Crossbones appearing in The Avengers sequel doesn't mean he'll be the main villain, who's rumored to be the Mad Titan Thanos. But it could mean writer-director Joss Whedon and Marvel are heading the ‘Masters of Evil’ route. Also, if Frank Grillo did sign on for another Captain America film, it's possible Marvel are planning on adapting The Death of Captain America story arc, by Ed Brubaker. In it, Crossbones made the first blow that took out Steve Rogers. What do you think?
Described as a political thriller, Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where the highly anticipated film “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D, and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel's classic Super Hero Captain America, who first appeared on the pages of “Captain America Comics” (#1) in March, 1941. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is presented by Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso & Stan Lee are executive producers. The film releases April 4, 2014, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
