Natalie Portman Wields Mysterious Device Filming Scenes For THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Scenes filmed today for Marvel’s much-anticipated Thor: The Dark World involved ‘Jane Foster’ and ‘Erik Selvig’ actors Natalie Portman and Stellan Skarsgård. And set photos via the Daily Mail feature the pair running from or to an unknown danger, likely to be the London invasion of Dark Elves. What’s more interesting is some sort of plot device Portman is holding as the cameras roll. She was seen wielding the same mechanism in videos earlier this week, but check it out below. Also, today is reportedly the last day we'll see principal cast members of the Alan Taylor-directed Thor follow-up. Detailing what took place today, Tumblr user Princehals reports:

Apparently they were still shooting Jane & Selvig scenes, and we saw Natalie Portman coming to and from set a couple of times. Other than that, not much else was going on - at about one o'clock, it started to rain, so they began clearing up. Several crew members saw us stood in the rain and explained that all the main cast had left for the day; also that Unit 1 were leaving today, and that from now it'll just be Unit 2 until Sunday, which apparently means stunts, explosions, extras, and no main cast. Somewhat more interesting though - I went and checked the name on the trailer door; the one that began as Jane's, and was then Malekith's - it now says “Ian [Boothby].”

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

In addition to “Thor: The Dark World”, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on more iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

She looks bored and uninterested. Please kill her and give us Sif and Thor already.
plasticman - 11/21/2012, 9:51 AM
Why is it that as I look at these pictures all I see is someone upset that they are working on this movie? And how ironic is that that we as CBM fans would trade life and limb to exchange places with her for that oppurtunity?

Didn't she beg Marvel to let her out of her contract when Patty Jenkins dropped out of the sequel?

I heard from a reliable source of what that thing is. It's called a CPD. It stands for Convenient Plot Device.
HeadPool420 - 11/21/2012, 11:30 AM
I was excited for this movie till I started seeing pics of em on earth then my excitment went down a lil. I'm not hating I just with they would save Thor coming back to earth for the Avengers 2 and use the Thor movies for exploring the other realms. Still gonna see it though!
GreenLanternRulez - 11/21/2012, 11:32 AM
I love Natalie, but seriously? Green Lantern gets crap treatment from the public and yet Thor gets a sequel? I'll never understand the decisions by studios.
Seejay - 11/21/2012, 11:37 AM
@GreenLanternRulez 11/21/2012, 11:32 AM

I read your post twice, but having a hard time understanding your logic:

Thor was very successful in the box office, and yet Green Lantern doesn't get a sequel?

It's a gamma powered dildo!
Marqy47 - 11/21/2012, 11:44 AM
@GreenLanternRulez

Thats because Thor was awesome
malekithdude - 11/21/2012, 11:46 AM
Stunts and explosions along with extras left? Brilliant!!! Hopefully now we'll see the beginning of the invasion with cars being blown up in explosions etc. Elves aren't main cast, so I suppose we can get to the action now.
GUNSMITH - 11/21/2012, 11:57 AM
THAT'S A FLUX CAPACITOR
odie00 - 11/21/2012, 12:02 PM
@GreenLanternRulez- You should get slapped for saying that. Are you kidding me? Did you not see both films? Thor; good acting, awesome actions scenes, awesome cast for characters. Green Lantern had none of those EXCEPT for Mark Strong as Sinestro, THAT WAS IT. If you were a true Lantern fan as I am, you would know that movie was garbage. I was so made in the theaters when watching it, I wanted to cry. Based off the Secret Origin my ass.
harley2011 - 11/21/2012, 12:16 PM
She was good in the first one. I still think she's going phone this one in. She sure did in the last Star Wars movie.
rbfn04 - 11/21/2012, 12:19 PM
Thor was avg... But, y'all never gonna admit that... It's ok...

Green lantern was absolutely horrific. I can't even sit threw it
Cosmic1 - 11/21/2012, 1:33 PM
The scenes that have been posted here aren't the whole movie, all realms are rumored to be featured in this film (that includes earth), so I'm sure there on some movie lots with green screen filming some stuff. Thor was a decent film and it did good because us comic geeks wanted to watch it and our wives/girlfriends also had an interest in Hemsworth, so this next one will do good as well leading to the third after avengers 2, but it would be nice to have at least one Thor film where they don't go to earth.
amxt - 11/21/2012, 1:39 PM
New thought: Thor loses his hammer... and his new weapon is in the wheelbarrow.
