While notifying the Community actress about the viral photoshopped image with her donning Captain America's duds (pictured below), in the interim of the Sundance Film Festival, MTV News received somewhat of an update from Alison Brie about past reports which claimed that she's in contention for an unnamed lead role in Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Check it out!

“Many, many a person have sent this [photo] to me on Twitter, actually. I'm impressed with the abs. I'm down with it. Are you kidding? I love it. I'm going to go break Chris Evans' kneecap, because obviously the second-best person to step into that role is me.” Playing coy after being asked if The Winter Soldier reports are true, Brie says, “I wouldn't be opposed to it.” About the movie's directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, who she's quite fond of from Community, Alison Brie shares, “I'm excited that they're going to do it. I think they're incredible. Everything they do is incredible. It'll be a nice change for those Marvel superhero movies, to have a fresh take on it.”

Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where the highly anticipated film “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury & the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D, and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. Starring Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Toby Jones, Cobie Smulders with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joe Russo & Anthony Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and is scheduled for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; & “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Alison Brie? YES PLEASE!

DrDoom - 1/28/2013, 9:26 AM
The fact that she looks like she could be related to Atwell certainly doesn't hurt.
DrDoom - 1/28/2013, 9:32 AM
@MarvelPsycho

Another villain? Hmmmm....

skidz - 1/28/2013, 9:33 AM
@AcidicHeart: There's no confirmation that she's playing Sharon Carter or any part she's playing.
DrDoom - 1/28/2013, 9:45 AM
@skidz

I know that. But she is one of the many ladies under consideration for Winter Soldier's female lead, which has a 99% chance of being Sharon.

She is so hot. And the fact she has been on The Nerdist and AOTS just makes her hotter!

@SageMode

Excellent choice.

@Nomadic1
Speaking of AOTS Sara Underwood was on Ninja Warrior yesterday. I'd buy that for a dollar!
Nomadic1 - 1/28/2013, 10:01 AM
@Jediknyte Yea, missing my AOTS. It's how I got a lot of my geek news.

Is she playing Sharon? IDK... I'm thinking she might actually be playing Viper (Madame Hydra). Didn't her and Cap get involved romantically at one point?
DrDoom - 1/28/2013, 10:11 AM
@superotherside

I know there's been an undercurrent of sexual tension between Cap and Madame Hydra in certain stories, but I've never seen them get together. As for Cap getting with villains, I know he and Diamondback were an item.

As for dear Ophelia, I really want to see her on the big screen soon (and no, not in The Wolverine. Have you seen the set pictures of her? It's going to be a disaster). Hopefully they keep her Earth-199999 design from the Captain America: Super Soldier game. My favourite Madame Hydra design by far.

nowtheresaBATman - 1/28/2013, 2:23 PM

Hmmm, Alison Brie as Sharon Carter? She's not one of my top choices, but maybe she could pull it off.

@batz@DrHorrible WOW! Lei è una donna molto bella.
