THOR: THE DARK WORLD: More From Chris O’Dowd, Zachary Levi And Ray Stevenson
While Chris O’Dowd and Zachary Levi share their hopes for the sequel and not ending up on the editing room floor, Ray Stevenson describes Thor: The Dark World “Vikings in space.” + tie-in merch.
As a couple reports have indicated, Thor: The Dark World, Marvel’s second Phase Two entry, could get its first big marketing push with a debut trailer in the first week of April. Awaiting confirmation of that, tie-in merchandise has surfaced while the sequel’s supporting stars Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi and Day Player Chris O’Dowd discuss their roles in the Alan Taylor-directed adaptation.
“It was great to be back among the boys for Thor,” Stevenson told the press during the UK premiere of G.I. Joe: Retaliation last week. Describing the Marvel sequel “Vikings in space”, the British continued , “This time, Volstagg is a bit more war-like and a bit more frenzied. There’s some deep, deep challenges to the universe and the nine realms.’’ Basically, in ‘Thor’, Asgard’s under attack. All the happy, shiny days are soon to be behind us.”
Meanwhile, Zachary Levi, the new actor behind Fandral the Dashing, one of Volstagg’s fellow Warrior Three Asgardians, shared with PopSugar things he’s hopeful of concerning Thor: The Dark World. “First, I hope that I'm not on the cutting room floor and I also that whatever does make it in the movie, real comic book fans, who know the characters and the stories, appreciate it. I believe in doing right by them, so I hope they feel like my portrayal of Fandral is solid. I'm completely blond in the movie, so that's really weird.” When Chris Hemsworth’s golden locks was mentioned, Levi said, “He’s a massive man. I would look at him [and think] you see them in the movies and go ‘that guy is jacked; movie magic?’ No! That guy could smash a small bus.”
Irish thespian Chris O'Dowd was revealed last week as a new (and surprising) addition to the ensemble cast of Thor: The Dark World. Hoping his cameo with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster makes the final cut, O'Dowd told Entertainment Weekly, via Comic Book, “I figure I’ll never [otherwise] be in a superhero movie. I don’t know what I’m allowed to say, but essentially I go on a date with Natalie Portaman. That was the sell, and that’s all I needed to know.”
As aforementioned, details and photos for some tie-in Thor: The Dark World merchandise recently surfaced online. With a few items below check out more gathered via @ThorMoviesFan on Tumblr.
