While scheduled to commence filming in the month of May, duo-directors Anthony and Joe Russo are rounding out the cast of Marvel’s third Phase Two film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In keeping with Latino Review’s most recent scoop, “just got off the phone with my Marvel source who gave me an Exclusive,” Canadian mixed martial artist Georges St-Pierre (GSP) has officially signed on for the 2014 sequel as the mercenary villain known as (surprise) Georges Batroc, aliased Batroc the Leaper. As the current Welterweight Champion of the UFC, Georges St-Pierre, 31, has only starred in three martial arts-based films, all of which were released back in 2009. About his character, Batroc the Leaper has no powers in the comic books, but he is a master in Savate, the French art of foot fighting, as well as kickboxing and many other martial arts disciplines. Also, with Academy Award-winning actor Robert Redford joining The Winter Soldier cast recently, sources of Latino Review report that his senior S.H.I.E.L.D. character’s name is Pierce. What do you think?

Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where the highly anticipated “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Toby Jones, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Maximiliano Hernández, Hayley Atwell, Scarlett Johansson with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed Anthony Russo & Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel’s classic super hero Captain America, who first appeared in the comic book “Captain America #1” in March, 1941. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is presented by Marvel Studios and produced by Kevin Feige and co-produced by Nate Moore. The executive producers are Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso and Michael Grillo. The film releases April 4, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

DaenerysTargaryen - 3/25/2013, 1:30 PM
uhhhhh....ok? Whats our villain tally so far. Ok we have Winter soldier, Crossbones, and now this guy and its rumored we'll see Zemo. Thats a lot.
TheManFromMars - 3/25/2013, 1:33 PM
The issue that introduced Batroc was also the issue that introduced Sharon Carter.

Rhysno1 - 3/25/2013, 1:37 PM
Trust Elmayimbe like I trust the plague
jlabatman0511 - 3/25/2013, 1:38 PM
Cap is going to be busy as hell in this movie!
marvel72 - 3/25/2013, 1:38 PM
batroc the leaper has nothing to do with the winter soldier story.

"sniff" - "sniff" do you smell something? yup its bullshit.
IronVenom22 - 3/25/2013, 1:41 PM
Let's see Winter Soldier, Crossbones, Zola, and now Batroc. That's four villians right now.

How many does IM3 have? Mandarin, Aldrich, Savin, and Taggert.

So i don't see a problem.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 3/25/2013, 1:46 PM
Does Marvel get a WWE discount or something?
hayyam - 3/25/2013, 1:48 PM
Another wrestler/fighter bullshit. How great. I am expecting casting anouncement Hulk Hogan as Thanos.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 3/25/2013, 1:48 PM
I love how people shit on el mayimbe, but the dude has been right more often than not. I guess people under the age of 18 don't remember he broke the news about Bale being Batman, Aaron Eckheart being two face and Ledger being the joker. Not too mention he got his hands on the Batman Begins script a year before the film came out. The dude maybe a self promoter, but there is not denying he has connections in the industry.
Hellsing - 3/25/2013, 1:49 PM
I think people often get confused with Villain and Henchmen on this site. None of you have read a comic book now have you. This isn't the case of having three huge villains in one moive. Batrocs a merc, Crossbones a merc, and your not going to get zemo if you do they'll probably fuse him with Alex Lukin.

Also IM3 villain breakdown for the retarded Mandarin top dog>Aldrich right hand man>everyone else Extremis soldier.
jambion - 3/25/2013, 1:50 PM
WWE is different than the UFC you clown.

also, nothing wrong with getting well known fighters to play roles that would normally have gone to stuntmen
Hellsing - 3/25/2013, 1:51 PM
Yes look at Marvel Studios how low they have succummed casting wrestlers like Robert Redford oh wait a minute the dudes not an wrestler I heard he's this thing called a AC-TOR don't know what it is though. Apparently he's damn fine at being an AC-TOR.
Hellsing - 3/25/2013, 1:52 PM
Also if your gonna complain please don't compare an MMA fighter to a wrestler I beg you. Besides that do whatever it is you wish.
TheManFromMars - 3/25/2013, 1:56 PM
I just find amusing that he's a guy named Georges playing another guy name Georges!

...

Yeah, I'm easily amused...
jlabatman0511 - 3/25/2013, 2:00 PM
Damn French!
JerBear - 3/25/2013, 2:01 PM
So Robert Redford is playing Alexander Goodwin Pierce?
marvelmaniaco - 3/25/2013, 2:06 PM
Why not lol more heroes and villain cameos the better :p plus love George saint Pierre
CavEl - 3/25/2013, 2:06 PM
Just like the first movie, Cap 2 will be the stain on this Marvel phase.
CavEl - 3/25/2013, 2:08 PM
Not that Iron Man 2 or Thor were better, but TFA was so kaka, made them looks passable.
JerBear - 3/25/2013, 2:09 PM
@JaketheSuperguy
Are you serious? Captain America was the third best reviewed film in phase 1 behind only Iron Man and The Avengers.
JerBear - 3/25/2013, 2:09 PM
Plus it was a good movie period.
PaulRom - 3/25/2013, 2:10 PM
Yeah, Latino Review has been right more than wrong. They have been off on some things, but they've gotten a lot of things spot on (Thanos in Avengers, multiple armors in Iron Man 3, Ben Kingsley playing Mandarin, Brandon Routh as Superman, Heath Ledger as Joker, Guardians of the Galaxy movie in 2014, I can go on). So unless we get official confirmation otherwise, I'd go with what they put out.
CharlesLord - 3/25/2013, 2:10 PM
lmfaooooo i know LR can be reliable some times but....yea not falling for it til i see it with my own eyes
Ocelot - 3/25/2013, 2:11 PM
@IronVenom22 aren't taggert and savin are pretty much just grunt like henchman, rather than top tier villians
DukeAcureds - 3/25/2013, 2:12 PM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
...eheh, eheh...
...
DukeAcureds - 3/25/2013, 2:12 PM
...really?
DanteSparda - 3/25/2013, 2:12 PM
You can tell he is french because of his mustache.
Ramiel - 3/25/2013, 2:13 PM
Mayimbe? Yawn...
JerBear - 3/25/2013, 2:14 PM
@Ocelot
That's what Batroc and Crossbones will be.
Rhys - 3/25/2013, 2:21 PM

Definitely one of Cap most underrated villains. I'm excited. Curious to see how all these characters are gonna work in together.
FrenzyFreak - 3/25/2013, 2:22 PM
@Hellsing They probably are gonna have Zemo considering there still casting another villain role with 2 actors that have similar appearances. And why the hell would they fuse him with Lukin? That makes no sense. Their both too big of characters to mix together unlike Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo (IM2).

And the Batroc thing is fine. I doubt it'll be a large role though.
KaneRomita - 3/25/2013, 2:22 PM
!!!? Wow.. I do think that's too many villains but Falcon and Sharon have gotta have somebody to fight too I guess..
Maybe Batroc will only appear in Falcon's intro.? ehhhnnn.. I Can't wait
BigDamnHero - 3/25/2013, 2:22 PM
Batroc? The Leaper? Erm... Sure, why not! But who'd have thought we'd be seeing Batroc the Leaper in a movie before we see Ultron or Kang?
superotherside - 3/25/2013, 2:23 PM
Awesome. I think this villian could be done really well on film. I admit he's a bit silly in the comics at times but on screen they could do something really cool.
IronManny819 - 3/25/2013, 2:28 PM
Let's hope we're all impressed with his performance.
AmazingFantasy - 3/25/2013, 2:28 PM
Gonna be hialrious
