Paul Giamatti Theorizes About 'Sinister Six' For Future THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Sequels

MTV News caught up with Paul Giamatti during the Toronto International Film Festival and, of course, inquired about his role as Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While confirming that his character is like a "stage-setting opening sequence" in the sequel, the Oscar-nominated actor says, "I believe there's a lot of stage-setting for the next film. There are several villains in this movie, and some of them are more foreground and important. Jamie Foxx is and stuff," he said. "A couple of us are more hanging around the background because I think there will be a bigger deal." It's been heavily implied that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is setting up the Sinister Six for future installments - two of which already have release dates - but Giamatti couldn't actually confirm the villainous Hexad. "I don't actually know, but that seems to be what they're doing," he said. "I'm not an idiot either, but I can't claim hard and fast knowledge of this. I won't. I can't because I don't actually know, but you and I can speculate." What do you think?

In “The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2,” for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are the producers. The sequel is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

I honestly wanted six Spider-Man films...

-AMS3: *Green Goblin and Vulture* "Doc Ock Cameo"
-AMS4: *Kraven and Chameleon* introduce symbiote "Kravens Last Hunt"
-Venom Spin-Off: (Chronicle Director) "Venom vs Carnage"
-AMS5: *Venom and Scorpion* "Spidey Gives up Symbiote"
-AMS6: Sinister Six Shodown "Peter and MJ are invaded at their wedding (just like the comics) by the sinister six" Doc Ock, Vulture, Rhino, Mysterio, Shocker, Sandman

Meh... is it wrong to hope that Sony doesn't make budget with this film so that they give the rights to Marvel Studios?
TheRationalNerd - 9/7/2013, 7:40 AM
And plus I would see the sixth film releasing in 2022 add all the numbers up 2+0+2+2 = 6 would've been a catchy way to do the title. Shifting the 2's into forming 6 haha! But a nerd can dream... :(((
SpiderParker - 9/7/2013, 7:45 AM
The movie is shit even before it got released?
TheRationalNerd - 9/7/2013, 7:46 AM
ASM1-2012
ASM2-2014
ASM3-2016
ASM4-2018
Venom Spin Off-2019
ASM5-2020
ASM6-2022

That's how I would've pictures it being done! Just imagine the franchise box you would have! Aghhhhh! lol
TheRationalNerd - 9/7/2013, 7:47 AM
@SpiderParker

Agreed! lol I know for sure the film will be extrordinary!
TheRationalNerd - 9/7/2013, 7:47 AM
*extraordinary*
SpiderParker - 9/7/2013, 7:54 AM
@TheBlackMan - Absolutely. :)
Highflyer - 9/7/2013, 7:58 AM
I never knew they released the movie already :o
ezio619 - 9/7/2013, 7:59 AM
i agree with Spiderparker and TheBlackMan, i think this movie will be quite good, i loved the amazing spiderman,it was actually my favorite superhero film of last year followed by Avengers and TDKR ,even though i really liked those two aswell and i hope this one is good though, imo i think its much better then the raimi trilogy, i think the raimi trilogy had the two best villians in superhero films ever(green goblin, doc ock) and lets hope electro is good.
SpiderParker - 9/7/2013, 8:11 AM
@LEVITKUZ - A movie getting hate and going straight out to say the movie is shit are two different things. It seems you are trying to create a flame war? Personally though, I'm looking forward to both DOFP and Supes/Batsy.
MrMartinMarvel - 9/7/2013, 8:13 AM
I forgot this movie existed.
WeekendAvenger - 9/7/2013, 8:16 AM
are you serious tasm gets the most hate, I'll admit to hating on Superman/Batman mainly because it seems this site is up DC's butt for no reason.
NitPicker - 9/7/2013, 8:19 AM
@superotherside

If feeling that way is wrong, then I don't wanna be right.
Highflyer - 9/7/2013, 8:21 AM
@LEVITIKUZ People hate on Superman/Batman?
Highflyer - 9/7/2013, 8:22 AM
I thought people were just hating on Ben Affleck as Batman (which i think is dumb)
JoeMomma29 - 9/7/2013, 8:23 AM
Of course they are going to do the Sinister Six, that is the only way they can try to compete with Marvel/Disney.
GUNSMITH - 9/7/2013, 8:25 AM
FROM WHAT I SAW OF HIM IN A RIPLEY FROM ALIENS IN THE ROBOTIC CONSTRUCTION SUIT TYPE LOOKING THINGY...FROM THAT ALONE I SAID WTF?????
SpiderParker - 9/7/2013, 8:27 AM
But atleast those movies have some reason people hate it about although I don't agree to them. But TASM2 seemingly doesn't have any major points that should create hate, Bad Actor? Director? Story? Writer? It shouldn't get any hate until the movie gets released.
ezio619 - 9/7/2013, 8:28 AM
i am personally looking forward to x men days of future past,its my least anticipated of the superhero films coming out but that does not mean i dont like it, i am also looking forward to superman/batman because its superman and batman in a movie and i think ben affleck is gonna surprise alot of people, i saw a trailer for his new movie runner , runner and he seema he is doing a good job in that plus he is playing an evil billionaire too
ezio619 - 9/7/2013, 8:29 AM
i want all superhero films to be good, they better they are, the more we get.
MexicanSuperman - 9/7/2013, 8:30 AM
Cool, and I can't wait. Frick the haters.
MOcountyguy - 9/7/2013, 8:33 AM
whats up comic geeks!! this is my first comment! SINISTER SIX its gonna be awesome...
SpiderParker - 9/7/2013, 8:37 AM
@AquamanEatsSeafood - I want the Spider-Man rights go back to Marvel too but I think the current franchise has great potential.
Highflyer - 9/7/2013, 8:38 AM
@AquamanEatsSeafood, what makes it so clear that this franchise will be shit?
jerryblake - 9/7/2013, 8:41 AM
If they gonna do Sinister Six i would love to see
Hobgoblin, Chameleon or Scorpion being a part of the team.

Maybe Mysterio too. I'm not a big fan of this character but i can imagine him and Chameleon twisting this little Spidey mind easily
Highflyer - 9/7/2013, 8:41 AM
@GodOfMischief, agreed.
jerryblake - 9/7/2013, 8:45 AM
And Kraven ... of course
DestroyerofHaters - 9/7/2013, 8:45 AM
@griff-Shit commenter. Shit reviewer. Shit comic book fan.
TheRationalNerd - 9/7/2013, 8:48 AM
My most anticipated films for 2014 are

X-Men: Days of Future Past
Godzilla
Transforms 4
Dawn of the Planet if the Apes
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Guardians of the Galaxy
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (I have a feeling I'll get more hyped when I see some footage, I know it will do great)

What's funny is that I really want to see all of these films! So I could care less about calling a film sh** before I see it when I know dang well I'll be the first to check out each teaser. I don't mind Spider-Man and the X-Men being reverted back to the hands of Marvel but why even ask for that when we're getting so many beautiful films by each franchise as of right now?? It just seems childish to me, let the producers and directors finish doing their thing and wait until its marvels turn.

In all honesty I'm glad the X-Men aren't at Marvel right now because they'd probably make Wolverine colorful and toned down for the kids! jk lol but seriously Fox has...

-X-Force
-Magneto Solo
-Deadpool
-A possible sequel to Days of Future Past
-Fantastic Four

All either in the works or will soon be developed so I'm glad they're finding people who actually love these characters to write their stories and direct such epic films to come!
DestroyerofHaters - 9/7/2013, 8:48 AM
@AquamanEatsSeafood- If Marvel got the rights back, do you have any idea how long it'd be until they even did Spider-Man? They only want to produce 2 movies a year, and he certainly wouldn't fit into where they're going with late phase 2 and phase 3. If you're going to keep hating, at least come up with a real, worthwhile idea.
TheRationalNerd - 9/7/2013, 8:49 AM
*Transformers 4*
TheRationalNerd - 9/7/2013, 8:52 AM
@DestroyerofHaters

Your name says exactly what you came here to do! "DESTROY THESE HATERS" lol !!!
Berserker187 - 9/7/2013, 8:53 AM
There is only one thing I want, "WE ARE VENOM!"
DaVinci31 - 9/7/2013, 8:57 AM
Nice try Giamatti, but we all know what's really coming out of your character.

SpiderParker - 9/7/2013, 8:58 AM
@TheBlackMan - Agreed with you. Actually, I wanted Fox to revert the rights for X-Men to Marvel cause they were doing shit with it but First Class was pretty good movie so I am actually looking forward to its Sequel. For Spidey, I wanted to see him with Avengers but I think they are doing great job at Sony.
Greengo - 9/7/2013, 8:59 AM
@MOcountyguy: welcome to the party.
JoJo1982 - 9/7/2013, 9:14 AM
@blackman

By the time we get to we get to Spiderman 5 or 6
Andrew Garfield will be 40 yrs old, lol
JoJo1982 - 9/7/2013, 9:25 AM
@destroyerofhaters

I very much agree with what ya say, sometimes it's good to have other companies having the property. Come on guys we had 3 or 4 marvel movies coming out every year.... Their was a time we barely had one come out a yr.

I wasn't a big fan of the amazing Spiderman I thought it was quite boring but I think Sony learned their lesson and trying to bring us something more entertaining Nxt yr
MightyZeus - 9/7/2013, 9:26 AM
I think it's too soon to bring in a Sinister Six. I just hope the studios know what there doing. I'm really eager to see tasm 2 and a sinister six done right down the track.
