Why didn't they use these?

"Hopelessly derivative."

"It feels entirely made by committee - the definition of house style, without a personal stamp in sight."

"Familiarity trumps originality."
Amazing512 - 11/2/2013, 12:30 PM
@ theyoungman You didn't get much love as a child, did you?
FerFogs - 11/2/2013, 12:33 PM
Guys, watched the movie yesterday. I'll try to keep as spoiler-free as I can, here are my thoughts:

- STORY: That's a strong point IMO, I loved the story and the way things develop. The story turning point is a shocking moment that really makes everything change.

- EFFECTS and settings: Top notch as you'd expect by any of these movies nowadays. Loved how Asgard looks more "grounded" this time without losing its charm.

It's also a MUCH more sci-fi movie, as you all saw in the trailers. Asgardian ships sound like SW Pod Racers, that's also a preparation for GoTG, probably.

- HUMOR: there's no argument this is a movie that has one-liners in several moments. They're all funny IMO but I could've gone without jokes during tense scenes. Didn't hurt the movie, but I think Marvel should look into this and keep it under control.

- PACING: It was very good, nice action scenes, plot revealing, locations being introduced... Overall the movie didn't feel rushed or anything, besides one or two quick scenes (Jane Foster being introduced to the movie menace was one of them IMO). Action scenes were great and the end battle was both interesting because of a physical dynamic that's in place at this moment and because of the powers involved. Showing different realms was a nice touch.

- ACTING: well, it was good as you'd expect: Loki is awesome, is clearly given more lines because he's an amazing character. Odin is Odin as you'd expect, THor is the same and Malekith... well Malekith isn't interesting as a character but I wouldn't expect anything different from an ancient ruler obsessed with that source of power. The elves language was a nice touch though.

- EASTER EGGS: Another Avenger appears in a interesting and funny way...

Minor SPOILERS

...and the mid-credits scene... well all I can say is:

I WAS RIGHT FROM DAY ONE. From Avengers to the T:TDW Filming, my speculations regarding those artifacts have proven to be right. Yessssss!!!
Amazing512 - 11/2/2013, 12:37 PM
@ferfogs everybody should do reviews the way you just did
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 11/2/2013, 12:39 PM
That is the best tv spot yet
Ramiel - 11/2/2013, 12:40 PM
This trailer gave me goosebumps. Woohoo!
Tymminator - 11/2/2013, 12:43 PM
Only comic fans can actually be unhappy when a comic movie is perceived as well or doing good, and dance on its grave when it's tanking. There is no other genre that does this. Not fantasy, not sci-fi, just us.

I'm 46 and when I was young, it was easier to talk about comic related stuff with fellow fans,. Nowadays though, it's almost safer to discuss comic stuff with non-comic fans, as lots of fellow comic fans lose their damn minds.

Got my midnight tickets all ready!!
thebearjew - 11/2/2013, 12:47 PM
hhhmmmm
was that the same music from the x-men days of future past trailer??

anyways it looks cool
Tymminator - 11/2/2013, 12:50 PM
The music used for the X-M:DoFP trailer was from Sunshine and Pearl Harbor.
marvel72 - 11/2/2013, 12:57 PM
seen it,comic book movie of the year for me.

@ theyoungman

you could say the same for the dark knight rises, but of course you won't.
FerFogs - 11/2/2013, 12:57 PM
@Amazing512 - Thanks!

@Tymminator - man, I'd go even farther, and say the internet and social media intensified this stupid way to "disagree". Some (most?) people were like this already but couldn't express themselves so easily, now all they can do is posting in a form.

I have hope the newer generations, who were introduced to these technologies from the start, will treat it like an extension of their lives and relations, not as an escape valve as most are now.
Tymminator - 11/2/2013, 1:01 PM
That's very true. Face to face, people never act quite that stupid when we are discussing comic stuff.
TheYoungMan - 11/2/2013, 1:05 PM

@marvel72 1st of all, those aren't my words. 2nd of all, of course I wouldn't say those things about TDKR. Wouldn't make any sense. TDW and TDKR are polar opposites.

@ theyoungman

i'm sure you can find some critic reviews that didn't like the dark knight rises & use them for a critic tv spot.
Cartoon22 - 11/2/2013, 1:17 PM
Can't wait !!!!!!
Spidey91 - 11/2/2013, 1:20 PM
I already have my ticket, and it came with a neat little poster too :)
jcfrommars9 - 11/2/2013, 1:21 PM
@marvel72

Precisely. No matter how good you think a movie is or how imposing the consensus is for saying that a movie is great, they're always someone, somewhere who will say that it's shit and vice versa. The internet just makes such things easier to find now.
TheYoungMan - 11/2/2013, 1:22 PM
@marvel72 I thought you meant the specific quotes I used. But in that case, ya, you could do that for any movie obviously.
marvel72 - 11/2/2013, 1:26 PM
@ theyoungman

you just tried to start some shit with your first comment.

@KlarksCent: Yes. Cry now.
thetoyman - 11/2/2013, 2:46 PM
@KlarksCent: the only marvel movie I want to take seriously now is the winter soldier. Thor and Iron Man were kind of a let down this year.
McNyagano - 11/2/2013, 2:51 PM
SERIOUSLY STOP POSTING SPOILERS. sOME PEOPLE HAVEN'T SEEN THE FILM YET SMH

Thor will only succeed and be on par with the best comic book "Disney - marvel" movie EVER IM3 if ....

1. The villain is a complete fake and paid actor
2. There is a cute kid somewhere in the story line
3. Jane Foster turns out to have super powers and then save's the day and Thor ass$$ in the end making him look like a joke hero.
4. Thor just becomes Donald Blake in the end.
5. Thor is a complete wuss throughout the movie.

Yes that is the key to make a billion dollar movie on par with the great IM3 that all the true comic book fans love and adore !!
