Don't Expect A Cameo From Stan 'The Man' Lee In Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

"No, I'm afraid not," Stan Lee told DweebCast in a video interview when asked if he'll cameo in this summer's Guardians of the Galaxy. "That's the one group I didn't create. I didn't write Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm not even sure who they all are. I can't wait to see the movie." The legendary comic book writer is credited alongside Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers as creators of Groot, who's voiced by Vin Diesel in Guardians, but that apparently wasn't enough for Marvel to give Lee a cameo in the movie which'll kick off the cosmic Marvel cinematic universe. What do you think?

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014.

Aw man. That sucks. This will be his first MCU film he hasn't been in.

I think he's lying.

"I don't know who they ALL are"

Learn to read, plebs.

Makes sense.
A space movie probably wouldn't have had a good place to put him in.
Curmudgeon - 1/21/2014, 6:46 PM
Although, hey, maybe they can put him in the after-credit scene. They usually film those later, right?
ATrueHero1987 - 1/21/2014, 6:48 PM
Even though he was suppose to cameo in the first Blade movie & close to doing a cameo in The Punisher 2004, he doesn't do cameos for superhero movies about characters he didn't co-create.
Bread - 1/21/2014, 6:50 PM
Don't worry Stan, I don't know who they are either.
revloveR - 1/21/2014, 6:52 PM
quill shot first.

NovaCorpsFan - 1/21/2014, 6:53 PM
I didn't think he'd be in it. Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett should cameo as two arguing aliens or something.
NoPhucksGiven - 1/21/2014, 6:53 PM
Hey what the [frick] Stan? If he dosent get his old decrepit great legend ass in the movie us fanboys will riot.
AlexanderLykins - 1/21/2014, 6:53 PM
Give us Thanos casting and trailer! Now!
SuperiorMrGod - 1/21/2014, 6:54 PM
Good. who cares about Stan anyways?
AlexanderLykins - 1/21/2014, 6:55 PM
They should have had a cameo of him just walking around in normal human clothes. That would be [frick]ing hilarious!
BritishMonkey - 1/21/2014, 6:57 PM
I kinda had a feeling he might not be in this one.
JoJo1982 - 1/21/2014, 6:58 PM

GotG
Blade 1
Blade 2
Blade 3
Punisher
Punisher Warzone
The Wolverine
Wolverine Origins
X-men first class
Man Thing
Elektra
faver - 1/21/2014, 6:58 PM
He might be lying so the cameo is a surprise. Or not. I don't really care about his cameos, most of them are distracting and don't add anything except a brief "Ha ha, look it's Stan Lee!" moment.
Lhornbk - 1/21/2014, 6:59 PM
Yeah, if Stan Lee doesn't know all of them, it does not bode well for general audiences accepting the movie.
Bodwulf - 1/21/2014, 7:00 PM
Thor cameo!
JamesMan - 1/21/2014, 7:01 PM
Good, he has no purpose in being in it when he never created the Guardians of the Galaxy. A Stan Lee cameo only needs to exist if he created the characters. Same reason he has no cameo in the Wolverine, Punisher, Ghost Rider, X-Men First Class, and Blade films.
MisterNiceGuy - 1/21/2014, 7:02 PM
Is it possible for there to be a Cantina cameo in GOTG? I would die instantly if we got to see Star Lord and the gang chilling in the bar with the Cantina song playing... that's the type of cameo I want to see
JamesMan - 1/21/2014, 7:04 PM
@AlexanderLykins
"They should have had a cameo of him just walking around in normal human clothes. That would be [frick]ing hilarious!"

That would honestly be brilliant.
GuardianAngel - 1/21/2014, 7:07 PM
According to Stan Lee, the reason Marvel films are so successful are because if people missed his cameo, they'll rewatch the movie over and over again until they catch it. This movie's gonna break the box office!
MisterNiceGuy - 1/21/2014, 7:09 PM
Or some Beta Ray Bill would be nice. Something to get me geeking out like the nick fury Avengers reference in IM2
Parryk - 1/21/2014, 7:09 PM
Good. Getting sick of his forced cameos. Respect the man, hate the cornball cameos.
MightyZeus - 1/21/2014, 7:10 PM
Damn. This sucks. The best part about a good or bad Marvel film is trying to spot or see where Stan Lee is.
BIGBMH - 1/21/2014, 7:12 PM
It's not like he only cameos in the movies of characters he's created. He didn't create Captain America, but he had a cameo in that. Plus, he was in Mallrats and Heroes. Stan Lee cameos aren't even exclusive to Marvel.

It's always nice to see him, but I'm ok with him not doing Guardians.
mctrinket - 1/21/2014, 7:14 PM
Honestly...he's been in enough cameos in enough films now. Proper respect has been shown. There's no need to shoehorn him into any more films at this point.
NoPhucksGiven - 1/21/2014, 7:15 PM
I still feel that his avengers cameo should have been that part where the old janitor guy was talking to banner when he went through the building.
DanMcNice - 1/21/2014, 7:28 PM
He helped create the MARVEL UNIVERSE!!! He should be able to cameo in any (marvel) movie he wants.
On a side note, I would like to see some Star Wars' race have a cameo, not a character, but a race.
Smallvillefan21 - 1/21/2014, 7:30 PM
What about an Emmy Rossum cameo in the movie? Hey a man can dream, cant he? haha
xXkryptoniteXx - 1/21/2014, 7:34 PM
He should have a cameo in the up coming Superman vs Batman film. As the films genre had already progresses, he should just be in a cool cameo scene for just the genre sake. He was also friends with Bob Kane.
