Solo WONDER WOMAN Movie Planned With Gal Gadot

As many suspected when the actress revealed she signed a three-picture contract to play Wonder Woman in the Batman/Superman movie, reports now confirm a standalone film is in the pipeline!

For years, Warner Bros./DC Entertainment have been the butt of every comic book movie joke when it comes to lesser-known characters being adapted before Wonder Woman gets her own film. Well, with Gal Gadot set to play the Amazon Princess in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, the Israeli actress revealed recently that she signed a three-picture deal with the studio. Now according to sources of Variety, they confirm that, in addition to the forthcoming Batman/Superman movie, "Gadot will play the role in a Justice League movie and a Wonder Woman standalone film," earning $300,000 per film. However, when considering the 10-month delay of the first movie on her contract, and not to mention Justice League, it may be umpteen years before Gal Gadot gets to fly solo as Princess Diana. Nonetheless, this news sort of pinpoints how Warner Bros. plans to dish out their many DC characters - releasing two superhero team-up films before the standalone movies - which is basically in reverse of Disney/Marvel Studios' ongoing master plan. What do you think?

Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne, Batman Vs. Superman was scheduled to shoot in Detroit in February. Directed by Zack Snyder from a story by David S. Goyer and screenplay by Chris Terrio, the sequel is set for release May 6, 2016!

I don't understand people's requirement for DC to get Wonder Woman out before Marvel get their female solo out? Have we forgotten the awful female solo films that have come previously from both sides already?

What has changed since?
MrCBM56 - 1/23/2014, 9:27 AM
[frick] yeah!!!

It was pretty obvious but still, I'm so happy!

I Wonder how this movie will do.

They better hope Wonder Woman has a good script and she goes over with fans and the general audience in both Batman vs. Superman and Justice League because it'll bomb if not. Especially if the GA becomes interested cause right now, they're not.
Nomis - 1/23/2014, 9:33 AM
Obviously.
MrCBM56 - 1/23/2014, 9:36 AM
Edgy

Are you talking about the GA not interested in BvS?

I thought it was a given this would happen. But it is good to know its official.

@Batmaniac

That would be one awesome suit to see on film. It gives off warrior vibes. So sadly that means it won't look anything like that.
EdgyOutsider - 1/23/2014, 9:47 AM
@MrCBM: No, I mean the GA isn't interested in Wonder Woman. Which is why it'll bomb if they don't get the audience to like her in BVS and JL. Personally, I remain optimistic.
McNyagano - 1/23/2014, 9:48 AM

Really? This girl who can't act will be starring in her own solo film?I'll still go watch it in theatres no doubt but I have a feeling this won't bode well for WB. She better be great in Batman vs Superman, if she's not well received in that film, it's going to be a problem. WB might be getting their shit together now but this could go two ways. In the words of God himself...

McNyagano - 1/23/2014, 9:49 AM
@Batmaniac

I watched that film yesterday, great film imo. Makes me hyped for a live action JL film.
SpiderFraud - 1/23/2014, 9:54 AM
Gal Gadot carrying a WW movie

@BlackJack

Yeah, that happened to me earlier.

MrBlackJack- Heh, yeah, that was just happenin' to me a minute ago. I just assumed I was hallucinating.
charlie2094 - 1/23/2014, 10:00 AM
@BlackJack

I'm getting that too...sometimes it's been ok, sometimes the last load of articles will disappear, had to refresh the news to see this, for me the top news was about the Assassins Creed director...

Was this ever in doubt? They've said how important it is for Wonder WOman to get her own film sure it'll come, if they're not already working on it. Sure Gadot will be fine, she was cast for a reason, pretty sure her audition and such must've been great to get such an important role
Knightrider - 1/23/2014, 10:04 AM
@Batmanic I think with some tweaks, that is pretty much my ideal WW Costume.
DefcoN - 1/23/2014, 10:07 AM
@Edgy I have a similar feeling to be honest. She has to be really badass in these two movies (kinda like Hulk in The Avengers). Otherwise, her solo film will not be appealing to me.
MrCBM56 - 1/23/2014, 10:08 AM
Lol people complaining about her acting. They hired her for a reason.
Andree24 - 1/23/2014, 10:09 AM
BREAKING NEWS! Wonder Woman solo movie pushed back to 3016.
ALmazing - 1/23/2014, 10:10 AM
Its going to take them at least 4 to 5 years, assuming that WW is the first solo movie they make after JL. Unless they figure out a way to make 2 movies per year, but highly doubt it. Also, a 3 picture deal its pretty standard with franchises, just because they signed her for 3 movies doesn't mean that they'll use her.
DukeAcureds - 1/23/2014, 10:11 AM
This is the most triumphant news ever! Now, I no longer have reservations about Justice League being rushed. We should get a Flash film, too. My only reservations, now are Gadot's acting abilities or lack thereof. But the proof of that would be in the pudding,if she really stinks then just replace her. Not rocket science. But the fact that they plan to follow up Justice League with a Wonder Woman prequel (and then maybe a Flash prequel and a Batfleck spin-off?) is just the best news ever. I'm fully on board, again.

JordanKing@ Have you forgotten the awful male solo superhero films that have been out from various studios, already? Perhaps we should put a stop to the productiof male solo films, huh, moron, would that make any sense? Lets run down thevery short list, shall we:
Barbarella (did well, but wasn't serious and was before 1978, 1989, 2000 and 2012).
Supergirl (did better than Superman III and Superman IV - The Quest For Peace).
Tank Girl (lesser known superhero came out in a year full of lesser known superheroes, the only success being The Mask which featured the biggest star in the world at that time).
Catwoman (Was based on the comic character in name only. Also Catwoman is a supervillian or an anti-hero at best).
Elektra (also falls into the supervillain/anti-hero category and was a spin-off of a flop).
I don't know about you, but this does not give a fair evaluation of the potential of a female superhero film. However, films like The Dark Knight, Spider-Man and The Avengers do give a fair evaluation. They tell us that superhero movies make money and are worth doing. And Wonder Woman is one of the biggest (arguably the third most significant) superheroes of all time.
SpiderFraud - 1/23/2014, 10:11 AM
@CBM56

That doesn't mean they are right in this situation. I trust DC when it come to casting but Gadot is horrible....hopefully they prove me wrong.
ALegendaryPanda - 1/23/2014, 10:13 AM
GOOD!
marvel72 - 1/23/2014, 10:15 AM
called this yesterday......

BATMAN!man of steel 2
justice league
wonder woman

but never trust warner bros,they love delaying/cancelling movies.

DrDoom - 1/23/2014, 10:15 AM
Here's hoping they can get Diana right. Gadot's got a hell of a task ahead of her, portraying one of the most iconic character of all time, but I'm rooting for her.

QuestiontheAnswer - 1/23/2014, 10:16 AM
There's a growing success in female lead films these days, look at the success of Gravity and Hunger Games with Divergent being released in March. Wonder Woman could ride off this at its peak.
McNyagano - 1/23/2014, 10:17 AM
@MrCBM56

"Lol people complaining about her acting. They hired her for a reason."

Are you trying to say she's a good actress?

soforizo - 1/23/2014, 10:17 AM
I hope she fights like that Justice League War movie but with a different personality.
GodzillaKart - 1/23/2014, 10:19 AM
I hope Gadot kicks ass as WW. She seems all wrong to me, and I've never seen anything to indicate that she can act, but I would love to be proven wrong. I think a Wonder Woman film could be absolutely great. She really is like a female Thor. I'm getting tired of DC films letting me down, but dammit, I can't help but get excited about a stand alone WW film.
DeadpoolMikeyXD - 1/23/2014, 10:20 AM
This is taking entirely too long...
