When IGN caught up with The Spectacular Now actor Miles Teller today to discuss his role in Divergent, the interview inevitably became about The Fantastic Four and his role as Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic. "Well, for me I didn't grow up really as a comic book kid necessarily," said Teller when asked what appealed to him about the Marvel reboot. "Fantastic Four is my dad's favorite superhero comic. And so for me I guess what attracted me originally was Josh Trank. I think Josh Trank is a very creative, inventive guy. You look at Chronicle, you look at what he did for that budget and just how he told the story was really well done. I want to chase directors at this point, and then the cast kind of came together -- Michael B. [Jordan], Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell -- I was very excited." He continued, "I was joking around about a year ago, 'I guess I'll be playing a supehero soon' because that's just the world that we're in, but I think a lot of times it just looks like Hollywood actors in Halloween costumes, you know? And I think what we're going to do with Fantastic Four is going to be very grounded and it made sense to me."

"When I read the script, I didn't feel like I was reading this larger-than-life, incredible supehero tale,"
Miles Teller enthused. "These are all very human people that end up having to become I guess what is known as the Fantastic Four. So for me it was just a really good story and gives me an opportunity to play something different from my own skin. It's a proper character and that's my favorite stuff to do." In a separate interview while at the Phoenix premiere of Divergent, Teller told The Nerd Repository that he'll be "leaving pretty soon to start filming" Fantastic Four. He also stated that while doesn't yet know if he will rock Mr. Fantastic's gray temples, he did do a "full body scan the other day for... something" and that's all he knows. What do you think?

The Fantastic Four stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell, and is directed by Josh Trank from a story and screenplay by Jeremy Slater and Simon Kinberg. With principal photography starting on March 31, Marvel's First Family is scheduled to return on June 19, 2015.

the actor that's in the movie is saying good things about it before shooting. unheard of! ya. that means it's going to be great(sarcasm).
iMVuze - 3/8/2014, 4:15 PM
So basically "I hated superheroes until I was offered the role of one and to save face I'm gonna say this story (about a man who stretches, a guy who bursts into flames, another guy who is a rock thing and a girl who turns invisible)is alot more grounded than many superhero films that are out there today so I'm not really doing a superhero movie." I'm glad the Fantastic Four suck anyways lol.

"When I read the script, I didn't feel like I was reading this larger-than-life, incredible supehero tale."

Which is exactly what a Fantastic Four movie should be. smh
ATrueHero1987 - 3/8/2014, 4:28 PM
Damn...where do I start..ok...
@McNy-That was my EXACT response.smh
@MrCBM56-Yea, this movie could be great....or the worst movie ever. So I wouldn't say this movie "owns" yet. Also, you're glad it's take cues from the Ultimate universe...?? Ultimate F4(besides a couple of arcs) was the worst! That along with the other Ultimate titles(with the exception of Ultimate Spider-Man...for the most part.lol)

Seriously, the only I liked so far that I heard about this movie is: Annihilus MIGHT be the villian and the casted a good Sue Storm.
Kurne - 3/8/2014, 4:29 PM
Not necessarily referring to Teller, but it's hard to take anyone's enthusiasm seriously when it comes to accepting a CBM role these days. Everyone is assuming they'll earn RDJ money or be part of a billion dollar franchise.
HypeExMachina - 3/8/2014, 4:30 PM
@MrCBM56

I do have a small degree of "insider" knowledge, but my info says a "larger-than-life, incredible supehero tale" is exactly what's in store. Miles Teller strikes me as the kind of guy who would lie about getting a movie role, oh wait! he has lied before:

"You can’t control the rumors, that’s how people get hits on their websites; that’s just them doing their job. As long as I’m not the one starting them. Then again, I’ll start a rumor. If I want a movie, like I put a rumor out there for me [auditioning] for Star Wars. It didn’t happen, but I think it got some people [to say], ‘Oh, yeah, maybe he would be right for that.’" -Miles Teller

If you're asking me, the Miles Teller rumor was dead on arrival, started by TheWrap's Jeff Sneider on August 2nd (same person behind this last casting report) and it was officially debunked by Josh Trank's twitter on August 3rd. the director doesn't want this actor as his lead. end of story.
gambgel - 3/8/2014, 4:30 PM
tittle is misleading, he said the script isnt larger than life. but much more grounded.

Honestly, now Im a bit worried. But at the same time, I think the movie will be good, at least in terms of character development and script.

The big question for me right now is if they will adress some cosmic stuff and if the action will be huge or low scale
Kurne - 3/8/2014, 4:30 PM
Exciting, but annoying when I hear "I'm so glad kids can dress up as me on Halloween" :P
ComicsBornAndBred - 3/8/2014, 4:31 PM

TheFirstAvenger97 - 3/8/2014, 4:31 PM
Good cast, hope it turns out well.
ATrueHero1987 - 3/8/2014, 4:32 PM
I "hope" it's good. I'm a fan of the F4 but on the real....I have doubts.

SN: They should wear these!

or the original blue!
Kurne - 3/8/2014, 4:33 PM
What the [frick] does grounded even mean anymore? Lol.
Kurne - 3/8/2014, 4:33 PM
Has Michael Bay called TMNT grounded yet?
McNyagano - 3/8/2014, 4:34 PM
"People saying no footage has been seen and give Fox a chance is like saying "Hey we know this guy raped and molested two kids but we going to go ahead and give him another chance and run this kids daycare center."-Damon

^^That is the best comment I've ever read on this site.
Indy - 3/8/2014, 4:34 PM
Fantastic Four comic have lot humor in them especially between Johnny storm and ben grimm. This property would benefit if went to marvel studios I saying because it true not because I hate fox I like x-men films. FF not batman should not feel grounded.
Jollem - 3/8/2014, 4:34 PM
@MrCBM56 - ah. leaking secrets. next, he absconds to russia
MrCBM56 - 3/8/2014, 4:35 PM
I think when actors say grounded, it means taking itself seriously. Putting yourself in a what if situation of if this happened, what would we do. Example, district 9. That movie is wicked.
YoungThanos - 3/8/2014, 4:35 PM

Wow. All 3 men are so badly miscast, this can't help but be a success.

Barf!!!!!

This turd loaf is gonna make us all wish for the original sh!tty Fantastic Fox Four.

Hopefully, this thing will tank so bad, Fox will stop doing them.

Maybe 7-8 years from now, Marvel will launch a truly fantastic Fantastic 4.
