"We're [still] deciding though," suggested Michael Peña when Collider asked today whether he's officially signed on for Marvel's Ant-Man. "I've been talking to Edgar [Wright] and I think that he's an amazing [director]... Hopefully things work out." The American Hustle actor is rumored to play the Ant-Man villain, an original character named Castillo who is supposedly appears at the beginning of the film and "plays a larger role as the film develops." Anyhow, Ant-Man so far stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Patrick Wilson with Evangeline Lilly also in talks. Under the working title Big Foot, the film is scheduled to shoot in May and release on July 17, 2015.

I hope he is cast. This movie is taking a turn for good to me. Hopefully they find a way to incorporate the younger Pym into he current timeline like someone said with the Time Gem, though doubtful.
Kurne - 3/9/2014, 6:27 PM
I like Pena. He seems really enthusiastic about the script.
Sophisticated - 3/9/2014, 6:30 PM
End of Watch.

Where's Bart Scott ? Can't Wait!
SuperCat - 3/9/2014, 6:37 PM
Seems like a nice guy. Happy he's getting some good roles.
DrDoom - 3/9/2014, 6:37 PM
I just really want to see AIM in this movie . . . . please
TheMexicanSuperman - 3/9/2014, 6:39 PM
Antman will be the cbm of 2015.
DrunkenNukem - 3/9/2014, 6:40 PM
Yeah you better praise Edgar Wright
Optimus83 - 3/9/2014, 6:43 PM
Cool. ...A Latin Supervillian
kalisto2010 - 3/9/2014, 6:43 PM
The guy in the Comic he's gonna play was White. I'm not seeing this PC bullshite. Trying to appease Latinos by including them in a universal medium that a myriad of cultures from around the world have eagerly embraced is communism.
batmanvsuperman - 3/9/2014, 6:51 PM
He will be the villain
TheMexicanSuperman - 3/9/2014, 6:51 PM
@kalisto2010, oh shut up you idoit. It's not like you read any comic based on Antman anyways. I didn't hear a out cry by Latinos, including myself, when Bane was changed from Hispanic to a white/middle eastern man in TDKR.
JoJo1982 - 3/9/2014, 6:52 PM
Very talented actor.... we need more Latinos in cbm, not just villains though
batmanvsuperman - 3/9/2014, 6:52 PM
I need the youtube version
McGee - 3/9/2014, 7:05 PM
@MexicanSuperman

TOM HARDY ISN'T MEXICAN!!!???

But....he's so small....
NoPhucksGiven - 3/9/2014, 7:07 PM
I want to be excited about this. but its just not there.
Destined - 3/9/2014, 7:11 PM
One of my fave actors. It would be great if he could be in this movie.
ComicsBornAndBred - 3/9/2014, 7:12 PM
Pena is a great actor. Hope he comes on board Ant Man. @Kalisto Bane's background is never truly specified. He could possibly have been Hispanic. Hardy acknowledge that he studied Bane and his roots when researching the role. He could have been Spaniard, making him appear white as some spaniard a look white or he oils have been any number of South American backgrounds as some of them look white as well.
MercwithMouth - 3/9/2014, 7:15 PM
He was great in Shooter. Hope he's in it.

And @dumbass

He's playing an original character that happens to share a name with a comic character. Did you read the article?
mctrinket - 3/9/2014, 7:46 PM
The film seems like it's shaping up to be the red-headed stepchild of the rest of the MCU.
UltimateHunt - 3/9/2014, 7:47 PM
Not just because im latino but he is great talented actor. Very underrated, thank you MCU for this casting, there should be more variety not just british actors.
wookiefit76 - 3/9/2014, 7:48 PM
So he's no one in particular?

@ Merc
Saw your avatar and swung over to Hall of Shame. That sucks. Hopefully they let her back on. Hell, if Gusto can get back on, she should be able to.
RetroFit - 3/9/2014, 7:50 PM
Since the villain is this Castillo character I think that all but confirms Patrick Wilson as 60s Hank Pym! Sweet!
RetroFit - 3/9/2014, 7:52 PM
@ kalisto2010

You said, "The guy in the Comic he's gonna play was White. I'm not seeing this PC bullshite. Trying to appease Latinos"

According to the article, this Castillo character is actually an original character created for the movie. And where would you think that a character named CASTILLO would be anything BUT Latino? CASTILLO!
ezra - 3/9/2014, 8:04 PM
Pena deserves this. I loved him in End of Watch, and his scenes were the best parts about Crash, IMO. Those scenes with his daughter...

Also, he was pretty hilarious in American Hustle.
sinsear912 - 3/9/2014, 8:06 PM
im thinking either egghead or modok
Starfox - 3/9/2014, 8:10 PM
Just keep your mouth shut Pena
MightyZeus - 3/9/2014, 8:11 PM
I wonder who the actor could be playing? I'm also looking forward to seeing AIM being included in the film.
Kurne - 3/9/2014, 8:28 PM
Just realized we'll be getting the first Twitter reactions to Cap tomorrow.
Ramiel - 3/9/2014, 9:10 PM
It be cool if he was cast. I liked him in End of Watch and American Hustle.
TheAmericanPatriot - 3/9/2014, 9:17 PM
Take the role and run Pena! Its cools to see minority actors taking up roles in Superhero movies he'll kill it as the villian (I hope Kim Soo Hyun is a villian too).
Praetorian - 3/9/2014, 9:22 PM
Michael Pena: MODOK
Michael Dougles: Modern day Hank Pym.
Patrick Wilson: 1960's Hank Pym
Rashida Jones: 1960's Wasp (Janet Van Dyne).
Paul Rudd: Scott Lang
Evangeline Lilly: Modern day Wasp (Janet Pym- Hank and Jan's daughter).
beane2099 - 3/9/2014, 9:24 PM
I'm pretty sure kalisto2010 was being hyperbolously sarcastic there. And yeah, I just made up the word hyperbolously. It's my gift to all. Use it in good health.
Inhuman - 3/9/2014, 9:25 PM
Give me Egghead and MODOK please
mgeoff88 - 3/9/2014, 9:44 PM
I hope he is cast in the movie. It was rumored the part he was in talks for was a supervillain that Hank Pym fought in the 60's.
Shamo - 3/9/2014, 10:40 PM
One of the best supporting actors in the business. Good job Marvel Studios, this is how you cast.
TheRealistStarLord - 3/9/2014, 11:35 PM
Either he is Modok or Egghead. Pena is a very good actor who can play both comedy and serious. End if Watch made me like him more..
LittleDanglyThing - 3/10/2014, 12:41 AM
LOL Ant-Man's rouges gallery is SO BAD that they created a completely original villain.
Seriously though Michael Pena is awesome he should totally do it.
dethpillow - 3/10/2014, 2:07 AM
cool, i never pictured Wright's Ant-Man as really being very villain focused, and would be surprised to see him use Egghead or MODOK or the whirlwind guy or anyone from comics really.

i get the feeling that the movie is more about the two Ant-Mans. and the villain(s), or villain organization being kinda generic, so they don't take up too much personality for the movie.

so this sounds cool to me.
i really like Edgar Wright tho, so it's pretty easy for me to be optimistic about anything he decides to do.
SnapperCarr - 3/10/2014, 2:52 AM
I want Egghead!
