Chris Evans Clarifies His THOR: THE DARK WORLD Cameo Didn't Count Towards MARVEL Contract Chris Evans Clarifies His THOR: THE DARK WORLD Cameo Didn't Count Towards MARVEL Contract

While also setting the record straight about prior comments that he's taking a break from acting, Captain America: The Winter Soldier star Chris Evans clarifies how many Marvel films he's committed to filming.

“Oh yeah, this was a big thing!” Chris Evans told Collider of his comments that he would take a break acting after finishing his contract with Marvel Studios. “I gotta watch what I say, I will absolutely clarify. I have a six-movie contract with Marvel and I absolutely plan on fulfilling them. This is without a doubt the biggest blessing in my life. Marvel has literally changed the game for me, and they make great movies. I did direct last year and it was a really fantastic experience, I really enjoyed it. So I’m certainly looking to do that a bit more, so when it comes to exploring other acting jobs I may not be as proactive in trying to find those, I may kind of stick with my Marvel universe in terms of getting in front of the camera, and then getting behind the camera outside of it.” When asked if his cameo in Thor: The Dark World last year counted towards his six-picture deal, Evans clarified “it did not... as far as I know.” What do you think?

Good.

I guess if you cameo in a film it does not count towards your contract.

Remember when morons were saying that Marvel treats all their actors like shit and that they are almost fed up with it? suck it

This was kind of just a given to me, the appearance was uncredited, why the hell would Marvel waste a slot for a full film on his contract to devote it to a 5 second cameo? Anyway, I would love to Cap on Agents Of Shield. Him, Widow, and Hawkeye would fit in quite easily on the show and it would draw in epic ratings.

I'm telling you, if Marvel offers him a chance to direct a Marvel movie as well as play Cap, I think he'll jump. Just let Cap sit out a phase so he can catch his breath, maybe direct one of those movies or one of the Netflix series and see where he is.

well, judging from past good looking leading men, Redford, Beatty, Costner, Clooney, Eastwood and Gibson.. i think he'll be in good company, IF he's actually got the directing chops.

I didn't think his cameo in Thor:TDW counted toward his contract. That would really surprise me if it did.
RRA
RRA - 3/11/2014, 9:43 PM
No offense gang but the "acting break" stuff sounds like a negotiating ploy. Call me cynical. Remember RDJ saying he's getting too old for Iron Man, before he got his payday?

0megaDaGod - Let's be honest, no offense to Evans but I don't see him becoming a major movie star in a move without that flying shield. RDJ is A-list, Chris Hemsworth could become A-list someday. Evans? No. So yeah I could see him stick around and play Cap as his mealticket while on the side he does his indie/foreign movies and direct stuff.

That is of course if he doesn't demand the Moon and Marvel doesn't only offer pebbles. If he and Marvel can make a deal that both sides are happy with, why not keep Evans? Don't piss away a great casting that's the core of your successful franchise simply because you're greedy over a few millions, when box-office BILLIONS are at stake!

2gold - I could see Feige dangle the possibility of letting Evans direct CA4 as part of those negotiations.

Anybody remember Hiddleston saying somewhere that he wanted to direct THOR 3? Well...why not consider that possibility as well?

Let's go back in time and remember that was how Paramount was able to get Leonard Nimoy to come back to play Spock in the STAR TREK movies: A promise to direct one of the sequels. (That and getting killed off.) Spock died in WRATH OF KAHN, Nimoy directed the decent Part 3. Did well enough, he came back to direct part IV, which was the franchise box-office champion until the Abrams TREK movies came along.

RRA - 3/11/2014, 9:47 PM
mgeoff88 -if it had, no friggin way Marvel would've blown a contract entry just for a friggin cameo. No way.
MadTitan
MadTitan - 3/11/2014, 10:20 PM
@RRA - no offense but RDJ is a product of the 80's. hes had his own ups and down and prior to taking IM he's at his low point. Then it clicks! then boom all of a sudden RDJ is the reborn hero of the tinseltown. But what separates Evans from the other supposed "superstars" are that the guy knows how to play it cool and keep his feet on the ground. he's not a spotlight hugger for sure and it he will continue with that path. then by no means he surely join the ranks of Robert Redford, Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood, Kevin Costner et all, respected both in and out of the spotlight.
