Chris Evans Clarifies His THOR: THE DARK WORLD Cameo Didn't Count Towards MARVEL Contract

“Oh yeah, this was a big thing!” Chris Evans told Collider of his comments that he would take a break acting after finishing his contract with Marvel Studios. “I gotta watch what I say, I will absolutely clarify. I have a six-movie contract with Marvel and I absolutely plan on fulfilling them. This is without a doubt the biggest blessing in my life. Marvel has literally changed the game for me, and they make great movies. I did direct last year and it was a really fantastic experience, I really enjoyed it. So I’m certainly looking to do that a bit more, so when it comes to exploring other acting jobs I may not be as proactive in trying to find those, I may kind of stick with my Marvel universe in terms of getting in front of the camera, and then getting behind the camera outside of it.” When asked if his cameo in Thor: The Dark World last year counted towards his six-picture deal, Evans clarified “it did not... as far as I know.” What do you think?

GOOD!

Maybe he'll have a cameo in Agents of SHIELD one day too!

WINTER SOLDIER spin off movie would be great too, well if Winter Soldier survives the CAP sequel ofc :p
DrDoom - 3/11/2014, 4:47 PM
It obviously didn't.

RDJ signed for four movies with Marvel and his contract ended after Iron Man 3, which means his Incredible Hulk cameo didn't count.
OpticBlastWins - 3/11/2014, 4:50 PM
I dont think anybody though it did but great. You cant turn down that paycheck. Evans is Cap
JoJo1982 - 3/11/2014, 4:53 PM
Let's hope a cameo in Agents of shield don't count either ;)
LEEE777 - 3/11/2014, 5:00 PM

RamonSuarez - 3/11/2014, 5:04 PM
Get Evans to direct an episode of AOS or one the Marvel shorts.

MightyZeus - 3/11/2014, 5:06 PM
Good.

I guess if you cameo in a film it does not count towards your contract.
AsgardianHobo - 3/11/2014, 5:11 PM
Remember when morons were saying that Marvel treats all their actors like shit and that they are almost fed up with it? suck it

Anyways, its so awesome how dedicated and excited Evans is when it comes to playin Cap
smlshin - 3/11/2014, 5:11 PM
Did anyone see how jacked his arms are in that interview?
WingDingaLing - 3/11/2014, 5:23 PM
Good. Keep coming back for more Chris!
MrAisA - 3/11/2014, 5:24 PM
Seems like a nice guy.
McGee - 3/11/2014, 5:24 PM
Marvel owns your ass Chris!
McGee - 3/11/2014, 5:24 PM
Just like WB owns DC Comics.

...only less rape.
Jhuntdaprodigy - 3/11/2014, 5:34 PM
This was kind of just a given to me, the appearance was uncredited, why the hell would Marvel waste a slot for a full film on his contract to devote it to a 5 second cameo? Anyway, I would love to Cap on Agents Of Shield. Him, Widow, and Hawkeye would fit in quite easily on the show and it would draw in epic ratings.
Destined - 3/11/2014, 5:39 PM
Chris is the bae, glad he's sticking around!
RamonSuarez - 3/11/2014, 5:40 PM
I just saw the early positive reviews on Twitter were from reviews on Collider, Buzzfeed, and Cinema Blend. Awesome that these aren't just casual nobodies but real fans.
ezio619 - 3/11/2014, 5:40 PM
omegadagod-thats what i thought too,i wonder if we wont get a situation like that, maybe chris evans only acts as cap and then when he is not in a film as cap, can direct his next project or something,i hope he continues beyond his contract,i reallllllllllllllly like him as cap and apprently in Winter Soldier, he is his best yet
MadTitan - 3/11/2014, 5:43 PM
Good!! Evans is Cap. I think Evans is one hell of a cool and good actor and he deserves the success hes enjoying right now..that said i can't wait till CAP 2 starts rolling!!
ezio619 - 3/11/2014, 5:46 PM
so i guess that then the cameo didnt count,so its avengers 2, cap 3 and avengers 3
johnblake - 3/11/2014, 5:46 PM
But foreal though. Still wana see him fight the hulk like in the Ultimates.
ezio619 - 3/11/2014, 5:58 PM
i plan on watching the captain america double feature that amc is doing,i really loved the first one,i loved the indiana jones vibe, the performances was great, its till my favorite marvel studios solo film so hopefully i can catch both caps
TheAbomination - 3/11/2014, 6:03 PM
Six movie contract = The First Avenger, The Avengers, The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron, Cap 3, Avengers 3. Sounds about right to me.
Jer3miah - 3/11/2014, 6:08 PM
What? When the hell did he have a Thor: TDW cameo? I do not recall this by ANY means.
Bekss - 3/11/2014, 6:08 PM
I thought the Marvel contract was something already clarified.
And the cameo thing was something obvious.
poop23 - 3/11/2014, 6:13 PM
Jer3miah - It was like mid movie, just keep a close eye on loki and you just mite see cap :P
xfan320 - 3/11/2014, 6:22 PM
DUH!!

Three CAP films, Three AVENGERS...
2gold - 3/11/2014, 6:39 PM
I'm telling you, if Marvel offers him a chance to direct a Marvel movie as well as play Cap, I think he'll jump. Just let Cap sit out a phase so he can catch his breath, maybe direct one of those movies or one of the Netflix series and see where he is.
bropous - 3/11/2014, 7:05 PM
LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dammit, don't stay away so long, man!

So WHICH Avenger will we see as the FIRST Avenger Director???
bropous - 3/11/2014, 7:11 PM
'Cause can any of you not see RDJ in the Director's chair?
dethpillow - 3/11/2014, 7:24 PM
i like that he talks about the things he dislikes, it's kinda interesting, i think. and i don't see a lot of backlash towards him that he's acting ungrateful or something, cuz i think he's just obviously being honest about it, and it doesn't come across to me as negative or ugly.

i think that's realized overall. people like him in general.
dethpillow - 3/11/2014, 7:26 PM
also the older he gets, i think the more he suits Cap.
Inhuman - 3/11/2014, 8:02 PM
I never thought it did to begin with. Evans is such a cool dude. I hope he gets to live his dream and direct. Im glad they are pushing Captain America 3 for Phase 3. He'll live his dream soon

FengLin - 3/11/2014, 8:58 PM
he's more mature...and he loves his beard
EarOne - 3/11/2014, 9:10 PM
well, judging from past good looking leading men, Redford, Beatty, Costner, Clooney, Eastwood and Gibson.. i think he'll be in good company, IF he's actually got the directing chops.
mgeoff88 - 3/11/2014, 9:21 PM
I didn't think his cameo in Thor:TDW counted toward his contract. That would really surprise me if it did.
RRA - 3/11/2014, 9:43 PM
No offense gang but the "acting break" stuff sounds like a negotiating ploy. Call me cynical. Remember RDJ saying he's getting too old for Iron Man, before he got his payday?

0megaDaGod - Let's be honest, no offense to Evans but I don't see him becoming a major movie star in a move without that flying shield. RDJ is A-list, Chris Hemsworth could become A-list someday. Evans? No. So yeah I could see him stick around and play Cap as his mealticket while on the side he does his indie/foreign movies and direct stuff.

That is of course if he doesn't demand the Moon and Marvel doesn't only offer pebbles. If he and Marvel can make a deal that both sides are happy with, why not keep Evans? Don't piss away a great casting that's the core of your successful franchise simply because you're greedy over a few millions, when box-office BILLIONS are at stake!

2gold - I could see Feige dangle the possibility of letting Evans direct CA4 as part of those negotiations.

Anybody remember Hiddleston saying somewhere that he wanted to direct THOR 3? Well...why not consider that possibility as well?

Let's go back in time and remember that was how Paramount was able to get Leonard Nimoy to come back to play Spock in the STAR TREK movies: A promise to direct one of the sequels. (That and getting killed off.) Spock died in WRATH OF KAHN, Nimoy directed the decent Part 3. Did well enough, he came back to direct part IV, which was the franchise box-office champion until the Abrams TREK movies came along.
RRA - 3/11/2014, 9:47 PM
mgeoff88 -if it had, no friggin way Marvel would've blown a contract entry just for a friggin cameo. No way.
Sunnyd - 3/11/2014, 10:15 PM
He is fantastic...
Been a great addition to CBM's
People forget he was not only in the FF movies but in Scott Pilgrim , the Losers and Push.
We are lucky to have an actor like him doing CBM's at least IMO
