During Colliders lengthy chat with Joe and Anthony Russo, among things the sibling directors discussed were Captain America: The Winter Soldier scenes left on the cutting room floor. Revealing that there are about 5 of them thatll feature on the DVD/Blu-ray, Joe Russo described one particular scene with high praise. There's a great scene that got cut thats like master class in acting between Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson that took place near the end of the second act,” reveals the co-director. Its when they find Fury in the Bunker. Natasha takes issue with the fact that Fury did not let her in on the fact that he was still alive; she actually believed he was dead. Its a nice reflective moment for her where she goes Oh my God, this is the world I invited myself to? Fury says, I had to keep the circle small. Short scene, but its a great one. Joe Russo went on to explain that it was actually Scarlett Johansson who suggested the scene be taken out:  After she saw the movie, and loved it, she goes: It just seems there was a bit of a drag in that section. This is crazy for me to recommend, but do we really need that scene between me and Sam? Is there really narrative content in that scene? You could still get the arc out of my character without it. So, she actually recommended cutting her own scene.

It's good to here ScarJo gave some creative input. It shows how passionate she is about her work if she's willing to cut her own scene for the sake of the movie, so kudos to ScarJo.

I would love to get extended cuts of each movie including these deleted scenes. I hate watching them separately. Lord of the Rings has spoiled me

I think more breaks from all out action would have helped.

To me, Robert Redford's character was allowed more actual acting time and development than anyone else's.
Argetlam22 - 4/10/2014, 1:20 PM
@BatManiac She was in 90% of the movie, at the very least. Cutting five or even ten minutes worth of screen time isn't that big of a loss for her in TWS.
JoJo1982 - 4/10/2014, 1:22 PM
I heard like there was only 7 minutes of the movie that got cut out...... Not bad!!!

But yeah I would've like that scene to be in the movie, it would open more doors on black widow and nick fury's relationship
cipher - 4/10/2014, 1:22 PM
Great f*cking movie.
JoJo1982 - 4/10/2014, 1:24 PM
@joe

This movie didn't have too many action scenes

But pretty long action scenes

I was pleased with how much action it had
Havensent - 4/10/2014, 1:25 PM
Loving all these behind the scenes images.

I don't get why so many movies cut small character moments. They don't add too much to the screentime, and even if they don't always push the narrative forward, they do give us interesting insights. This sounds like the sort of scene I would've liked to see. Of course, I would actually need to see it first, but I guess my attitude about editing is different from a lot of people's because of my predilection for prose.
Nick56 - 4/10/2014, 1:29 PM
I too enjoy small character moments (I felt they were lacking that in TWS).
MrNiklander - 4/10/2014, 1:31 PM
Interesting still movie rocked after seeing it last night easily the best film of Phase 2 that is till GOTG hits theaters
Spock0Clock - 4/10/2014, 1:31 PM
After watching it three times, I'm 90% sure that Danny Pudi had a line that got cut when Cap took over the communications room. Ir was probably something like: "I'm actually a huge fan" or something nerdy/funny/slightly fourth-wall breaking. If so, I'm glad it got cut, but as a Community fan, I'd still like to see it.
ezio619 - 4/10/2014, 1:35 PM
i have only seen it once,i do plan on seeing it again this weekend but the pacing worked for me,i was engaged throughout the film,plus having only 5-7 minutes cut from a 2 hr and 16 min film is pretty darn amazing, i do wish this would have been in it,it does give a little more to black widows arc but it works fine without it imo
Scarilian - 4/10/2014, 1:35 PM
Now that is a good actress - rather than try to cram in more scenes of herself she actually thinks about the movie and questions the director as to whether the scene fits.
Scarilian - 4/10/2014, 1:37 PM
@DrDoom
Depends when it takes place in the film - the scene with Nick Fury for example was the scene where it dragged in the 'middle?' for me - this would have put an extra few minutes onto that. We'll probably see it as a deleted scene any who :3
Gusto - 4/10/2014, 1:37 PM
Moral of the story...
Fury likes Maria Hill better!
Take that, Butterface!

FRICK HYDRA!!!, im with AIM
Jwe75 - 4/10/2014, 1:44 PM
Nice to know that these actors care about their roles and are listened by directors etc. Maybe Evans will remind Whedon to keep Cap this Bad ass ;)

This movie is so good. Thry really nailed it all the way .... Thanks
LittleDanglyThing - 4/10/2014, 1:50 PM
Hopefully Maria Hill gets more stuff to do next time.
Spock0Clock - 4/10/2014, 1:50 PM
@Jwe75

After seeing Winter Soldier, I'm actually very worried about what Whedon will do with Cap. (Based on Avengers) he doesn't seem to really dig the character or respect his skills.

I had similar problems with his writing of X-Men comics. It seems Joss plays favorites with ensembles...

@dorsk188
Danny Pudi's cameo made me shriek with excitement in the middle of a crowded theater. It's a shame that only a few people got it though
DurtyTalynt - 4/10/2014, 2:05 PM
Jesus this movie was amazing! Every part. I was proud to be a comicbook fan more than ever watching this. I bought my four year old the new toy shield fro. The movie and he pretend fought with it in his seat throughout the whole film. Brilliant
Ocelot - 4/10/2014, 2:12 PM
They cut out quite a bit of The Winter Soldier's scenes.
TheAstoundingMan - 4/10/2014, 2:23 PM
@dorsk188

Some characters will always draw the short straw in ensembles. As you say, it can be the result of a writer/director playing favourites, but much of it has to do with the story, and letting it be told as naturally as possible.

I hope Cap gets more attention in AoU, and that Joss had plenty of time to ensure that everything about his character (athleticism, attitude, approach to leaership) is carried over from TWS.
DanteSparda - 4/10/2014, 2:27 PM
I would love to see that, here is hope for a director's cut in the Blue Ray.
chuckg313 - 4/10/2014, 2:39 PM
Hail Hydra
Destined - 4/10/2014, 2:47 PM
@dorsk188 I feel what you're saying. Even Chris mentioned how he's looking forward to Cap 3 a bit more than AOU.
