Zack Snyder Says Superman Sequel First Before JUSTICE LEAGUE

Zack Snyder Says Superman Sequel First Before JUSTICE LEAGUE Zack Snyder Says Superman Sequel First Before JUSTICE LEAGUE

Talking to Collider, director Zack Snyder says if he had a choice, he'd opt for a sequel to Man of Steel before a Justice League film. Do you agree with Snyder's choice or would you care for something different in the Man of Steel follow-up?

Previously, lots of information has been said from various individuals at Warner Bros. about a Justice League film. Some of those quotes have even come from Zack Snyder himself. In fact, there was a previous statement from Snyder where he confirmed that if Warner Bros. greenlights a Justice League film, he'll be asked to direct. However, as in the case of most of these quotes, many of them were given in interviews that were conducted months or in some cases, years prior. But speaking today (mere hours ago) at the press junket for Man of Steel, Snyder says he feels that if we're speaking hypothetically, "I feel like you need … to get Superman a little further down the road I think, before you can do a Justice League movie." And when asked about persistent rumors about a 2015 release date for Justice League, Snyder followed with, "Yeah, I don’t know who 'they' are." With 'they' being the people who instigated talks of a 2015 release date. In closing, the director's final thought was, "All I’m saying is that you’ve got to get Superman further down the road." There has been lots of discussion here at CBM about whether Warner Bros. should follow up Man of Steel with a sequel, a World's Finest film or a Justice League ensemble feature. Which option would you like to see the most as a fan and which option do you think would be better for the Man of Steel franchise? Are those two answers the same?

A damn good idea. The last thing they need to do is rush into anything.

Just like I have been saying no concrete information until closer to this film release date and Comic Con.

Just like Iron Man? It would definitely work, but I'm super impatient and want it NOW.

Ideally they will flesh out other heroes too during / before Superman's sequel.

Do a World's Finest movie, then Wonder Woman, then JL!

WB is damned if they do and damned if they don't. When they initially announced they were developing Batman, Wonder Woman and Flash movies that would lead to a Justice League movie, people accused them of copying Marvel Studios' formula. Then when they announce they aren't going the same route as Marvel and will introduce the heroes in a Justice League film, people say it's a bad idea to not introduce the characters in solo films prior to the Justice League movie.

Yea, i'd rather see a MOS sequel before a JL movie.

Aboslutely agree.

Actually I perfer a Worlds Finest film as oppose to a MOS sequel.

Just too many iconic characters to just blast into a movie like Justice League without anykind of setup.

Yes I agree I'd like a sequel then a World's Finest spinning off into a Justice League movie.

He's right though, cuz if Supes is gonna be a core member of the team, he's got a be a more experienced and has gone toe to toe with some of his rogues gallery already if he's gonna head up a team that will battle a rumored villain like Darksied.

I've said this many times before, WB should do a Flash, Aquaman, and a Wonder Woman movie before JL.

Why the [frick] would you want to see a rushed out JL film? Building up 6 members in One film is stupid. Never made sense to me.

Give this man a truck load of money and a few good writers and let him direct all the solo team member movies and JL.

This guys artistic vision for this genre is stellar. Sometimes you just have to know what lane to stay in.

I find it assuring that Snyder likes the idea of World's Finest. Would be a sweet approach to a sequel.

I really hope WB doesn't sandbag this franchise just to make a rushed Justice League cash grab movie. Superman deserves an epic Trilogy just like Batman.

Here's how I'd do it

Summer 2015
Man of Steel Sequel with some dc universe references

Winter 2015
Batman Reboot or Flash Solo movie

Then in summer 2016 around May, you do your first team-up movie with World's Finest: $1 billion at the box office.

And then later on in the summer or winter you do a full on Justice League Movie. Another billion dollar movie.

Boom

Everyone knows who Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Green Arrow, and most of the rest of the JL are. You don't need movies introducing each character before you do the team movie.
TheDARKestKNIGHT
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 5/31/2013, 7:22 PM
I agree with @BANE5000. Though Batman may be the strategic leader of the team and hold things together, Supes is the heart and moral compass of the team.

They may know who they are, but a lot of the GA has no idea about their backstrories other than supes and batman.
TheWolverine08
TheWolverine08 - 5/31/2013, 7:24 PM
@JeremyOP It is not about the public knowing the JL, it's about how cluttered it would get introducing them and fleshing them all in one movie.
ATrueHero1987
ATrueHero1987 - 5/31/2013, 7:25 PM
@JeremyOP They may know who Aquaman or The Flash are by what they look like and/or power(s) but doesn't mean they know everything else about them say like Batman or Superman.
AlternateNo4
AlternateNo4 - 5/31/2013, 7:25 PM
i guess world's finest makes sense because it's a guarantee... but it would make more sense to me to see batman/flash (barry on loan from central to help gordon with something and then meets bruce) and superman/gl (clark goes cosmic and hal investigates and then helps).

bruce and clark give the other two characters instant legitimacy. in fact, they could credits-scene in a couple of others (bruce & barry discover themyscira during the investigation, hal & clark hear a distress call from mars on their way home) and then go straight to jl because arthur is the only one left to really introduce.

No one really knows in my opinion. Ask anyone about Wonder Woman and all they can say is she has spangly underwear and flies an invisible jet. She (among others) need to be fleshed out first.
AlternateNo4
AlternateNo4 - 5/31/2013, 7:30 PM
they could even go the new frontier route and save arthur for the end of JL... then they'd be set up for a solo aquaman movie OR a wonder woman team up.

Give Snyder, Nolan, and Goyer the keys to DC and sit back and relax - that's your solution WB. Stop [frick]ing around. Do not follow the Marvel formula. Nothing wrong with the Marvel formula - but it just is not right for DC and will not work. A JL movie without the build up of other characters will also work - the general public are already familiar with Supes, Bats, and Wonder Woman . . . and Green Lantern a bit (but do John Stewart). You can also do a Superman/Batman movie and introduce Supergirl - the prequel comic kind of has a setup for that already where you could tie in elements of the comic series into it (the "Superman/Batman" series - updated World's Finest). It worked in "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse" the animated movie. Do it. You can also introduce Darkseid into that - nice setup for JL.

X-Men are the perfect example of the fact that you don't need build up movies for a superhero ensemble movie - and also Watchmen, which was great.

yes this makes sense and this should happen!!
its only fair....as much as i want to see batman n superman together in a film i think that should happen AFTER a JL movie...
let superman have his trilogy first
