Lionsgate has debuted the first television spot for the upcoming action flick Dredd 3D, which stars Karl Urban as Judge Dredd. Featuring new snippets of footage and dialogue from the Pete Travis-directed September 21st release, check out the thirty second TV spot entitled "Legendary" down below!

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed. During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Dredd 3D stars Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson, Lena Headey as Madeline Madrigal, Domhnall Gleeson as Travis Synders, Langley Kirkwood as Judge Lex, Francis Chouler as Judge Guthrie and Deobia Oparei as Judge T.J. Alvarez! The film hits cinemas September 21st, 2012!

marvel72: I truly believed we were getting a new trailer with The Expendables 2, but that obviously didn't happen. I think we may get a one-minute TV spot at the least.

They should have picked a better song.

I DO "dread" 3D. I'll rent this though. Hopefully, it's good. I'll wait for the reviews.

There is some in the Dredd featurette, loking through a wall.

All reviews so far say it's good.

There is? :o - Damn, need to re-watch that!.

This is the first time this film has mentioned

JUDGE DREDD.

No other promo trailer/poster/recent interview has mentioned the character's full name. As anyone that's reads 2000AD will know, the title of the character is Judge Dredd, it's not Dredd. Finally, the producers show some proper respect! Took them long enough.

Looking VERY good.

@dreddhead123 - Did you honestly think they weren't going to mention his 'name' throughout the whole movie? They said in the first trailer that they were the Judges and this one is called Dredd.
dollstix - 8/21/2012, 4:55 AM
Loving the mention of Stumm gas and Fergee. Nice nod to the fans along with the city block names.
KeithM - 8/21/2012, 5:06 AM
dreddhead: I note your name isn't "judgedreddhead". Hypocrite much? Or have you just run out of nits to pick?
fettastic - 8/21/2012, 6:23 AM
It's almost funny that he's doing a Clint Eastwood impression. Of course that's about as authentic as you can get since Dredd was inspired by Dirty Harry. Total opposite of Stallone's drill sargeant take on the character.

I'm sure I'll give the film a chance at some point, but even though I'm a lifelong Dredd fan....I won't see this in theaters.
