bagadoosh - 9/1/2012, 9:01 AM
the hunt for red october , patriot games , clear and peasant danger and the sum of all fears . Good flicks check them out . sum of all fears was propbably the weakest of the bunch

There is no 'original.'

They are a series of books by Robert Ludlum which several have been turned into movies in the past: The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears.

I don't know which book this movie is supposed to be adapting, if any one in particular.

People are calling it a 'reboot' of the Jack Ryan character, but its just a new actor playing the role of Jack Ryan, while 3 different actors have previously played that role (Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck).
bagadoosh - 9/1/2012, 9:03 AM
alec baldwin , harrison ford and ben afflec all played jack ryan
bagadoosh - 9/1/2012, 9:04 AM

DrainBamage - 9/1/2012, 9:04 AM
@ckal Tom Clancy, not Ludlum.
ckal - 9/1/2012, 9:05 AM
I'm sorry I wrote Robert Ludlum I meant Tom Clancy.
ckal - 9/1/2012, 9:06 AM
Yeah I just realized I wrote Ludlum by accident but I see you're all on top of it thanks.
ckal - 9/1/2012, 9:07 AM
Hey indubitably, I've heard you have never accidentally made a mistake before. You should freeze some of that sperm of yours and sell it since every woman would clearly clamor after some of your genes.
bagadoosh - 9/1/2012, 9:08 AM
@ Indub simple mistake no need to get harsh
CrimsonArk - 9/1/2012, 9:10 AM
Dammit! Why couldn't this have been a Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell movie?:(
bagadoosh - 9/1/2012, 9:13 AM
@ckal lmao I was sticking up for you but I see you have the situation under control
Blanka1212 - 9/1/2012, 9:14 AM
Accidentally making a mistake is a bit redundant. Of course it's a mistake. That's what accidents are. That's like saying that I purposely intended to do something. Your whole intention is on purpose. No need to say it twice. Your English lesson has been brought to you by Blanka. You're welcome.

grammar police
ckal - 9/1/2012, 9:26 AM
bagadoosh-

Haha thanks anyways man. Some people try to hide their own embarrassing character defects by attempting to take down others.

Speaking of which...

Blanka-

You can make a mistake if you truly did not previously know the facts. You can also make a different kind of mistake where you actually know the facts but accidentally type or say something incorrect. Hope your head didn't just explode, but thanks for wasting your time nitpicking grammar.
BRandom - 9/1/2012, 9:30 AM
Oh ok, Yea I remember them now. Harrison Ford is my favorite actor (Mainly old school stuff) but the others not so much...Seen the films, all good, Did't put it together though.

@Indubitably, thanks for knowing more than these other guys and being so much cooler ;)
BRandom - 9/1/2012, 9:32 AM
Oh and nice avatar
ComfortablyNumb - 9/1/2012, 9:35 AM
I guess Costner is playing John Clark.
Ceejay - 9/1/2012, 10:04 AM
@ComfortablyNumb - No, actually Costner is playing William Harper in a two picture deal where he reprises his role in "Without Remorse" where Tom Hardy is expected to be playing John Clark.

This movie just being called "Jack Ryan" seems to be their own thing, not one of the stories from the books. This doesn't please me, hope they don't turn this into another dumb action film for simpletons. The books are well written espionage thrillers not action vehicles!

They say this is basically Jack Ryan´s origin movie. I just wish they would have named it something else.

Im probably gonna check it out just for fun. But im pretty sure its not gonna top The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games and Clear & Present Danger. Maybe that Affleck flick but not those first three.

My opinion they should have left Ryan alone and bring Jack Higgins Sean Dillon to the big screen. Thats a cool character who doesnt have a decent live-action adaptation yet. They could have based that movie in the same period as the books.
darkness - 9/1/2012, 11:08 AM
clancey wanted costner to play ryan in hunt for red october...if anyone cares?
xXkryptoniteXx - 9/1/2012, 11:10 AM
Lol this article doesn't target any major community in this site, I'm looking forward to it because the original actors for jack Ryan where Harrison Ford(twice), Alec Baldwin, and Ben affleck.
xXkryptoniteXx - 9/1/2012, 11:11 AM
Also I want a rainbow six movie already or a Sam fisher movie
DrainBamage - 9/1/2012, 11:40 AM
Please tell me Costner's playing Admiral Greer and not John Clark.
Blanka1212 - 9/1/2012, 12:04 PM
So, you can purposely make a mistake?

Accident...mistake. The same thing. Try justifying it anyway you want.
Killuminatic - 9/1/2012, 12:53 PM
If this turns out good... Hopefully we could see a Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell movie - (If they ever get made, which is very likely cause everything nowadays is based upon games/comics/books)- set in the same universe just like the games and books, reminiscent of the MCU.
EarOne - 9/1/2012, 4:18 PM
is Costner playing the same character played before by Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber..??
samster10001 - 9/1/2012, 7:39 PM
@earone

No he's not. Costners playing some sort of mentor type part. That character that scheriber and dafoe played is getting his own spinoff film that will star tom ahrdy and be set in the same universe as this jack ryan movie. In fact costner will be playing the same character in both films.
