Sean Connery May Be in Indiana Jones 5

Indiana Jones may get his dad back in the next movie...
According to Worstpreviews.com back when "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was being written, George Lucas revealed that the script had Indy's father in it, which meant that Sean Connery would need to reprise his role. Unfortunately, Connery refused and the script was quickly re-written.

Now that Lucas and Steven Spielberg have cracked the story for the fifth installment, we are starting to hear rumors that the filmmakers will once again try to get Connery to join the cast.Sounds good to me!

Worstpreviews.com also said that their scource said that "Steven Spielberg has been working on a script with George Lucas and there is an element of the story that could see Sean returning. Anything is possible in these movies and if Sean wants to return he will become central to the new story."

No word on whether Connery would come out of retirement for "Indiana Jones 5."

This might make the film better...maybe!

So lets hope this is true!

bullshit. unless they have a flashback. he was dead in 4.
grif - 9/18/2009, 7:12 PM
I doubt he would even come back for it.
ClintEastwood - 9/18/2009, 7:51 PM
yeah he's pretty set in retirement. And besides like grif said...indy's dad is dead.
On a side note did anyone else rush home and check to see if sean connery was still alive after seeing the movie or waas that just my reaction?
thwhtGuardian - 9/18/2009, 8:13 PM
I agree with @grif, it seems like its implied that he died before the events in 4. [?]

access - 9/18/2009, 8:20 PM
i don't like it when they do this in sequels...
redskullrevenge - 9/18/2009, 9:36 PM
I hope he doesn't come back. I'm not too big of a fan of Sean Connery. He always seems to play the same role of the chauvinistic asshole in each of his movies
supermarioworldE - 9/18/2009, 10:03 PM
Well, if they had aliens, they can have some sort of bring-back-the-dead story.
TheUnknown - 9/18/2009, 10:30 PM
I think they will fix the franchise with the next one. They were probably just attempting to modernize it and screwed up...there's always hope!
Bamf7 - 9/18/2009, 10:32 PM
Yeah, Indy 4 kind of hinted at him being deceased.

Besides, Sean Connery can't save this movie. They need to go old school and film this movie ON LOCATION, and not use so much crappy CGI.

Macksimus - 9/19/2009, 12:21 AM
I like Sean Connery, and I liked the stalwart, uncompromising father he played. But they killed him off. Plus, Indy is the age of the actor portraying him. Sean Connery is younger than the man he would be playing. Meaning, as an 80-something year old, he would only fill the role as an advisor to his already twilight aged son. He wouldn't be very useful to the film.
Phinehas - 9/19/2009, 12:37 AM
@Phinehas- Very nicely put
invalensname - 9/19/2009, 3:03 AM
didnt indy dad die?
flames809 - 9/19/2009, 7:54 AM
man, i just realised that i still havent got round to watching the latest film - is it worth buying on blu-ray!?
joshw24 - 9/19/2009, 7:58 AM
That would mean a prequel. And I never liked Connery anyway. Hope he turns it down again...
Inohaku - 9/19/2009, 8:04 AM
He was locked in that basement where they were keeping Colossus.
Betty - 9/19/2009, 8:07 AM
they didn't imply that he was death they flat out said he was dead. I love Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade was probably my favorite because of Sean Connery being his dad. (I mean honestly how kick ass is it to have James Bond be Indy's father?) However I don't think they should bring him back for the 5th one if they clearly stated he was dead in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. If they really wanted to bring him back in the 5th one they should have come up with some other explanation to why he wasn't there, but they [frick]ed up and now unless they can come up with some logical explanation (logical meaning something that's not so far out and stupid that you can obviously tell they were just pulling it out of their asses to bring him back) to how he's alive then fans are going to be pissed...especially this fan. Oh and logical meaning something that's not so far out and stupid that you can obviously tell they were just pulling it out of their asses to bring him back. (ie the aliens did it)

@Macksimus- totally agree with that! They need to go back to what made the old films great. CG is a great tool and can bring things that can't be filmed to life, but so many people abuse it nowadays. There is a MAJOR difference when there's something real in front of the camera than when you look at something and can clearly tell it was done on a computer. So in simpler terms STAY THE [frick] OUT OF IT GEORGE LUCAS!!! Write the script help out but leave your [frick]ing CGI orgies out of it!
Crazyhorrormovienerd - 9/19/2009, 8:11 AM
@josh its ok if u ignore the ending infact other than the ending its a gud indie film if u can see past the crapness of it its not 2 bad
Roscoe182 - 9/19/2009, 8:15 AM
@Roscoe- oh yeah if you cut out the ending and the tarzan scene it would've been 10x better! If they had simply placed the skull back where it was and have the temple begin to collapse good old Indy style then we would've had a completely different movie.
Crazyhorrormovienerd - 9/19/2009, 8:19 AM
Roscoe182: Thanks, ill see if i can pcik it up sometime! :)
joshw24 - 9/19/2009, 8:21 AM
There were some parts of Kingdom i enjoyed, but over all it was a disaster. Take out the gopher, nuking of the fridge, Tarzan Shia, mistaking a snake for a rope and some other silly shit and it could have been good.

I didn't even really mind the Aliens that much. Yeah it was out there, but people seem to forget that the other movies has demonic Arks, Kali worshiping monks that could rip your heart out without killing you and Immortal Knights with the secret to everlasting life.
Rorschach01 - 9/19/2009, 8:33 AM
I like Indy movies so i am down for whatever... cuz for me they only exist on film anyways... so i am like whatever... and they are like well, whatever! and then i am like ..yeah well, whatever, sounds like fun anyways.
shibazz - 9/19/2009, 8:34 AM
Bring him back now!!!!!
ASSASSIN666 - 9/19/2009, 8:44 AM
Oh Jesus Christ! You already raped indy in that Kingdom of the Crystal Crap! Now they are gonna turn his dad into a freaking zombie! ITS OVER LUCAS, LET IT DIE SPIELBERG!! You couldn't let the series die gracefully, you had to kill it! Don't continue the torture!
Jimdlux - 9/19/2009, 8:52 AM
I'd like that... he was a good character
Evil1991 - 9/19/2009, 8:53 AM
They should've done more INDY movies in the 90's, cool news though!!!

Get rid of SHIA indy friggin' junior an we've got a INDY film!!!
LEEE777 - 9/19/2009, 9:00 AM
SHIA IS NOT INDIANA WORTHY, HE DOESNT HAVE THAT INDY ADVENTURE THING THAT RIVER PHEONIX HAD..THEY SAID INDY'S DAD DIED...HOW THE F DID HE DIE WHEN HE DRANK THE ETERNAL LIFE THINGY WATER FROM THE HOLY GRAIL?
GUNSMITH - 9/19/2009, 9:09 AM
I fell that the first and third movies were the only good ones. I hated the temple of doom and the last one I hated also. I mean come on! Tarzan Shia? Married? Son? Indy is not supposed to be married,so they just [frick]ed it up! Well hopefully this one will be better! AND KILL SHIA OFF PLEASE!!!!!!
Ozymandias - 9/19/2009, 9:09 AM
@GUNSMITH:Your absolutely right!
Ozymandias - 9/19/2009, 9:11 AM
OZY, IT WAS THE ALIEN SHET THAT KILLED IT FOR ME..THE GRAIL, THE ARK, GOLDEN CITIES OR THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH.........ALIENS.......LOL WTF MAN....(WISPERING SADLY)......WTF.
GUNSMITH - 9/19/2009, 9:12 AM
Just leave Indy alone Lucas. You've hurt him enough.

And yeah, Henry Snr was dead in the last movie.

'Indiana Jones and the reincarnation of his dead Dad to make money'

Good working title
hush - 9/19/2009, 9:25 AM
@ betty

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats too funny my friend
CorndogBurglar - 9/19/2009, 9:29 AM
i didn't understand how connery could have died if he drank from the holy grail in last crusade. wasn't that supposed to give him everlasting life?
CorndogBurglar - 9/19/2009, 9:32 AM
@Corndog: Not just one drink, you have to return and continue to use the grail, not just once and live forever

Have any of you read a script? Does it ever say the next is a sequel? Because even back in the day chronologically the movies go like this: Temple of Doom, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Last Crusade. Yet they were released as we all know Raiders, Temple, then Crusade. So they can make this one happen before the rape fest that Crystal Skull was.

I still don't think it'll happen though, Connery is to set on retirement.
RedHeadBruno - 9/19/2009, 9:50 AM
He's transcended time and space and now hangs out with Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda on Dagobah, so theoretically he could pop in at any moment.
wdbeckiv - 9/19/2009, 9:59 AM
So we're going to be raping two classic film series at once now? Sweet...
RedHeadBruno - 9/19/2009, 10:08 AM
Indiana Jones and The Lost World: Jurassic Park? At some point someones gotta find those capsules that Dennis Nedry lost.
wdbeckiv - 9/19/2009, 10:15 AM
Dont forget that the films dont run chronologically, temple of doom is set before raiders!

wards - 9/19/2009, 10:17 AM
Thank you wards. Once again the movies go Temple, Raiders, Crusade, Crystal Skull... They can put the next one wherever the hell they want. So Indy may not be married, would not know his son and him and James Bond can just go around whipping things and sexing up the ladies...
RedHeadBruno - 9/19/2009, 10:19 AM
Yes! Another Indiana Jones! Cool! Can't Wait. I Love Indiana Jones!
LuV1138 - 9/19/2009, 10:24 AM
Hell Yes.
LexLuthor - 9/19/2009, 10:40 AM
In The Last Crusade the Knight said that once you pass the seal the power is lost. Right? That is how Indy and his Dad could die. They do not live in the Temple.
mapex26 - 9/19/2009, 10:53 AM
Correct, that's why he stayed there, and to protect the grail of course

RedHeadBruno - 9/19/2009, 10:57 AM
The Holy Grail isnt a cup.
Ozymandias - 9/19/2009, 11:03 AM
Ya I was about to post that you have to live in the temple to have everlasting life. You guys react so quickly that you forget the facts in other movies, I have seen many corrections throughout these comments so all I have to say is "think before you comment". Get you facts straight.
Rokrad - 9/19/2009, 11:05 AM
No. He already said he doesn't care what role is offered, he said he was done with movies. So not going to happen, ever. Would be dumb, even though Sean Connery is great. Indy 5 will suck huge testies, but proves Speilberg and Lucas are money hungry fools now. What happened to the greats of old, while everyone is turning greedy?
IronManisGOAT - 9/19/2009, 11:21 AM
@ grif: My thoughts exactly.
BmanHall - 9/19/2009, 12:06 PM
Ok well that makes no sense but screw it, it will either be a prequel (no Shia LeBoeuf, yeaahh) or time travel or some shit will be involved and dont say thats stupid after there bloody aliens in the last one. But anyway, it would be nice to see Sean Connery take a few months break from retirement for a return to the film business! JUNIOR!

My favourite Sean Connery quote is from The Rock:

Your best? Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and [frick] the prom queen!
dancingmonkey08 - 9/19/2009, 12:22 PM
i liked kingdom
AvengingAngel1022 - 9/19/2009, 12:26 PM
"Carla was the prom queen"
RedHeadBruno - 9/19/2009, 12:45 PM
he died according to the last movie, but what if the holy grail gave him eternal life??
theartofoneness - 9/19/2009, 12:55 PM
not to be a jerk but this has been covered artofone. You had to stay in the temple to keep eternal life. Once he and Junior left they were up to die again...
RedHeadBruno - 9/19/2009, 12:57 PM
Well since they did introduce a sci-fi element in the last instalment, plus they already have fantasy and mythical elements in there who's to say some sort of time travel couldn't be involved.

Though persoanly i think it's time for Mutt Jones to take over as the main lead and for Indy to be more of a mentor.
kaos - 9/19/2009, 1:46 PM
Oh my God... you take that back kaos
RedHeadBruno - 9/19/2009, 2:00 PM
Why would Lucas do that to us. He already f*d up Star Wars and Indy 4. Why can't he just write a good Indy flic and pretend #4 did not happen.
Number21 - 9/19/2009, 2:39 PM
@kaos

wow.. mutt take over? you have no clue what indiana jones is. do yah. time travel? wtf?
grif - 9/19/2009, 5:35 PM
Hahaha! Thanks Grif. Kaos... you crazy son, crazy! If Mutt takes over will every movie have to be in a jungle so he can swing from vines?
RedHeadBruno - 9/19/2009, 5:44 PM
yea well you know how Steven Spielberg, and especially George Lucas have "great" ideas
BOOK552 - 9/19/2009, 6:12 PM
You guys know Connery got offered The Matrix, and he felt stupid that he passed it up so then he did the disastrous LOEG... wasn't that his last role? too lazy to check.

Rorshach, I thought all that stuff you mentioned was pretty lame, EXCEPT I liked the fridge part - people used to get stuck in those old style fridges and die all the time. I took it as them poking fun at that and found it pretty funny. For me it was probly the funniest part of the movie, not that they're supposed to be comedies.

Yeah Indy's dad is dead, so it'd have to be flashbacks or something. Could turn out pretty cheesy.

48and2 - 9/19/2009, 8:14 PM
Did the last movie ever showed how he died? Its a Flashback. Either that or everyone thought he was dead but actually just got lost and presumed dead. Indy would finally find him after being lost for 20 years in the Smithsonian Museum.

Seriously I personally wish to see Connery back in his role for one last time as curtain call as well as to fix that bad after taste left by the last sequel. But I'm sure Connery is too content to leave his retirement.

If they can't got Sean Connery I believe they'll get Leslie Nielsen instead.

Finally I like the the League of Extra Ordinary Gentlemen. It had a lot of potentials, great characters and story. Its somewhat gave us an idea for the upcoming "The Avengers" and "Justice League" movies. It just drag somewhere at the middle.
Kalabog - 9/20/2009, 1:07 AM
@ rokrad

[frick] off man. its been like 10 years since i've watched last crusade, and i don't remember there being a stipulation about needing to live in the temple. thats why i ASKED how he could have died.

but way to be an asshole for no reason...
CorndogBurglar - 9/20/2009, 7:16 AM
Ha ha, you tell um Corndog.

For the final time PLEASE, it could be:
1)Flashbacks
2)They find him alive though presumed dead
3)This movie comes BEFORE Crystal Skull and BEFORE he
is dead

BUT NONE OF THEM MATTER! Sean is not coming back, I would love him to but he won't. Especially after the tarnish now on Indy
RedHeadBruno - 9/20/2009, 7:41 AM
@ redhead

lol

and i just can't believe their even making a 5th. the general concensus says the 4th was trash.
CorndogBurglar - 9/20/2009, 7:54 AM
Maybe this film will take place before Crystal Skull when Henry Sr. is still alive.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is set after Temple of Doom even though Raiders was filmed first.
JYCowboy - 9/20/2009, 8:41 AM
Holy crap... no comment.

RedHeadBruno - 9/20/2009, 8:56 AM
READ THE STUFF THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PUT UP ON THE POST! BALLS IN AND AROUND YOUR MOUTH
RedHeadBruno - 9/20/2009, 8:58 AM
sorry lost control for a moment
RedHeadBruno - 9/20/2009, 8:58 AM
ugh why does everybody always say "Well how can Indy and his dad die if they drank from the grail?" Because if you payed attention to the movie you'll know that it only stays in effect when you are within the seal!

Sorry I know that's already been addressed but i've heard that so many times it just pisses me off
Crazyhorrormovienerd - 9/20/2009, 10:55 AM
lol, awesome

RedHeadBruno - 9/20/2009, 11:13 AM
Maybe they can make the movie about when Indy was a spy for the U.S. They briefly touched on that in Crystal Skull, but they didn't get too specific.

@crazyhorrormovienerd, good call man.
HouserepresentativeZod - 9/20/2009, 12:50 PM
Well Lucas was young and bright and had ideas that change the movie industry but know he has lost his touch and garbage is all he knows. i was heart broken by the last Indiana film visually nice, but nerdy son who looks like a greaser does not work and worst yet the story suck. be nice to see this classic cinema left alone. and leave bond alone man is a classic pimp.
gomez - 9/20/2009, 1:31 PM
STOP MAKING INDY MOVIES. Stupid flipping George Lucas...
Jib7z - 9/20/2009, 2:59 PM
AWESOME. I'm and indy fan and any true indy fan would like to see a new film to keep Indy going. The way I see it I'm a Yankees fan just because they don't win the World Series every year doesn't mean, I'm going to piss and moan and say they should just stop playing baseball if they don't win all the time. Any film will be appreciated can't strike gold every time. I believe that film will rake in all sorts of dough. And you know all those babies saying stop making Indy movies, will be first in line to buy a ticket. Long live Indy.
SuperPoweredMikeL - 9/20/2009, 8:23 PM
PLEASE - call it Indiana bones and the creaking doom! How are these two going to play in the same movie? There won't be enough room for Sean's walker and Harrison's toupe!
WEAPON911 - 9/20/2009, 9:35 PM
@ OZZY. Thanks for the article. It could be a prequel to Part 4. Bridging the gap betwen 3 and 4 actually. He dies in this one though. I liked that he had already passed on when I saw part 4. Who knows. But let me ask you this comic book reader/movie watchers. Anyone see that statue on that college campus up close in T2 ROTF? I think that was the same statue from IJ4 KOCS. The statue of Brodie. Can someone let me know if that is true or not please?

Scorpioxfactor - 9/21/2009, 3:47 AM
whats with all the assholery going on?? "if you would have payed attention to the movie" or "get your facts straight". i guess you guys just remember EVERY detail of EVERY movie that you've ever seen in your life, right? even movies that you haven't seen in years. i'm sure.
CorndogBurglar - 9/21/2009, 11:19 AM
how come no one thinks he could have faked his death in the movie
