Jon Favreau revealed, via Twitter, that an Iron Man 2 poster featuring the movie's antagonist Whiplash would be released to the web this morning. As promised, it was just release 2 minutes ago. Here it is for your viewing pleasure:



Iron Man 2 is set to be released on May 7th, 2010.

@Spidersweb is it because of his suit? Seriously? I dont get ppls gripe with the suit. Iron man is set in a realistic setting so was incredible hulk they have to take some liberties. And if someone made a suite in their garage it'd look like that. hahaha deal. It looks good if you put it inthat frame of mind if they wanted it to look like a million dollars they would have.

I'm loving it!!! I still don't see how he's gonna stand up to Iron-man with the lack of armor, but I guess I'll find out this summer! :)

Mickey Rourke rocks! Can't wait to see him in action.

yeh nice poster, still not convinced he could put up a decent fight without more armour, iron man would destroy him. im sure he wil get an upgrade though. yeh @ theanswer - i know what you mean about the dark knight advertising...quality.

As much as I like the poster, it does beg the question where the f**k is the armor? Hopefully that will be something just for the movie, hopefully.

@multi You're with me. Jon Farveau isn't an idiot obvioulsy if whiplash doesnt have the armor were use to. He is either gonna get it later in the movie OR he has awesome tricks to keep him safe from getting his ass kicked aka Throwing down some Awesome attacks. He probably has a better offense that defense

@set it is a number of things. Mostly yes it is the suit. You make a good point but it just doesn't look like he could even give IM a sweat.

@spideysweb Yea i get everyones concern about the armor i got that and i love the original armor that he has carried BUT. This is a movie you gotta remember we havent seen it yet...at all. for all we know he takes tony down when he is just starting in his alcoholisim which would make anyone weak and out in the open. Or he really does has some awesome movies that will kick ass or hes working with justin hammer on the side who has tricks to tonys armor we dont know yet.

@multi EXACTLY tony is just a genius in a awesome suit that can give him strength and cool powers. In the first one he wasnt really fighting he was preventing and fighting another rich guy that he almost lost too. So against a guy who is trained in fighting with a no mercy Russian attitude.

anyone with a pair of wire cutters could take him down in that form lol. He needs the help of a rich weapons manufacturer with access to some stark tech to trick that pony out.

@set for sure...We'll all just have to wait and see. Really hope the trailer is in front of Avatar like it is rumoured to be. That would be wicked.

Maybe he's not even the main baddie? Maybe he serves as the villian for the first part of the movie. Attacks Tony while he's not suited up. Then Tony gets on the IM armor & whips-the-lash.

Then maybe a show down with Warmachine?

Who's to say. I'm sure it'll be great either way! :)

If there is any sort of CG heavy fight between him and Ironman it would be better handled if he had a suit of his own (cg people still look terrible). So, i'm hopin for a suit to be revealed.

SOOOOOOOOO badass... this is so much cooler than the Norway Spiral. lol As long as they hold off the Rapture until AFTER May 7th, Ill die a happy camper.

I have to say i think they are going for the 'shadow' version of Iron Man, on the origin part, as a major plot point. If you listen to the voiceover on the ComiCon footage from Whiplash he's talking about Tony coming from a "family of robbers and thieves..." etc. Couple that with the words from the Tool song playing over (ANYONE KNOW THE NAME??) and i think its a fair idea.

Tie in some stuff about the arc reactor in his chest is making him sick. Some industrial espionage. Bro-mance gone bad. THE HIT OF 2010.

there...ill step down from my soapbox now, dont flame me too bad. ;)

Im not talking about anyone here. But dont you hate talking to people who "love comics" and in reality know nothing more than the cartoons that use to come on, or the movies that they've seen. I talked to this one guy who was so full of it it made me so angry. but i just laughed and said uh huh ok ok. He was talking about how Iron Man is great but Batman and Batman returned sucked because it wasnt part of any source material and I got so mad becuase Batman and Batman returns were great. I was pissed I was like have you ever read a comic TDK wasnt part of ANY source material it was bits and pieces taken from the killing joke and others. but he was one of those ppl who just keep annoying with the i have a better answer than you thing.

It looks great but its ridiculous that he's so exposed! Even if Iron Man couldnt get close enough to take him out with a punch, he could just shoot him in the bloody face from a distance, lol! :P

I want a suit too, but I'll deal if there's not one. I don't care if he looks all grimy and like he made his machine out of recycled parts from the dumpster. The movie's gonna be great.

to answer your question Sirprize - if he's not energy star compliant, at least he's made out of recycled stuff. =)

I always thought Rourke would play a combination of Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo.

I think we'll see Whip early in the movie, and he'll probably get his ass kicked/embarassed by IM.

Then, IM and WM get into it, and finally, Mickey comes back as Crimson, and IM and WM are forced to combine forces in order to beat him.
