Erica Cerra is no stranger to a combination of action and fantasy roles. She currently stars in the ScyFy original series Eureka, and can be seen in theaters portraying the goddess Hela in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Some of her previous roles include episodes of Battlestar Galactica, Reaper, Smallville and The L Word.

Newsarama got the chance to speak with Ms. Cerra about her role of Deputy Jo Lupo in Eureka; which has just been renewed for a fourth season. During the discussion, the topic shifted to the possibility of Cerra playing Wonder Woman in a (long overdue) live action adaptation. Would she welcome the chance to play the iconic character, since there are many fans that wish it so?

Newsarama: I know you must have heard this before, but there are tons of fans out there who would love to see you play Wonder Woman. I heard it brought up at Comic Con at the round table interviews we did with you.

"That's awesome! [laughs] I would love to play Wonder Woman! I think that would be wicked...that was actually brought to my attention by someone. 'That would be really cool. You should see if you can play Wonder Woman.' I said, 'If I had that kind of power, that would be wonderful. Call someone up and say OK, I'm ready to be Wonder Woman. Make it happen.' [laughs] But we can throw that out there in as many news articles as we possibly can, that Erica would love the opportunity to play Wonder Woman! I'd have to work out a lot just to fit in that tiny little outfit. But I'd do it! I have the right hair, and doesn't she have green eyes? I have green eyes. Green eyes, dark hair...done! The big breasts I may be lacking. [laughs] We can make those happen! It's fine."

Newsarama: Hey, Angelina did it in Tomb Raider!

"She did. You're right! Done. I'm going to play Wonder Woman." [laughs]

Newsarama: You're on SyFy, you're in a sci-fi movie...I have to ask, are you a geek?

"You know what, I am! I have to admit it. And I don't say that in a sad way! As you're growing up, everyone has this misconception of a geek. When I grew up, my dad always used to watch Star Trek and any and every sci-fi show you could imagine. I used to watch it with him and I loved it. I loved all fantasy and I always thought that the ideal job as a performer and an entertainer would be to take on a mythical character, you know? Make someone up. Give them a voice, a mannerism, whatever. I always thought that that was the coolest way to do. And then you get older and everyone wants to be the cool kid. And you get a little older and you start realizing how stupid that is, and you just get to be who you are. And I am a geek. I love my sci-fi. I love my fantasy. Yeah! I can say it. I'm a geek. I'm a geek and I'm a proud geek!"

What do you think? Would the self-proclaimed geek beauty be a perfect fit for Wonder Woman?

As far as looks go, she's great! Needs to slightly tone and bulk up, though. I haven't seen her act so I don't know about that.

She would need a boob job and a little more bulk on her frame. Just a little more.

I'd take it to the hole, drive the lane, and prematurely cum in my pants.

She'll do.

If I were her, I woudn't be bragging about being a 'SyFy' chick (even 'Eureka' IS on its fourth season) - that's no big accomplishment. Eureka is D-list (at best), and aside from 'Galactia', 'Caprica' and 'SG-1', the network isn't known for it's 'quality' programming! She IS fun to look at, I'll give her that...

Pass

Not a very good actress
Waay to flat chested to play this role. Most women supes are obviously overdrawn but in the case of WW, you have to have a...full bodied actress play the role, imo.
That's not something you can fix with a stuffed bra.

a ww movie will never happen. and if, just if it does.. it wont happen for yearsssssssssss, years. she's be way to old for the role by that time.

@Multi-If she is willing to go the distance and get a boob job, I am in, motorboat and everything.

Still doesn't help her be a better actress though.

I'd also like to see Alexander get the role. Maybe after Thor hits she'll get a boost in popularity.

But seriously, I think a WW film could be great. An epic adventure with an Ancient Greek backdrop and a mythological theme. That sounds awesome to me.

"wonder women should be about 5'8-5'10"

She's an Amazon. Probably closer to 6'. But height doesn't bother me so much as the need to look, act, and throw a credible punch/kick. Special FX can adjust heights. I was going to say something about her tits, but figured a push-up would have sufficed. In my vision of the film, I would have introduced her like Andromeda on the original Clash of the Titans coming out of the bath and catching some side boobage like Emily Blunt in Wolfman. They may not follow MY plans now. At least not with her.

i don't see erica playing this role at all. she doesnt have the eyes... the eyes need to pull you right in... she just doesnt have the magnetism that, say, sarah palin has...

that would be the ONLY way sarah would get my vote...

Your tirades are like that of a feral woman.

I can't comment on her acting, though I agree with the consensus that coming from ScyFy is enough to make one nervous. But, to say that she doesn't look the part is foolhardy.

PHINES @ WTF you on about, she don't look nothing like WW????

Plus, she ain't got no BOOBS either LOL!!

She's not a crappy address. Don't be so dramatic, Lee. ;-) I find it funny when people say that someone can't act, but then they want an unknown...which means we don't know if they can act or not.

Bottom line... She is too short. 5'4", though her bio claims her to be 5'6". A photograph next to a 5'8" guy confirms she isn't that tall.

Griffiths and O'Keefe would need the boob job and Griffiths is 5'6", which is still too short for my taste. To portray an Amazon woman you want a woman who is at least 5'9" or 5'10". It's the tall body frame that we associate with an Amazon and throwing them in tall shoes or special effecting the height doesn't make up for the lack of body frame height. O'Keefe is 5'9" so that is doable, but I don't care for her look as Wonder Woman.

Joey Misfit @ How about .... NO! : P

Shes [frick]ing LOIS LANE, she can't play the other most famous DC heroine!!!

MULTI @ She was in NASH BRIDGES lol? Cool lol! ; D

PRISON BREAK season 3 says it all!!!

Ranger @ Lol, them actresses have more boobage than that bird up top lol! 5'4""? A midget then! : P
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 2/23/2010, 4:14 PM
O'Keefe or Griffiths don't have the boobs. I'm pretty sure acting is more important than how busty a chick is.

But seriously, how does she not look like WW?

Ranger: 5'4"? Damn, that's shorter than Evangeline Lilly. I too prefer an actress around the 5'8" to 6' range (6' would be ideal obviously, but there aren't many actresses who can act and are that height, at least not many that I can think of).
Phinehas
Phinehas - 2/23/2010, 4:15 PM
I conceded to the boob issue, LEEE. But her face is fine! Pop in a couple of icy-blue contacts and were ready to go! I just don't know about her acting and her a-cups (which can be fixed with pads and pushups).

Joey Misfit
Another excellent point! Cost is everything. They need money on FX, writing, and direction.
A virtual inexpensive unknown that can act is the way to go.

Coming from a guy that wants THE PACIFIER as NAMOR! Boom, end of argument right there.

Multi: Exactly. It makes me facepalm when people say a chick needs to have super 36DD tits to be Wonder Woman.
