EXCLUSIVE: New Green Lantern Set Photo

The Green Lantern cast and crew are apparently working day and night in Madisonville, LA filming a scene that has yet to be disclosed. You can check out a video of the location by clicking HERE.

This morning, I received an email from a Madisonville resident who had stopped by the movie set and managed to snap this quick photo at the Mandeville Lakefront:





What is that being lowered into the water, you ask? Taking the film's context into consideration, it definitely looks like an otherworldly space craft. Anyone familiar with Green Lantern mythology should know that there is one space ship that is crucial to Hal Jordan's origin story. That ship belonged to his predecessor Abin Sur; who crash landed on Earth before passing his duties onto the former test pilot. The intricate design of Abin's ship has varied throughout the years, but it's sleek, silver look has remained consistent.

definately abin sur crash. dont remember it being in the water though. thought it was in the desert.

the reason Abin Sur needed a space ship is that the ring is onyl charged for 24 standard earth hours. Abin used it for patroling the sector and kept his battery there. Along with food shower sleeping area and other items

This is undoubtedly Abin Sur's spaceship. Given the way Martin Campbell likes his films, he's most likely trying to film as much of this using real items as possible. For example, the Aston Martin crash in Casino Royale was REAL because he didn't want to use CG for something he could replicate in real life. He's probably attempting to create a scene involving it flying over the water or something. I REALLY hope it lands in the desert though. DO NOT change that. . . it's ALWAYS been that way for a reason.

That's why I'm not sure it's abins. Cause it's never crashed in the water. But maybe it is just a fly over scene.

One thing i never understoodwas. Every green lantern has the ability to fly so why does Abin Sur have a spaceship?

@interestingJohn - i actually do read comments but it does get to a certain point where i just cba reading every single one so i just drift over them. But if his ring is failing him cant he just contact other lanterns. It always seems when john, hal, kyle or guy are in trouble theres always someone there able to help so yoou'd think someone as important as Abin Sur would have some sort of escort or would have Sinestro with his seeing as he was his mentor and all.

I've read the first draft of the script, and it is explained why Abin is traveling by ship rather than ring. No spoilers here though :)

DONT REALLY READ GREEN LANTERN OR ANYOTHER COMICBOOKS BUT IF I RECALL FRM GREEN LANTERN: FIRST FLIGHT HAL WAS IN A TEST SHIP BEFORE HE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE CRASH SITE..AM I RIGHT OR WRONG? COULD BE A POSSIBLE THEORY?

Actually the reason Abin Sur left his ring at home is because of Earth's Yellow Sunbeams. When he died, the ring came to life and left his house on Oa(where they have Blue Sunbeams) and flew to Earth in search Hal.
