HYDRA Logo Revealed for Captain America Movie

The film's director, Joe Johnston, unveils the official movie logo for the villainous HYDRA during a recent Comic Con interview

One of the biggest surprises to come out of the Captain America movie coverage this past week was the revelation that the film's antagonist, Red Skull (played by Hugo Weaving), works not just for the Nazi Party but also the clandestine organization HYDRA.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Joe Johnston held up the his phone which has the first official logo of HYDRA. For those who are unaware, HYDRA is a world-wide subversive organization dedicated to global domination. At its height, Hydra was the most extensive, powerful, and dangerous such organization in history. The man responsible for the creation of HYDRA is Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker.

It's a safe bet to assume that HYDRA will have a major influence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; and more than likely will be featured in The Avengers movie.

Pietro Filipponi - 7/30/2010, 7:23 AM
Great Find Poni! You've been on quite the roll these last two weeks, keep it up, boss.
SalC - 7/30/2010, 7:23 AM
That makes two of us, I wonder if it comes in the iPhone 4 version?
SalC - 7/30/2010, 7:24 AM
That's a pretty cool logo.
Destroyer14 - 7/30/2010, 7:26 AM
I wonder if we will see A.I.M. as well.
nld3 - 7/30/2010, 7:26 AM
Coooool....i want to answer.."Hail Hydra" on it :D
teabag - 7/30/2010, 7:28 AM
hail hydra!
sagekilz - 7/30/2010, 7:30 AM
@nld3
if you bring in A.I.M., then that SHOULD inckude MODOK, optimistically thinking of course.
sagekilz - 7/30/2010, 7:31 AM
I think this is an acceptable deviation from source material. It's not like Red Skull hasn't been involved in Hydra. Wasn't Hydra the group that awakened Red Skull in modern times? I wonder if Strucker will be in the film at all? Somebody has to keep it going after the Skull is taken out. I assume they will be used in other films.
MassExecutions - 7/30/2010, 7:32 AM
Mass@ Agreed...Hydra have such an important role in the Marvel universe and they have played a part in nearly every characters life...soooooo it makes perfect sense to have them involved right from the start of the Movie-verse :)
teabag - 7/30/2010, 7:35 AM
THEY EVEN MAKE THEIR OWN WATER "HYDRA-ATE YOURSELF"...
GUNSMITH - 7/30/2010, 7:35 AM
@sage

MODOK would be awesomely interesting...
ElBicho - 7/30/2010, 7:35 AM
Awesome I saw the interview they looked like they were family sitting together. Can't wait to see Hydra agents get there asses taken to them buy the Cap!
ThaMessenger07 - 7/30/2010, 7:36 AM
You know I don't really care what the Hydra agents look like, so long as they say "Hail Hydra!" but if they introduce AIM I demand yellow bucket heads. THIS IS AS IMPORTANT AS HELMETS, PEOPLE.
MassExecutions - 7/30/2010, 7:40 AM
Hail Bob!
Jones52j - 7/30/2010, 7:42 AM
not gonna lie...that is pretty cool.
Nice find Poni.
Phfylburt - 7/30/2010, 7:42 AM
Kwl find, haha you'd think he'd try hide it. gd that ther incoporating this in some way
Shocker - 7/30/2010, 7:42 AM
awesome, straight out of the comics.

"HAIL HYDRA! KILL ONE AND ANOTHER TAKES THEIR PLACE!"
CorndogBurglar - 7/30/2010, 7:45 AM
I hope this type of crap doesn't happen.

sagekilz - 7/30/2010, 7:45 AM
HYDRA as the main villains in the avengers...it sounds just like cobra and gi joe....-.-' xP
Joker13 - 7/30/2010, 7:45 AM
Joker13- Only... good.
Shaman - 7/30/2010, 7:52 AM
Looks pretty close to comic version, I approve.
Stumblin - 7/30/2010, 7:56 AM
cool. should be a good way to intertwine everything.
superdog - 7/30/2010, 7:57 AM
@sagekilz the son of a bimbo he damaged my left boot jet lol lets hope it doesn't man the silver age was weird
ghostpudding - 7/30/2010, 7:57 AM
I smell some Nick Fury action.
imnotwearinghockeypants - 7/30/2010, 7:57 AM
the cool part will be when black widow is revealed to be a double agent working for hydra.
superdog - 7/30/2010, 7:57 AM
this could be even further hint that The Skrulls could eventually show up. i know Hydra is completely different. i just think parts the "secret invasion" story work perfectly for a modern avengers movie. i just think it would be cool if the skrulls had a sleeper agent in hydra all the way back to 1940.
OdinsBeard - 7/30/2010, 8:00 AM
@ multipurposeponi well done, great find.we'll we get to see baron von strucker & madame viper as well.
i had an idea for ironman 3,it was to team ironman & captain america together with a handful of shield agents to take on either hydra or a.i.m.
i think now,i would pick a.i.m .
deadpool72 - 7/30/2010, 8:00 AM
LOL! YEAH THOR IS GETTING LOTS OF HYPE RIGHT NOW..VERY WELL DESERVED..BUT THE CAP MOVIE IS GONNA BE HEAVY WITH GREATNESS WATCH!..ITS GONNA BE THE ORGIN OF THE AVENGERS..WHY EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING ON THE EARTH ASPECT @LEAST
ROBBEATZZZ - 7/30/2010, 8:03 AM
Nice product placement. I betcha they'll come out with Marvel iPhone cases. I have a Thor one already.
SirPrize - 7/30/2010, 8:04 AM

otherside - 7/30/2010, 8:05 AM
HAIL MPP!!
HelaGood - 7/30/2010, 8:21 AM
remember, its been revealed that Shield is under HYDRA too... HYDRA got their hands in everything.
telavizion - 7/30/2010, 8:23 AM
The thing about AIM....You don't really see their faces as a rule....Nah,they wouldn't make them Kree, would they?
scurvydog - 7/30/2010, 8:35 AM
nice cant wait to see captain america!
Lucaxmen - 7/30/2010, 8:42 AM
There´s some villain who wouldn´t appear on this movie?
comics56 - 7/30/2010, 8:44 AM
I confirm HelaGood's comment
CaptainAmerica - 7/30/2010, 8:46 AM
@comics56 - I don't think Stiltman is in it.
MassExecutions - 7/30/2010, 8:46 AM
Hail Hydra!
ROMACK - 7/30/2010, 8:46 AM
A red version of the Hydra symbol can be seen on the Red Skull's sleeve in the Captain America video shown a SDCC.
Brent Sprecher - 7/30/2010, 8:58 AM
is it me or does it seem like all the easter eggs and all of the nods to the shared universe is all gonna be explained or unleashed in Captain America???

I think the bookends (which have already been established to be present day) for CA will be a moment when shit hits the fan and Nick is at his wits end trying to get the serum to work on another subject while a remote team trys to find CA's remains.

AT the end of the the movie they find him in better shaoe than they hoped and he is instantly put in charge of the team before he is given a chance to acclimatize himself and thus starts the rivalry with the rest of the team.
biggcess - 7/30/2010, 9:14 AM
@sagekilz
Actually I think some kind of motorcycle chase could be cool, esp. if they make it similar to how Last Crusade did it.
Ironknight - 7/30/2010, 9:19 AM
Them Hydras look like Multiple mens.
Betty - 7/30/2010, 9:25 AM
@ironknight
you really want this??????????????????????????????
Like I said before I have a terrible feeling the movie will look like this.

Photobucket
sagekilz - 7/30/2010, 9:35 AM
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *nerdgasm*!!!
Juggernaut - 7/30/2010, 9:42 AM
simplicity would be the key to a good classic logo. This one doesnt really look that way. Looks like a bikers tattoo. Look at the SS, Nazi Logo, or the american logos and shapes. They are never that complicated. It comes down to the sternness of the shapes and the colors used.
theartofoneness - 7/30/2010, 10:06 AM
@theartofoneness - yes, but this IS basically the Hydra logo from the comics.
MassExecutions - 7/30/2010, 10:08 AM
Please keep the original hydra costumes.
HULK2099 - 7/30/2010, 10:10 AM
@theartofoneness: Ummm... it's exactly the same as the HYDRA logo from the comics.

What's your gripe again?
Pietro Filipponi - 7/30/2010, 10:11 AM
That "X-Factor" issue is a great one. I believe it's issue 17.
JJMeylar - 7/30/2010, 10:21 AM
@ biggcess

i like that idea, but i think it should start with Rogers being woken up from being frozen, then have him flash back to WWII
CorndogBurglar - 7/30/2010, 10:24 AM
@ multi

lol, you know how it goes man. there's no pleasing everyone. if it isn't exactly like the comic...people complain. if it IS exactly like the comic...people complain.
CorndogBurglar - 7/30/2010, 10:25 AM
That Hydra phone is off da chain!! Oo
Intruder . - 7/30/2010, 10:38 AM

wade1210 - 7/30/2010, 11:22 AM
Unless the rumars are true that marvel has the rights to Deadpool now???
Morgatron - 7/30/2010, 11:50 AM
I wonder if the movie version of HYDRA will spell to be an acronym like H.Y.D.R.A.?
wolverinesfury - 7/30/2010, 11:50 AM
What the heck would it stand for? Would it be in English or German?

Hate, Yuckyness, Doom, and Ruthlessness Association?

I got nothing.
MassExecutions - 7/30/2010, 12:44 PM
@ CDB

You got it bud.
ckal - 7/30/2010, 1:02 PM
Hydra stands for the many headed serpent-like
monster who can grow back two heads to any one
that's severed.

It's letters are not an acronym and I'd prefer
it wasn't.
DDD - 7/30/2010, 2:05 PM
I 'AWNT 'UN TOO!!!!
LOL

I want a Cap America shield logo I-phone!
DDD - 7/30/2010, 2:08 PM
Man, Marvel is gonna make money hand over fist with all these
movies & merchandise!
Like they should! That only means more movies of more
characters and more merch! This all is starting to
turn into a massive monster!
lol
DDD - 7/30/2010, 2:14 PM
if anything Hydra reveal could lead to some sort of enemy for Nick Fury if that SHIELD movie actually goes through.
conformist21 - 7/30/2010, 3:07 PM
As you can see here, The Supreme Hydra is unmasked by Cap.
