Thanks to my sources at 20th Century Fox, I've been able to reveal many new casting and story line updates for the Fantastic Four reboot; which the studio is attempting to fit into the 2012 summer movie block. For those of you who have missed the previous news, here's a roundup of the current information:

*No casting notices have been released by the studio; none of the actors mentioned below can or will be officially attached to the project until the studio signs a director.

Fantastic Four Reborn

- Production to begin in May 2011, for a summer 2012 theatrical release.

- The team's origin (and transformation) will take place during the opening credits of the film (similar to the Incredible Hulk).

Possible Directors: David Yates, Joe Carnahan, James McTeigue

Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic: Adrien Brody, Jonathan Rhys Meyers (courtesy of Rob Keyes at ScreenRant)

Sue Storm/Invisible Woman: Alice Eve, Amber Heard

Johnny Storm/Human Torch: Kevin Pennington

Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom: Stephen Moyer

The next tidbit of news truly seems to indicate the studio is taking this franchise relaunch seriously; since the actor they want does not come cheap. Though an offer has yet to be put out, Fox is very interested in pursuing Bruce Willis to provide the voice of their completely CG Thing; as well as stand in for few, brief scenes the character appears in human form during the opening credits.

In the two previous, Fox-produced Fantastic Four movies, The Thing was portrayed by a rubber suit clad Micheal Chiklis. Though the quality of the suit and makeup Chiklis wore increased between of the first and second films, many fans were still disappointed in it's "obviously fake" appearance; as well as the diminutive physical size the character was reduced to.

According to the current Marvel comics continuity, the character Benjamin "Ben" Grimm was born on Yancy Street in New York City's Lower East Side. Ben had an early life of poverty and hardship, shaping young Grimm into a tough, streetwise scrapper. His older brother Daniel, whom Ben idolized, was killed in a street gang fight when Ben was eight years old. Excelling in football as a high school student, Ben received a full scholarship to Empire State University, where he meets his eventual life-long friend in a teenage genius named Reed Richards, as well as future enemy Victor Von Doom. After finishing college, having earned multiple advanced degrees in engineering, Grimm joins the United States Marine Corps, where he is trained as a test pilot. Following this, he crossed over into the United States Air Force and becomes an astronaut for NASA. This was all before the fateful accident in space which caused him to transform into The Thing.

Fox has already decided to integrate a completely computer generated version of The Thing into their next Fantastic Four film, so landing the right voice actor is a crucial aspect. No word yet if Bruce Willis will receive an offer from the studio, or if this is simply as "dream" casting on their end. Either way, it seems this Fantastic Four film is moving ahead rather quickly; whether it is in the right direction is a matter of personal opinion.

skullboy - 8/29/2010, 11:16 AM
They thought a guy in a rubber Thing suit is fake? So what makes a CGI Thing, especially if they're gonna use the same effects they used for the Hulk? I wish they should just kill this project already.
empire638 - 8/29/2010, 11:19 AM
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!

I thought that they were going for a younger FF rather then than 616 version. Now here me out ppl the only thing that I can truly see Bruce Willis doing for marvel is being OLD MAN LOGAN! THAT'S ALL!
GUNSMITH - 8/29/2010, 11:20 AM
HE SHOULD PLAY HIM AS BEN GRIM, THIS IS LIKE WHEN WE WANTED NICHOLSON TO BE THE JOKER...

..HE EVEN LOOKS LIKE HIM...
Hawksblueyes - 8/29/2010, 11:21 AM
I hate Willis. If ever there was a more over rated actor in Hollywood I don't know who it would be. Great find though Poni! ;D
Dynamo - 8/29/2010, 11:23 AM
@Hawksblueyes...

You...hate...The Willis?!
LEEE777 - 8/29/2010, 11:24 AM
Hawksblueyes @ That would be SLJ btw! : p

WILLIS is a perfect NICK FURY, [frick] FOX lol, he's too old for BEN GRIM!
Hawksblueyes - 8/29/2010, 11:28 AM
John Goodman could do a cool Ben Grim voiceover.

Is he still alive? ;P
InTylerWeTrust - 8/29/2010, 11:28 AM
This movie actually is looking quite promising.

But wait, his eyes aren't blue enough! F*ck him! GTFO asshole!

:)
Bandrews1 - 8/29/2010, 11:32 AM
Bruce Willis could do good, but I also would prefer Clancy Brown.
ShadowMan - 8/29/2010, 11:32 AM
Just bring back Michael Chiklis to do the voice.
scurvydog - 8/29/2010, 11:33 AM
Now what I'm about to say will probably cause a firestorm of nerd rage that can be seen in space...I wonder if Clooney could play Nick Fury....OK,time to run from the tsunami about to head my way...LOL
Denn1s - 8/29/2010, 11:45 AM
wow. they seem to be taking it very seriously this time around. why didn't they do it the first time?
Protonite - 8/29/2010, 11:45 AM
@scurvy - That's an interesting proposition. Clooney is a good actor, but I'm not sure if he can pull off a tough character like Nick Fury.
Ryguy88 - 8/29/2010, 11:47 AM
Integ, haven't we been over this? The studio has not nearly as much to do with the quality of the film as the actual people making the film i.e. the director.

Also, whats the big deal with how big the Thing was portrayed in the first two movies, isn't he only supposed to be 6' tall, he's not Hulk or Juggernaut.
SHAZAM171 - 8/29/2010, 11:48 AM
MrSuperheromoviefan - 8/29/2010, 11:55 AM
[frick] NO!!
BIGBMH - 8/29/2010, 11:55 AM
Bruce might be decent, but his voice isn't gruff enough to be Ben.
SoulAllFlush - 8/29/2010, 11:57 AM
BALLS is this an "EXCLUSIVE"

Bruce Willis would cost Fox an arm and a leg, and for what? An unenthusiastic performance where they don't even get their money's worth in the 'star appeal' by having Willis on screen.

Nonsense.
marvel72 - 8/29/2010, 12:01 PM
the movie does sound like it could be pretty decent.

i'm not sure if bruce willis is the right choice,he sounds half a sleep in most of his films.

when i try to picture what ben grimm sounds like its not bruce willis.

i go for clancy brown.
Hawksblueyes - 8/29/2010, 12:06 PM
John Goodman!
AshleyWilliams - 8/29/2010, 12:12 PM
Hell yes to Willis.

This movie actually might surprise us.
rook187 - 8/29/2010, 12:12 PM
They actually are thinking of a blond actress for Sue Storm? what the hell are they trying to do? make a good movie?
captcrais101 - 8/29/2010, 12:16 PM
Bad idea to make a CGI thing. We don't want the Thing to be like the Bana Hulk. We need to keep a full body suit for the thing like they had it in the first series of F4 movies
SHAZAM171 - 8/29/2010, 12:17 PM
Teab@g - Good show chap, very good show... LOL
Hawksblueyes - 8/29/2010, 12:28 PM
Great call tea, Keith would have made a great Thing when he was younger. The last time I seen him he was looking pretty bad. I think he just turned 104. :P
UnfriendlySpidey - 8/29/2010, 12:51 PM
Awesome find @ Poni thanks for the info as always!!!

Like Willis alot, but as Ben Grimm??

I can see it now:

"IT'S KLOBBERIN' TIME!! YIPPEE KIYAY MOTHER [FRICK]ER!"

lmao

Nice choice Tea!

Unmasked - 8/29/2010, 1:13 PM
What??????

This is Fox right? (Can not believe I'm saying this lmao) This actually sounds really REALLY good. Good directors......CHECK. Staying true to the look of the comics......CHECK.

Can Fox really make a good movie????

You've Been UNMASKED!!!
Ryguy88 - 8/29/2010, 1:15 PM
Ha, Vigo does love to show his dong!
secretasianboy - 8/29/2010, 1:16 PM
as the voice
HELL YEAH
satanors - 8/29/2010, 1:19 PM
I take it this is bad news day.
Suzanne - 8/29/2010, 1:20 PM
Personally I liked Micheal Chickless in the first set of Fantastic 4 live action movies when he was the Thing. So I think he should do the voice.
superotherside - 8/29/2010, 1:30 PM
hmmm... i think he might be good
jazzman - 8/29/2010, 1:46 PM
they should get Kevin Michael Richardson to voice The Thing since his a better voice actor
airbeyonder18 - 8/29/2010, 1:48 PM
I think Bruce Willis is an amazing actor, but I don't think he's the right choice for this movie.
