I didn't even know there had been a Captain America film before, until just about 4 months ago. Now this is a film most people try to not bring up on purpose on many, many grounds but I felt this news was kinda noteworthy.

Just a little bit of juice on the film for your own information: supposedly Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Val Kilmer were some of the few considered to play the iconic character. The film itself was supposed to be a huge budget spectacle for 20th Century Fox. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, the financiers left the project just before it started filming and the result was, well, a special kinda film.

The man behind the film was Albert Pyun, famous for his low budget b-movies and recuts.

According to Pyun, the "director's cut" will be based on "my own 35 mm CA work picture and temp mix" that I did before he left the film.

The film is now extended to the original 124 minutes instead of 97 minutes. It has "a few added scenes, and is more character-oriented and less 'super hero action.'" Also, Pyun's version has a different soundtrack and is in 5.1 stereo.

It will arrive on BluRay in May, and screen at the Fantasia Film Festival in July and B-Movie Celebration in September. For details on the release you can sign up to get more announcements over at Albert Pyun’s website: www.pyun.com/

Here's the trailer to the film, in case you haven't watch it:

thedudeabides - 3/22/2011, 2:38 PM

CapFan79 - 3/22/2011, 2:40 PM
What, is there a deleted scene of a third person who he steals a car from?
maniaonline - 3/22/2011, 2:41 PM
on blu-ray? [frick] yeah!

I saw this long ass time ago in the 90's. my dad came home from the movie store and had rented it on VHS. It's incredibly shitty, but still good memories watching it. I'll buy it for sure!
tracydavis001 - 3/22/2011, 2:43 PM
I still have this on VHS in my book room!!!
LEEE777 - 3/22/2011, 2:45 PM
ANG @ Sad thing is...

Even this is still gonna be better than Fox's movie coming out! : D

Seriously? You haven't heard of this until 4 months ago???

WTF? : P
marvel72 - 3/22/2011, 2:47 PM
terrible film, sort of liked it in the 90s.

but we've got captain america the first avenger now,we don't need this.

new release straight to the bargin bin.
SageMode - 3/22/2011, 2:49 PM
I just watched this the other day. SMH.
Such a travesty. I laughed the whole time
Jp499 - 3/22/2011, 2:50 PM
They need to have Chris Evans steal a car in the new movie like Cap did in the old one.

Cap from that movie HAS to get kudos for pulling that off not onece, but TWICE.

and yes @CapFan79 There will be a third,, fifth , and sixth theft.
Jimdlux - 3/22/2011, 2:55 PM
Cool! I was hoping this would get released! I liked it, had an Incredible Hulk (original TV Series) feel to it.
TDKR11 - 3/22/2011, 2:56 PM
I might pick this up, I thought this movie was decent. Not bad or great but still watchable and it did stay true to some of the source material from the Captain America in the comics.
ffasoldier3 - 3/22/2011, 3:02 PM
HAHA...that picture of Cap looks like he's retarded
supyrman - 3/22/2011, 3:03 PM
You can watch this film on Hulu. It's ridiculous. Cap steals a car at least twice, and his costume is all rubbery. Not to mention that Red Skull is goofy looking. Though it is hilarious and worth at least one watch.
MoumentheBatman - 3/22/2011, 3:06 PM
That's weird! I recall watching a different Captain America movie when I was a kid. It had nothing to do with Red Skull or any of the stuff above and had something to do with a nuclear bomb being detonated and Captain America drove a bike and wasn't the first Captain America.
I feel lost here! They made 2 Captain America movies??!!
Spock - 3/22/2011, 3:10 PM
C-Rating & never seen it!
Angelus - 3/22/2011, 3:11 PM
@LEEE - Yeah =P I am actually serious about that. =)
Jakeroo - 3/22/2011, 3:13 PM
This is awesome!!!!

I want blu-rays of 1970's spiderman and also
the orig Fantastic four film!!!!

Sortis - 3/22/2011, 3:15 PM
I actually liked this movie, so I will definitely pick it up, the best cap movie to date, till the Chris Evans one comes out anyway.
Kopite96 - 3/22/2011, 3:17 PM

ClarkFarley2012 - 3/22/2011, 3:17 PM
Lol I remember this movie. It was horrible. Almost every "new" Marvel movie coming out, there has been one made before, but Marvel shys away cuz they suck. Look up the very first FF4 movie. It's horrible lmao!!
lokisilvertongue - 3/22/2011, 3:17 PM

Kopite96 - 3/22/2011, 3:19 PM

EditNinja - 3/22/2011, 3:27 PM

Kopite96 - 3/22/2011, 3:28 PM
Think iv done it

Kopite96 - 3/22/2011, 3:30 PM
Cartoon aswell

JorEl77 - 3/22/2011, 3:31 PM
It's about damn time.Yeah,it's some low budget cheesey ass movie, but who cares. It's still a superhero movie that was made at all.I'm going to pick it up because who knows,it may be worth a lot of money someday collector wise.I hope they put out that old Fantastic Four movie from the 90's,as well as The Amazing Spider-Man tv show from the late 70's too. They need to put all the cheesy ass superhero stuff that was ever made out on DVD.It's like a collector's dream.
SCOURGE - 3/22/2011, 3:46 PM
I want the 70's Reb Brown Captain America movies released on DVD as well!
comicb00kguy - 3/22/2011, 3:51 PM
At least these guys TRIED to get the costume right.

This movie is also good silly fun. Good excuse to grab a six-pack or two and Rifftrax it with some buddies.
kookevin3 - 3/22/2011, 4:07 PM
I hate this movie... But I will still buy it on bluray to have all the marvel movies... Damn OCD.
stewbondra - 3/22/2011, 4:18 PM
depending on the price, it would be an intriguing buy . . . im curious to see what kind of extras they would put on the disc, other than it being an extended cut.
EntertainmentAddict - 3/22/2011, 4:30 PM
I am gonna buy this, as I truly enjoyed it. Now I just hope they FINALLY release the 2 TV films to DVD FINALLY. Thought they were well written and acted, just needed bigger budgets...
teppy1954 - 3/22/2011, 4:49 PM
As bad as the 90's Captain America movie was, it was 10000% better than the two (yes I said two) pilots that CBS forced on the public in the 70s. The first didn't even use the Captain America uniform (that is the one that is here with "Reb Brown" (an actor that was a never-was instead of a has-been) in the title role, riding his "Captain America-cycle" with the shield reduced to a plexiglass hood ornament.

The second pilot was even more barferiffic, with the original costume at least from the neck down, but the motorcycle helmet replacing the mask, and of course we couldn't have Captain America without his motorcycle and plexiglass shield.

Totally Craptacular.
Moozreversed - 3/22/2011, 4:53 PM
i really like the costume in that movie
