In June it was reported that Robert Rodriguez was aiming to shoot his live-action Jetsons movie sometime in next year, but now that has fallen through (Pajiba is reporting that the project fell apart during the summer and Rodriguez left). So who's up for shooting this cartoon/comic book live-action movie now? Read on...
Rodriguez has had a lot on his movie plate and he's still producing both "Machete" (in post-production) and a favorite here at CBM; "Predators" (now shooting) and scripting "Spy Kids 4". He's also had dozen's others in-development projects over the last year, though few have managed to get anywhere, including Barbarella and the sequel to Sin City. So who's the man or woman to replace him?
Well according to pajiba.com sources, Peter Segal, who was the director of "Get Smart" a Warner Bros. film is the studio's top choice. His deal is not in place yet, but it's a sure bet he will be the one who ends up taking over the reigns of the troubled movie project.
Partly why the project has not got going yet too is because no talent wanted to sign on, including Jim Carrey, who passed on the role of lovable George Jetson.
Pajiba is also saying that their scrapping the script and looking to write an entirely new one once Peter Segal is fully on-board.
LEEE777 - Well i kinda loved The Flintstones movie and not that ive seen many "Jetson" cartoons, nor read the comic books, i'd love to see a live-action movie of this. I think it would be really funny and cool to see and hopefully Peter Segal will sometime in the future be on the "Shazam!" project from Warner Brothers too. Until then, i say yay to a "Jetsons" movie! ; )
