Tobey Maguire Addreses The Black Cat Rumors

The Black Cat rumor for Spider-man 4 has gone into overdrive for the past few weeks, with lots of unconfirmed reports flying around online. Now, Spider-Man himself, Tobey Maguire, weighs in!


From MTV Splash Page.

"People tell me about [the rumors], because I'm involved in the project — so yeah, I hear things," Maguire told MTV News during a press event for his upcoming film "Brothers."

"Mostly, it's just kind of interesting," he added. "I don't pay too much mind to it. I'm just glad people are talking about it and excited about it."

I am not expecting anything good from this movie... I haven't heard one good thing yet. If Black Cat is in it they're going to change her character, Kraven WILL NOT WORK and I don't think the Lizard has enough background yet.

I think that the Kingpin will be in it, since him and black cat in some way seem to be connected in the comics when it came to spiderman(correct me if im wrong). And awhile ago there was that rumor that a villian who was well connected to new york was going to be in the movie. Hint Hint Kingpin and blackcat. The signs are there just have to put them together.

hey guys guess what tobey macguire doesnt know shit. big suprise. even if he did he would be contractual obligated not to say what he does know (not to mention all the money hes going to make because everyone already wants to see this movie) however this is not news. i am so sick of hearing all the rumors and bullshit on this site. i once came here to be the first of all the people i know who had inside information about the movies i loved and care about. now no information is new and even less of it is actual credible information... if you people have no news to report on quit posting new pages just because your a bunch of [frick]ing losers with nothing better to do than make rumor pages. hey guess what i heard that spiderman is going have to battle iron man in the next one. and hes not going to be able to handle it so superman and green lantern team up and kill them both... yeah, I dont have high hopes for this movie but I do hope they prove me wrong. I would like to see Tobey past the torch.

Thank you Tobey, you did well in Spiderman 1 and 2. But I am ready to see a more confident/sciencetist Parker. I want to see him figuring things out. A more wise cracking, prankster/smart ass Spiderman. The one we all know and love.

@Crashtest: That's why I'm kind of hoping they put Vulture in this movie. While he's not the coolest Spidey villain, he would provide for the perfect opportunity to wisecrack. People give Raimi crap about SM3, but that's the only movie of his that I didn't like too much. (There were redeemable parts.)

@ukboy28: All I'm saying is that Raimi is a great director. If he makes one bad film, I'm not that worried about it. Hopefully they've learned from SM3 and 4 will be good. I have no particular villain I want to see. I just want a good film.

Jake G makes Spidey look like an opening in a costume meant for ambidextrous quilters. That is to say.... not very impressive ... but definitely gets the job done. Kinda like a silicone butt plug.

Im kinda of two minds bout them continuing the Maguire Spiderman..
Split between all three there was a lot of cool stuff an the kinda stuff you can watch again n again :-D

But

they also really messed up on spidey 3 :-( and a lot on that movie still makes me cringe

preparing rant.....

. Parker spends all his time in spiderman 1 + 2 wanting MJ, an then when he gets her he acts like a jerk (an that was before he got the black suit)

. Sandman was portrayed as a lil too misunderstood and "not a bad guy" at heart, the daughter thing was outta place.

. they brought Venom in an even though not played as good as he could o been' killed him off... an now the only hope of Venom is an un spidey related spin off an reboot ... "which sucks" :< , we shoulda been able to see Venom again as an unlikely ally for Spidey another movie.

. Spidey had "1 Fight" in the black suit (ignoring thee little scuff with Harry where he wore it under his clothes.....Oh' and he wore it the same way on a date with Gwen and DANCED.... badly)

Okay im gona stop now.. feel myself gettin cross... .. what was my point again?? :-).LoL.

Oh yeah ;-) im glad for the sake of continuty, i just think 4's gonna have to be pretty awesome to win back the film fans.

MJ is by far the worst part of spiderman. She is a horribly annoying character. Kirsten Dunst is a very good actress, but her character is so dull and boring that they lose her impact completely. I'd be more worried about MJ ruining another spiderman film than the wrong or badly cast villains.

I mean seriously, how many times can one girl find herself hanging from the side of some massive structure?

The only way I'd ever support a movie with 2 villains is if they did it in a way where the villains didn't have that awkward and ridiculous "lets work together" moment. The only movie it worked ok in was "Batman Returns" The movies it didn't work in? Batman & Robin, Batman Forever, Spiderman 3, X-men 3... Why would 2 homicidal maniacs who want nothing more than to kill a hero with their own bare hands all of a suden decide to play nice with another who could not only screw up their own plans but deprive them of the thing they want most in the world? It may make the script easier to write but the story suffers incredibly.
If they do have 2 villains, they should have a scene where they consider working together and then one of them says "on second thought, that's totally gay" and then kills the other!

in xmen it at least made a little sense though, magneto was gathering an army, he wasn't really trying to work "with" anyone, he was the general, and they were his soldiers.

but i agree with eveything else! its funny, in batman knightfall, the joker and scarecrow team up, but then joker just wants to keep playing games, and scarecrow wants to finish their plan...they argue, scarecrow sprays joker with fear gas to see what he's afraid of, but the joker just ended up liking it, lol. then joker beat scarecrow senseless with the back of a chair. too funny!

but if spidey 4 goes the two villain route, they should pick kraven and lizard, then the two won't be teaming up. kraven would be hunting lizard, and spidey would be caught in the middle. it would be fun and new way of doing the 2 villain recipe :)

Hey Venomous, if you come on here calling everyone 'fags' than you obviously lack the maturity and/or intelligence to hold a civil conversation, so do us all a favor and don't post anything here ever again. We don't need any more uppity assholes with middle-school mentalities giving us lectures on what constitutes 'news worthy' material. Yes its annoying to hear rumors and have them debunked, but guess what, rumors are fun. It makes us conjecture and adds to the hype of the project. Given that there are YEARS between movies and their sequels, there is a lot waiting to do, and how do we pass time? Conjecture. Otherwise, this site would be updated once a month, and what fun is there in that?

IMO the only real big-time villains they could use left are Carnage, Black Cat, and Lizard. Maybe a few others for extending time like Mysterio or Electro. But I can't see this going anywhere past 5. 3 already made me wanna stop the series and give it a few pops on the ass.
