300: Rise of an Empire,  told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster 300, is a new chapter of the epic saga, which takes the action to a new battlefield-the sea.

The story pits the Greek general Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces, ruled by the mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and led by Artemisia, the vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Knowing his only hope of defeating the overwhelming Persian armada will be to unite all of Greece, Themistokles ultimately leads the charge that will change the course of the war.

Adapted from a screenplay by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad,  based on Frank Miller's graphic novel "Xerxes," Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures' 300: Rise of an Empire was directed by Noam Murro. Produced by Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Bernie Goldmann, with Thomas Tull, Frank Miller, Stephen Jones, Jon Jashni and  Craig J. Flores serving as executive producers. Starring Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey, David Wenham, Hans Matheson, Igal Naor, Rodrigo Santoro, Callan Mulvey,  Andrew Tiernan and Jack O'Connell.

Meh. Good action but a pretty boring story. I'll wait for it to be on discount.

I liked it too, this SIN CITY and IMMORTALS... all good watches.

This film suffered from trying to do wayyyy too many slow motion scenes. The story was just boring and all the characters didn't hold as much as weight as Snyder's 300. It was just a snore fest for me. The only good scene was the sex scene! lol
TheRationalNerd - 5/10/2014, 6:54 AM
I think that they should've just made it a prequel like they originally planned on doing at first.

Snyder´s 300 in blu ray is amazing, i don´t think this one would look as good as the first on blu ray

Hip hip hooray!

OK. That was rude.

My IMAX had a back to back run of both 300 films for $20. I really loved 300 and bought the The Complete Experience Blu-ray a few days later. On the other hand, Rise of an Empire was just OK. The story and characters didn't hold up nearly as well. It was kind of boring compared to the first...7 out of 10 would be right. I also thought the 3D glasses made the film way too dark and the 3D was nothing special at all. Eva Green was the only saving grace. The sex scene was stupid though.

I would like to see it again without the 3D so I will wait for a very good sale. It isn't worth the full price.

With all the action (which was the only positive thing...if you can call it positive....to be said about the film) I still found it to be a snoozer.

Gunsmith@ Lol...I forgot to mention that. I have never been so sick and annoyed of cliche, motivational speeches ever!
loki668 - 5/10/2014, 10:55 PM
Quick! To the Bat-Dollar-Bin!!

Just kidding. This was nowhere near as good as 300 but I'm going to buy it.
