In the March 24th second season premiere of Thundercats (called "New Alliances"), the Thundercats go on the offensive taking down Mumm-Ra's lizard army piece by piece. Lion-O appeals to the soldiers to turn against their overlord, but Mumm-Ra won't see his army crushed so easily.

ThunderCats ho!
Ceejay - 3/5/2012, 5:31 PM
..Meh, lame fight scenes in this remake and Lion-O looks like a weed compared to the original. Sat through too many mundane episodes of the first season to bother with a second!

This is even worse than Young Justice!
Spidex3000 - 3/5/2012, 6:07 PM
Yea, the original thundercats is almost as bad as the original transformers. People need to learn to let go of nostalgia, accept what's new, and realize that theese shows are made for kids/teenagers(so its a gem when we get shows that are accessible to nerdy adults as well) I think this is a cool interpretation and when they actually have episodes that move the story forward, the show is pretty good. The last Mumm-ra and Lion-O fight was epic.

I THINK THEY DID THUNDERCATS JUSTICE, THE WAY IT'S ANIATED AND THE LIBERTIES THEY TOOK WERE COOL. I ALWAYS WANTED LIONO TO GET WITH OR HAVE A CHANCE WITH CHEETARA BUT THE ORIGINAL STORY, WELL THAT WOULD BE WRONG, EVEN THOUGH HE HAD A ADULT BODY.
Amazo - 3/6/2012, 3:47 AM
This show is great! Kept enough of the original style but also gave it a freshness.
I'm getting tired of people saying it's 'too manga' though. It was always done in a manga style!!! Most of that era's cartoons were from Japanese animation houses. That's where most of us manga fans got our first taste of the genre.

This show is terrible. It pisses on what made the original so great.

Instead of updating the T-cats for this generation, they completely ignored large facets of teh show.

Now they wonder why the show is doing so terrible and teh toys aren't selling well.

hmmmmm.......?

Spidex3000: With all due respect, you must be pretty young to be so anti-nostalgia. Nostalgia is something that tends to be acquired as you get older, and look back on things you enjoyed as a kid or teen. By the time you're in your upper twenties or thirties, most people have things they look back upon as childhood or teenage favorites, like a show or movie you always loved, maybe still love to watch, songs that bring back great memories. Many people, myself included, don't like seeing those memories trampled on by new versions of that show or movie that completely miss the point of what made the original so cool and so timeless. While we certainly shouldn't LIVE in the past, once you've been in the adult world for long enough, it's sure pleasant to take a little time to step back to a better time in life once in a while, and revisit an old favorite.

That said, while I enjoyed the original Thundercats, I personally like the new version. I'm honestly not a fan of some of the character redesigns, but I've enjoyed the stories, and the Snarf is actually tolerable, quite unlike the original where it was one of the most obnoxious characters in the history of animation. I must agree with you: that last Lion-O v. Mumm-Ra fight WAS epic!

I really enjoyed season one. The animation is very well done and I like the storyline. I am a fan of the older show and it will always have its place, but I think this is a well-done take on a modern version of the show.

The shows good, the animation is great, and the voice acting is fine. You guys need to stop hating on it just because "it not the old thundercats". Guess what, the old ones still exist, they didnt wipe them of the face of the earth when the new came out. Go out and get them on DVD.

Watch some of the old ones now. The voice acting is @*&$ing terrible. The animation, past the opener, is terrible, stiff, and bland in terms of color. I liked the old ones, believe me i had all the toys, cartoons, ect, but the new one is better.

For the japanimation comments, you guys are off point. You do realize the original was made in Japan right? It was contracted out to a small Japanese animation company, so guess what, the old one is japanimation as well. Lots of your "beloved" cartoons were contracted to Japanese studios for the art work and animation. The studio that does it now has done shorts for Gotham Knight and Halo. They do an amazing job, as most Japanese animation studios do.

This show rocks, but um this is still the first season. It just went on hiatus, like Young Justice.
KNIGHT3000 - 3/6/2012, 7:57 AM
I like this show, Young Justice too, but nothing beats Clone Wars.

@monkeyballs3 No bubbles burst here, I can use Wiki to. The difference is that I read the WHOLE article and its references, not just a skim over. Where did I "tell anyone what to like" in my comment? Im simply defending the show from ignorant comments like "Sorry. It's Japanimation. No thank you. I will pass on this crapola." or "This is shit compared to the old one". I didn't call you out, ive seen this exact same comment in almost every post for the new Thundercats. So don't start that nerdy talking shit through the computer. Its pathetic and sad.
Rankin-Bass is the production company, which means they paid for and distributed it. Past that, they had some of there own voice actors but they didnt animate it. They used Japanese animation companies for MAJORITY of there stuff.
Ted Wolf created the story and Mike Germakian took lead on character concepts BUT let the Japanese do the final rendering of the Thundercats. So theres more Japanese influence than you want to give credit for. They animated it in the same way they animated there own shows at the time. The opening sequence is 100% traditional anime. The show is Japanese animation that was made for the US.
TheDynamo - 3/6/2012, 9:55 AM
The animation and character design is decent, but the voice "acting" is f#cking terrible.
felixxx - 3/6/2012, 7:54 PM
Im not saying your ignorant man. Its the comment, the idea that people(not just you) wont give the show a chance because they dont like anime or because its not in continuum with the old ones. Its always a subject in these articles. Im just trying to point out that the old ones were done by the Japanese just like the new ones. After you explain a little WHY you dont like it, your comment makes more sense. Im not bashing your opinion. Sorry to offend you, really. The end of your first comment came as a jab. Im not telling any one what to like, just trying to support the things I like.
