First! And there are so many different things you could do with a venom movie. I really hope this comes to fruition
calin88 - 3/7/2012, 4:39 AM
Comic book readers would say yes, the rest of the world would ask who the f*** is this guy? I'm not saying that Venom doesn't have potential, but lesser known characters, in the current time, with 4-5 or more CBMs a year, would never stand out, and just making movies about all CB characters isn;t so much fun, what's next? Robin movie? Captain Atom movie? She-Hulk movie? no thanks!
@RikiUndead, good for you, you're first
jimoakley666 - 3/7/2012, 4:42 AM
No. Think he's a bit of a boring character, myself. Not a patch on Spidey's classic villain's gallery and I can't believe he made it to the screen before Lizard, Mysterio, Rhino and Kraven.
Whiteharted - 3/7/2012, 4:49 AM
Calin88 Venom IS well known, almost EVERYONE outside comic fans know who he is, because at one point he was the MOST popular villian of Spidey. So he would most certainly stand out. He is NOT lesser known.

jimoakley666 Venom stands head and shoulders above most of Spidey rouge gallery, and I can't believe you actually prefer Kraven of all villians you Mother[frick]ing RETARD!

One dimensional support character.
DarthDan - 3/7/2012, 4:55 AM
They could totally make a Venom, movie and havie it enormously faithful to the comincs!

Maximum Carnage anyone?! You could have Venom as the anti-hero.
xstryker - 3/7/2012, 5:00 AM
Go with the current Flash Thompson version. A tragic story of a man coming to terms with alcoholism and losing his legs, given the chance to walk again by the government, but slowly losing control of the symbiote. At the end, he should learn that he doesn't need legs or the symbiote to do something heroic.

"Only if they do it as a "R" rated movie and make it like the Alien movies (1 & 2). Dark, scarey and bloody"

Generic CBM statement. They're not going to make that movie because the only people besides comicbook fans that would go are kids that watch Spidey cartoons.
Besides, judging a movie based on its rating, how bloody it is, etc. is just ridiculous.
You should say something like "Only if they make it faithful to the comics AND can tell a good story with a good film"
But even so, I don't want to see this happen. In Webb's series I wouldn't mind if they did the Ultimate Venom story. I never want to see Carnage. And no spin off that's not actually a spin off. That's how we go Catwoman.
SwingsetKnight - 3/7/2012, 5:45 AM
No. Bad Hollywood. How the [frick] are you supposed to make a movie about a guy with all of Spider-man's powers and a spider on his chest when you've just REBOOTED Spider-man so Venom hasn't existed yet?

That aside, there are DOZENS, literal DOZENS, of characters who actually have a shred of depth and have been waiting a long time for a good big-screen iteration. Where's that "good" Daredevil movie we've been hearing about?

Oh, but I'm sure that if they make it "gritty and horrific", everything will be fine. Horror movies are never bad. And after all, they've got such a rich body of source material to draw from. All of those famous, acclaimed Venom arcs.

Like, uh....and...er...
ClarkFarley2012 - 3/7/2012, 5:46 AM
Don't talk about a Venom movie..DO IT!!
Fogs - 3/7/2012, 7:11 AM
Venom isn't a hero. It's a anti-hero wannabe. Nice as a villain though.
Canon108 - 3/7/2012, 7:22 AM
Venom would make a great movie...he's more deserving of a second stint in film than some characters are of even getting their first. Captain Marvel, Sub-Mariner, Mysterio, Dr. Strange are all boring IMO. Mysterio especially, I can't believe some people advocate for a villain that makes bright lights and throws fire crackers...that's it, that's all he does and some people want a film devoted to him, lol.

Venom has more potential, is the point I'm trying to make. And if Wolverine can have him own film (after making every x-men film his own film) Venom can break out from behind Spider-Man.
SpideyQuad - 3/7/2012, 7:44 AM
Where is Grif when ya need him?
novaprime - 3/7/2012, 8:53 AM
I wouldve love to see en in spidy
CapedCrusader - 3/7/2012, 10:49 AM
@Pux I'm getting that feeling too.
BmanHall - 3/7/2012, 11:06 AM
@ DarthDan: Yeah, sure. So you want an "enormously faithful" movie but you also want Venom as the anti-hero. In order to be faithful, wouldn't Spider-Man have to be in Maximum Carnage? So wouldn't that just be a Spider-Man movie?

44.44% of you are [frick]ing idiots.
PeterParker1991 - 3/7/2012, 12:52 PM
Wouldn't work. Just like a solo Cyclops film won't ever be made. What I want is for Venom to be done justice in a Spiderman movie, hopefully at some point in this new series, especially since this new series is more faithful to the comics.
SeanC - 3/7/2012, 3:25 PM
A venom movie without spidey is like bread without butter, you can have it but its dry and nowhere near as good.
hartley07 - 3/7/2012, 3:30 PM
you need spidey first because spideys powers are what give venom HIS. just hold off and make venom CORRECTLY in the second or third amazing spiderman. you could do 3 movies: 1- black suit spidey, 2- spidey vs venom, 3- venom and spidey vs carnage. it would make my nuts rageous.
LoudLon - 3/7/2012, 4:19 PM
I've never been a fan of Venom. I have zero interest in a movie.
modelsbyray2 - 3/7/2012, 4:52 PM
itll be way worse than the halle berry catwoman and ghostrider movies combined
ULTIMOSPIDER - 3/7/2012, 5:28 PM
Nobody is thinking....how the hell are you going to do a Venom movie w/o introducing him in TASM yet? Are some of you mental? They have to wait...they are rushing it

And no there should be no continuation of SM3 Venom cause that was crap !!!
HulkbusterNYC - 3/7/2012, 5:38 PM
The only way I would want a Venom movie is if it had something to do with the new Spider Man movie.. To just give him his own solo film without Spider Man somehow involved just doesn't seem right to me.. That's like a Lex Luthor movie with no Superman.. A Sabertooth movie with no Wolverine.. A Joker movie with no Batman.. The dynamic of both characters going head to head is what makes the story IMO.. You have to introduce Venom in a Spidey movie first and then have him in his own solo movie but within the Webb/Spidey universe and you won't need Spidey to be a main character, just play a supporting role.. Thats the only way I'd be interested in seeing it.. Without Spider Man playing some type of part it's just not a Venom movie..
nonserviam - 3/7/2012, 8:29 PM
Flash Thompson's Venom, No Spider-Man required.
SuperSomething616 - 3/8/2012, 1:06 AM
Can't do him without Spidey...the origin would just be to messed up...set him up in a future film...properly...then give him a solo film...
