New ROBOCOP Licensing Sizzle Reel Featuring Concept Art

In this new promotional sizzle reel for 2014's RoboCop, concept art (that may please fans of the original) is shown throughout, and director Jose Padilha and star Joel Kinnaman also speak their thoughts on the film itself...

Recently released online, this RoboCop licensing reel gives us the low-down on the overall tone and feel of the movie, while visual designers show off some of their concept artwork for a more silver-looking suit, the OmniCorp offices and RoboCop 1.0. The sizzle reel doesn't feature any actual footage from the movie, although it is still a must-see.

I wonder how much the budget is for this movie.If his helmet assembles in the movie just like it does in that concept art that will look badass onscreen.

I love the bussniess side and tenchicial stand point of thew industry it's going to make fun of. it sounds and this short really looks interesting.

If they were going to do a Robocop then they may have done better to restart the entire mythology not attempt to retell the original.
The original is near perfect. The effects still hold up except for the shot of Dick Jones falling to his death. They used a stop motion puppet and the arms were waaaay to long.

The best move wouldve been to have a near original story with entirely new characters.

@Darkmetal in a way, this is a restart to the entire mythology, but it takes elements of the original. Its like if you were making a Spider-Man reboot, you kept the elements that made it Spider-Man like Uncle Ben's deaht, Peter Parker, etc. I've read a revision of the script and it's really different from the original!

@TheAlexLynch is there a way you can show me the script, I'd love to read it.

And is it just me, or does any one else prefer the "MARK 1" design compared to the the black one they end up with. and I understand why he has a human hand, but its just so distracting. i hope some where in the film it get blown off. but i like the sound of this film. iv got high hopes. but that being said, i had high hopes for amazing spider-man and we all know what went on there.

If the suit actually looks more like that in the movie than what we have already seen thus far, it won't be so bad. Still wish they'd cover that stupid bare hand. That takes me right out of the robotic side, and makes him appear to just be a guy in a robot suit. If they wanted a remaining human element to be shown, they have his mouth. The hand isn't necessary, and pretty retarded. That's really my only complaint.

With a real hand he can break it lose a finger, shit even if be bangs it against the other robot he is fighting it is going to get screwd up bad... Unless they make him not get messed up? WHY DIDN'T THEY GO WITH THIS DESIGN?? so much better than what we've seem so far. this looks like a robotic suit. the black suit we've seen looks rubbery and plastic and obviously a guy in a suit.

^the design will be in the movie. There are four different RoboCop suits he wears. This will be featured for AT LEAST 20 minutes.

Looks very cool. I like both of those suits. The human hand looks weird, but maybe it gets removed at some point in the film? I also like the new ED-209 designs. I'm really excited about this movie. I love the original and Jose Padhilla's Elite Squad movies, so I'm very interrested in seeing how this works out.

@TheAlexLynch wait 4 suits? So its showing the evolusion to the final design, but if you read a re-write of the script , do you think its good or bad? I think the new suit looks Amazing!! if they make him going more and more robotic and they seem to be honnoring and restarting the mythos. kinda like the new TMNT :3

"Hey guys, I've got a great idea, lets start off with an amazing suit which will be a take on the original 1980's silver and black design, which looks great, and then, lets turn it all black and boring, and make him look like a G.I-Batman Joe kinda dude with a weird tiny human hand, that way, the toys won't sell either because the figures will look incredibly generic and boring and black, did I mention that about the black? Anyways, yeah, it won't look anything like Robocop anymore and more like Super G.I JoeRoboBatSwat team man so kids won't even know what the hell it is and the toys will end up in the 99p basket in Forbidden Planet!

Well, they can make their new crappy rubber-weird-human-hand Bogocop movie if they want, it will never match up to the Original, why? Because it was O.R.I.G.I.N.A.L, a word that Hollywood seems to have forgotten the meaning of.

Hopefully they go with the Metallic and Black as the final product. Looks way better and believe it or not, the metallic gives it more Character than just the plain black.

@Parker2017-You need to up your meds, and pay attention dude. Yeah, what you're seeing up there is called concept art, but he is actually going to have a bare hand in the movie. Should have gone with silver in the color of armor.

Hate the sleek look,the original was best because he was like a friggin tank!
Big & powerful..i bet in the new one he will do flips & somersaults.

Why dose he have one hormal hand? Everything about this looks likes shit. Why don't they just for one night bring back robocop in the movies?!?! This is what you get from stupid remakes, a beast that looks like a cat, spider-man's suit looks like a basket ball with gay slippers, a ganaric shitty look freddy kruger, a point less friday the 13th, the enterprise with teens and a puny scrawny robocop. Remakes should of stopped with texis chainsaw and holloween.

I'm still enraged with this decision they went with in the script - which apparently is the first draft, anyway, but I doubt there will be any significant change in the final product either - but...well, it's better than nothing, at least!



The above concept art is the perfect example of how you're supposed to recreate the classic armor, and I'm glad to know that we're most likely getting to see it on the screen, regardless of its minimum screen time.

Here's to hoping the RoboCop 4.0 will not make me regret for supporting this movie.

Was digging the suit shown in the set pics prior, but now that i've seen the Silver suit, it makes it hard to defend the former. Silver looks 1,000x better, all the way! DON'T fUHCK THIS UP, HOLLYWOOD.

I think I'm liking the updated look, though it should have been bigger in the chest armor area to look more intimidating.
