That's pretty dumb, but whatever.

I don't see how it matters how they got their abilities or who their parents are. I also don't really see Fox using them in any movies outside of easter eggs in X2 and X-Men Origins Wolverine. I don't think Marvel should use them if they don't at least hint at their names.
MarvelWeiner
MarvelWeiner - 5/20/2013, 3:16 PM
I can picture Fury introducing them to the Avengers by their real names
FrenzyFreak
FrenzyFreak - 5/20/2013, 3:16 PM
Their backstory and names don't need to be changed at all. MS has the right to call them by there superhuman aliases and while they won't use the term "mutant", there backstory could still be vaguely alluded to without altering their origins.
TelaVizion
TelaVizion - 5/20/2013, 3:16 PM
In both movie worlds, characters are mostly called by their real names anyway. In a FOX movie, they will still mostly be called Wanda and Pietro

Excellent post! Awesome. Its gonna be interesting to see how they choose to explain their powers... Please don't use extremis ;-)

"However, it would be a very long time until seeing Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in Fox's Marvel movies seeing as how actor Michael Fassbender's Magneto character is quite young and probably not going to have his mutant children anytime soon."

Too bad they've never had Magneto portrayed in the films as an older person who would have grown children already.

This is one rumor I definitely don't believe.

How does Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver connote being a mutant? What's with this tide of baseless rumors the past few weeks? It's really getting out of hand now.

keep the mutants with the x-men

CBM.com should have a section where these rumors can be posted and then moved to the legitimate sections once they've been proven legit.

@MARVELPSYCHO79 To me they would just seem out of place in an avengers movie. comics is one thing but film is another. it would just seem odd having mutants in a series of films which appears to not have mutants. its not a matter of how fox would treat them as having them in the avengers without reference to their background/father and names would be 'butchering them' in a way. plus personally i have no problem with fox/marvel after first class which to me is a better movie than anything in the MCU so far (except maybe the first iron man).
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:05 PM
Seems people are hating on the x-men movies simply because they are owned by fox. didn't anyone see iron man 3? plus thor and im2 were far from good. clearly disney/marvel are fully capable of butchering characters and making bad movies. fox marvel has made many mistakes but first class was fantastic, wolverine looks like its going to be the best marvel movie of the year and days of future past sounds and is looking to be amazing
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:06 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 I really loved first class but thats my opinion and u have yours. as for TASM, i hated that movie, truly awful stuff.
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:08 PM
to me first class was well directed, acted, and written. it was both entertaining and had a great deal of substance. apart from iron man 1, cap, and avengers i haven't been all that impressed with marvel studios
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:09 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 as I said TASM was awful. 2012 witnessed the downfall of spiderman with a crappy movie, cartoon series, and comics
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:16 PM
@LEVI I agree. black panther and ms marvel would be great additions instead of sw and qs

"Seems people are hating on the x-men movies simply because they are owned by fox. "

I hate on them because they really haven't aged well. When X-Men first came out, I was pretty into it. But I could barely get through it when I tried it again a year ago. Partly because I've been so spoiled by what's come since, particularly Iron Man, but also...the dialogue and style are just a little too stilted for my taste. Has nothing to do with what studio produced it. I DID enjoy First Class though, which is why I'm not at all excited about the new one. Take what could have been a sweet reboot and sully it with all the ones I'd rather forget.

The Raimi Spiderman movies also haven't aged well for me. Too much cheese.

Wanda & Pietro Maximoff are going to be called Wanda & Pietro Maximoff in The Avengers 2. Wow. Great scoop.
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:24 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 I agree there is a lot wrong but to me a good movie is a good movie whether its exactly like its source or not. using characters and changing aspects of them in certain ways to make the best possible story is fine with me. and this is coming from a person who loves the x-men and are my second favourite marvel creation behind spidey obviously. s witch and q silver could work in avengers 2 it just all depends on how they are applied to the story of the movie

Brainiac13 - 5/20/2013, 4:25 PM
You have to use their names or don't use the characters....that is dumb!!!!
BANE5000

Makes sense and i think it sounds better to call them by theyre actual names
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:31 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 *cough* mandarin *cough* disney/marvel shat on iron mans most famous villain. plus the galactus cloud was silly but its less silly then a giant man in a bright purple suit who floats around in space and eats planets. also u can see galactus in the cloud during the movie. don't pretend disney/marvel is perfect because they aren't. they've sacrificed the quality of their films to be more like the comics but at the same time ruin some of their best villains and characters.
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:33 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 Singer is a great director who spent to much time creating a homage to the donner films than creating a successful superman reboot. x-men sparked the superhero frenzy and X2 remains without a doubt one of the best superhero movies ever made.
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:39 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 since when does a film's box office # and CGI relate to the quality of a director and film? by that logic transformers 3 and iron man 3 were great movies because they had great cgi and made a billion dollars...but we all know those 2 movies were awful
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:41 PM
@LEVI add first class and spiderman 1 to that and to me u got urself a complete list
Nick56
Nick56 - 5/20/2013, 4:44 PM
anyways Im done...tired of discussing such pointless matters. just enjoy the fact that there are great superhero movies being made by a number of companies and stop your moaning that not everything has to be made by marvel studios in order to be considered a good movie. every studio has its hits as well as misses
IronVenom22
IronVenom22 - 5/20/2013, 5:06 PM
As far as i know, they didn't call Clint Barton "Hawkeye" by name in the Avengers, so i can see them not call them by their codenames either.

@IronVenom22 -

Black Widow calls him Hawkeye at least once during the last battle sequence. It's during the point where he fires an arrow at Loki, knocking him down on to Stark TOwer.

@MARVELPSYCHO79

For the original Superman and Superman 2...they are both cheese. That whole part in Superman where the army finds the chick on the side of the road, and the commanding officer is telling his soldier to give her mouth to mouth and chest pumping, etc etc...but then steps in because he can't ask one of his men to do something he's not willing to do himself.

It can certainly be a really good, enjoyable cheese...but it's a solid brick to be sure.

I'm still sticking with my theory. Foxs big announcement. I believe it will be that Marvel can use certain Mutants. Their gonna adjust the contract. We will probably have to wait for Comic Con. Thank you for asking the lawyer, appreciate the research.
IronVenom22

@Rudah i think she says clint, but they never called catwoman in the dark knight rises. That being said they can still be called be normal names and have a codename or be given the name by Tony or something.

Sorry, just watched it earlier today. She says Hawkeye. He says, "Nat, what are you doing?" And she says, "little help."

She clearly says Hawkeye.

Happy11 - 5/21/2013, 2:25 AM
No offense but thats obvious that they were going to be called by their proper names. Or the scene introducing them would go like this "hello I'm quicksilver and this is my sister the scarlet witch. Well im steve this is tony, bruce, thor, nick and natasha" lol
Odin
Odin - 5/21/2013, 3:13 AM
"Might not be called..." and question mark, yeah I believe when there's something official.
