It's a Doctor Strange bonanza across the Internet right now and it probably will continue up to next month's 2013 San Diego Comic Con now that a big announcement will be taking place regarding the Doctor. So without any further delay, let's get into the next batch of information regarding a Doctor Strange movie before another site publishes similar info before ComicBookMovie.com does.

According to the same source as yesterday's post, who is actually an insider with intimate knowledge of the development of Doctor Strange but wishes to remain unnamed and anonymous due to the position currently held, Doctor Strange is going to mean more to Phase 3 than most fans are expecting. The following quote is directly from the source and is what Marvel's current thought process is for the Doctor as of right now.

"What I can say is that Strange is being groomed to be the next Iron Man. The studio needs a new 'hub' character going into Phase 3 and beyond, as there is audience fatigue, aging stars and a need to move from Tony Stark/Iron Man as a 'hub' for films."

Doctor Strange will be the new glue that helps holds together the Marvel Cinematic Universe—since he can bounce between so many realms, dimensions and planes—just as Stark has done in the past. (S.H.I.E.L.D. helps do that too.) Whoever is eventually cast in the lead role of the Doctor will most likely have to sign one of those Samuel L. Jackson-like nine-picture deals because, per the source, it seems like Doctor Strange will be making appearances in more films than just his own and potentially The Avenger 3.

Stay tuned as ComicBookMovie.com's The Daily SuperHero is digging for more info on the Doctor before SDCC 2013 arrives and when Marvel Studios makes their big announcement about the Master of the Mystic Arts.

This should be interesting.

Can't wait for Dr.Strange to be officially announced. Hopefully they'll also follow a defenders path, so we can get more Hulk and maybe Valkyrie and Namor
mrjtyree - 6/25/2013, 8:14 AM
I wonder when the last time Dr. Strange led comic sales.... marvel(Disney) thinks that all of these characters can produce what Iron man did and they will find out the hard way that's just not true
Hexagram - 6/25/2013, 8:15 AM
You've got the claws of Wolverine.., the ears of Batman.., make Black Panther happen.
plasticman - 6/25/2013, 8:15 AM
This sounds great. I couldn't see how Dr Strange fit into the grand scheme of things, but going traveling through time and dimensions to weave the MCU more together is a great way to portray the character.

It's the beard isn't it?

@KryptonianAbominationClone
I understand you're a DC Guy first but their is no denying Marvel is in full mode
They have 10 movies in the next 5 years set while we still don't know what DC/WB has in store for us
I can't wait for DC/WB to announce their lineup
ManofSteel23 - 6/25/2013, 8:15 AM
Never been interested in this character, then again I was never interested in iron man until the films, but just imo I dont see this character being well received by non regular movie goers and non comic book readers, but you lot say hes a good character so I will reserve judgment
EdgyOutsider - 6/25/2013, 8:16 AM
@KAC: How? Ant-Man has what? Two villains? I'm still struggling with how they can pick a villain that isn't Ultron to be the villain in Ant-Man, unless they decide to use Ultron in Ant-Man and not in an Avengers movie.

Doctor Strange is a much more interesting character with good villains and I would love for him to be the next hub character for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Ramiel - 6/25/2013, 8:17 AM
I can't see it. Marvel Studios is wishing that they had Spider-Man right about now.
ATrueHero1987 - 6/25/2013, 8:18 AM
This is great news and I really think Black Panther will has own movie in phase 3. BP has the blend of science & mysticism.

thewonderer - 6/25/2013, 8:18 AM
The hub should've been the leader Captain America.

Instead, Marvel doesn't give 2 shits.
Omarvls - 6/25/2013, 8:20 AM
The thing about Marvel that I love is that they think outside the box I mean Guardians of the Galaxy?
and they will follow that up on the Cosmic side of the Franchise with Nova Corps
JoeMomma29 - 6/25/2013, 8:21 AM
LOL @ Ineedrevelation!

Dude and you cannot be the bigger person!

Anyways Dr. Strange should be awesome, there are some great villains to work with.
Viltrumite - 6/25/2013, 8:22 AM
Well now, this does sound enticing. Very interesting. I wonder what, if at all, this says about their general direction for Phase 3 and beyond? So far it's been relegated to the mainstay Avengers, with some expansion with Guardians of the Galaxy. Could we be seeing a far more mystical and cosmic MCU in a few years, one a little more removed from Earthly superheroics?
DrDoom - 6/25/2013, 8:22 AM
THE DEFENDERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ATrueHero1987 - 6/25/2013, 8:22 AM
@thewonderer yes, Marvel doesn't give 2 shits, yet he's coming out with a sequel next year. -_-

Please stop faking & stop hating.
Fogs - 6/25/2013, 8:22 AM
Wow, great! Strange really has this "keymaker" characteristic, he's a problem-solver in the MU who the other characters look for.

Haters gonna hate. IM wasn't much of a known character and look at him now. Some of you are stuck in the 80's with the superfriends cartoon being the superhero reference for all.
wcwpoet - 6/25/2013, 8:22 AM
While I'm looking forward to Doctor Strange why not Captain America as the new glue. I mean the TWS is already setup to be like the unofficial sequel to The Avengers. But this does stress the point that Marvel needs to do everything in their power to try and get Spider-Man back from Sony. Unfortunately Sony is going to milk that cow until it's a dusty husk.
BackwardGalaxy - 6/25/2013, 8:22 AM
You don't just create a new RDJ-Stark. You have to be a little bit lucky and audiences need to be receptive to it. I don't see Strange as that kind of character. I, along with many others, saw the RDJ-Stark explosion coming. This one... I'll wait to see it before I believe it.
darkspark - 6/25/2013, 8:23 AM
They should really focus on Nova as a replacement to Iron Man not Doc Strange...
ATrueHero1987 - 6/25/2013, 8:24 AM
@11TheQuestion11 You could've said the same thing about Blade a long time ago but looked how that turned out. Why don't you WAIT and see?!
fettastic - 6/25/2013, 8:24 AM
They're going to have to cast a VERY charismatic person to fill that role, and frankly the Doc is not like that at all. He's very reserved and serious. What are you gonna do, make him a quipster like Stark? Good luck with that!
EdgyOutsider - 6/25/2013, 8:24 AM
Captain America is the greatest Avenger and no one gives to shits about him, just Iron Man :(

He even has the best solo movie in the MCU. Ah well, Doctor Strange is going to at least get the spotlight. The more supernatural and mystic side of Marvel clearly showing from Phase 3 and on, I wonder if we will see Ghost Rider down the line.

They've encounter each other before. Love to see it on screen.
MrMartinMarvel - 6/25/2013, 8:25 AM
I hope Marvel gets the FF back. While I love Doctor Strange and feel he deserves a movie of his own, I think Marvel is getting a little desperate without their A listers.
fettastic - 6/25/2013, 8:25 AM
Yes I agree Strange is a bit arrogant, but that's because he's so [frick]ing powerful.

Although I am STOKED for a Dr. Strange film, trying to hang all of Marvel on him I fear isn't going to work.
Fry - 6/25/2013, 8:26 AM
I am honestly tired of hearing about Avengers 3 and phase 3.

Alright we understand it's a huge business but I would like to see Marvel slow down with there future plans announcement.

Super Heroes overdose in the near future could happen really fast with this type of behaviour.

It is Marvel responsability to keep the CBM movie exciting. We need to stop announcement about Avengers 3, that's really annoying to hear about the sequel of a movie that even not exist.

Keep going with good comicbook adaptation without boring the audiences will be the next challenge for Marvel ( and DC ).

I really hope this will not happen before Dr Strange because I want to see this badass on a movie.

PS : I'm not a Troll, I like both Marvel and DC adaptation, I kind of liked Iron Man 3 and so loved Man of Steel, I just want less arrogancy from Marvel and want comicbook movie era to never end.
hummingbird68 - 6/25/2013, 8:26 AM
Anyone else think they may start a Defenders line-up?
Simonsonrules - 6/25/2013, 8:26 AM
Do feel a bit sad for the D.C. fans.

@Splenda: that would be the right choice. Enough humor and box office clout.

Interesting that some on here think Dr. Strange won't sell...the movie will be directed to a generation raised on Harry Potter, many of whom will be getting high in college dorms when this movie comes out. These ingredients add up to ticket sales for a Dr. Strange movie, I would think.
EdgyOutsider - 6/25/2013, 8:27 AM
@KAC: I know it's your opinion and I perfectly see where you're coming from. I always have. My problem with Ant-Man movie has always been the villain and the story unless they do Ultron in the movie.
TheSuperguy - 6/25/2013, 8:28 AM
Doctor Strange sounds awesome! Almost as cool as Ant-Man. Never read many of the comics and I've never been a huge fan of the character, but I can't wait for the movie.
JoeMomma29 - 6/25/2013, 8:29 AM
I personally do not think it will be as successful as Ironman because Dr Strange is not as popular as IM, and take consideration that IM was not a big time comic book character either.

Though if they set it up right they can grow the franchise to link up into the Defenders which would be awesome! I am sure Marvel/Disney already have it planned it out.
Ocelot - 6/25/2013, 8:29 AM
Ant-Man's pretty much teleportation and Honey I shrunk the kids fused together.
MrMartinMarvel - 6/25/2013, 8:29 AM
@KAC I'd love to that bitch slap brought to the big screen.
LucasMend - 6/25/2013, 8:30 AM
haha, source.
JoeMomma29 - 6/25/2013, 8:31 AM
Though I love the take on Dr. Strange in the Venture Bros.

MrCBM56 - 6/25/2013, 8:31 AM
KAC

actually after Doc.Strange got his powers, he became more of a likable person while Stark remained a narcissistic asshole.

Thewonderer

Ummm, cap was the leader in The Avengers. Does no one remember him giving orders in the climax. Anyways even though he was sorta leader, it wouldn't make sense for him to be in my opinion. He is just getting use to the world. You want him to lead a team when he doesn't even know how the world works? It wasn't until issues later when Cap was promoted the leader by Stark in the comics so that argument about Steve not leading the team is dumb on your behalf.
NBAfanaddict - 6/25/2013, 8:31 AM
Doc Strange as the centerpiece? Well I didn't see Iron Man becoming so big. Only question would be there world. Tony world was all about technology, which was exciting and cool. Not saying magic isn't, I just wonder how much of a wide-spread appeal Strange would have. Obviously Harry Potter did well at the box office, but I think that its audience would be different from Doctor Strnage's. Still would be intrigued by a movie though. But I wants me some Black Panther as well! (yes "wants was intentional :)
