Could Aaron Johnson Be Heading For X-Men: First Class?

The rumor mill is hard at work today.

First off, let me reiterate, this is just a rumor. If it pans out, we've already started the discussion. If not, we move it to the circular file with so many others. The guys over at Filmonic have come across this picture below that was just taken last week and has come up with an interesting theory. It shows Matthew Vaughn, James McAvoy (Wanted) and Aaron Johnson(Kick-Ass). Two of those are confirmed to be part of the next X-Men movie. Will Johnson make a third? Maybe. Maybe not.

Heatvision reported yesterday that Aaron Johnson is in talks with Bryan Singer for his upcoming movie Jack the Giant Killer (which has been moved to a production date of February 2011 instead of this Summer). So, what is the connection? Singer had announced earlier that he was casting two movies at the same time: Jack and X-Men. Obviously Johnson already has a relationship with Vaughn from Kick-Ass. It is the circle of life, or at least movie making, in this case. One of the largest characters that Singer is supposedly on the lookout for is a young Cyclops.

So what say you - Confirm or Debunk?

Where do I meet you teabag? Lol
Dynamo - 5/28/2010, 1:03 PM
Well would he have time for him to be both in Singer's movie and X-men?
I would much rather him be Peter Parker. I always thought that Cyclops should have a really strong disposition which I'm not sure if he can pull off.
DogsOfWar - 5/28/2010, 1:06 PM
Round the back is where the crabs are, not the lice!

On a sad note: Gary Coleman dead at age 42! Guess he'll never know what Mr. Willis was talkin bout.

R.I.P. Way too young for anyone

imnotwearinghockeypants - 5/28/2010, 1:07 PM
Lockheed, hands down.
Shaman - 5/28/2010, 1:08 PM
If Johnson is Magneto, urgh... not a fan of his. If he's Cyclops... I hope that means that McAvoy will only be Young Charles in flashbacks cause it wouldn't make any damn sense.

R.I.P. Gary... you're lamborghini limousine was awesome!
CaptainAmerica - 5/28/2010, 1:09 PM
I was gonna say something funny but Dogs got me all depressed now :(
imnotwearinghockeypants - 5/28/2010, 1:12 PM
Here's an interesting Google search: type in Lockheed XMen
A lot of those images have a certain theme going on and it's pretty hilarious. Must've been some kind of perverted art contest. Weird.

DogsOfWar - 5/28/2010, 1:14 PM
Sorry Cap-turn that frown upside down. It'll be okay.
StuckInPanels - 5/28/2010, 1:19 PM

CaptainAmerica - 5/28/2010, 1:21 PM

InTylerWeTrust - 5/28/2010, 1:30 PM
Or maybe McAvoy's in talks for Kick Ass 2? O_o

Maybe he could be a pretty good Cyclops, but I dunno. I really hope McAvoy's only in flashbacks.
LEEE777 - 5/28/2010, 1:33 PM
SHAMAN @ Oh lol!

JOHNSON i reckon would make a cool BOBBY DRAKE though hopefully he just stays in KICK ASS lol! : P
BillyBlack - 5/28/2010, 1:34 PM
Bummer for Arnold Jackson.

I hope the shoe box they bury him in is comfortable.

Webster, you're on the clock.

Too soon, Tea! :S

Oh shit, what if Tea didn't mean it as a joke, does that make me the one that inadvertently said it?!?!?!
Shaman - 5/28/2010, 1:45 PM
Tea- Po-po-po-po-poker face, po-po-poker face, ma-ma-ma-maaahhhh...
Shaman - 5/28/2010, 1:48 PM
Hey... are you guys getting the vibe that Fox is actually gonna make Charles part of the team and the same age as all the rest of the X-men? Cause the chills i'm getting right now aren't a very good feeling at all...
Shaman - 5/28/2010, 1:53 PM
I'm just worried in general, i can't pin it on one single thing right now...

Hey tea... i think we're finally alone... *giggle* stop that *giggle*...
Shaman - 5/28/2010, 1:58 PM
I think he's the least of our worries actually. He might not be the best at what he'll do but i think he's decent enough for the job.

Oooh hoo hoo hoo... that's bbbig! :))
JoshWilding - 5/28/2010, 2:04 PM
Who's he playing - Magneto? :P

I actually cant think of a character he'd be well suited for. Plus, he comes across as such an asshole in the interviews I've seen him in I'm not sure I'd want him in First Class anyway! Saying that, despite Vaughn's involvement the movie cant get much worse anyway thanks to Fox so let him play Jean Grey for all I care!
Shaman - 5/28/2010, 2:09 PM
JoshW- Good point actually...

Well guys, i'm empty... uh i mean, i'm out! Have a nice weekend :)

Actually... that didn't sound any better...
ChristopherM - 5/28/2010, 2:11 PM

I think he'd make a great young Magneto....if anyone has seen Nowhere Boy where he plays John Lennon...this kid is seriously talented..I doubt they'll be including Cyclops from what I've been hearing this is basically going to be the Magneto Origins story mixed with First Class elements...we'll see Hank McCoy (Beast) before we ever see Scott Summers...
BillyBlack - 5/28/2010, 2:11 PM
tea and Shaman

Hahah yeah... sorry Gary.

You Rocked

DogsOfWar - 5/28/2010, 2:12 PM
@Tea-That's not what his finger is on!

I saw an earlier tweet saying "The passing of Gary Coleman will make me start to appreciate the little things in life"

I wondered the same thing Shaman. Is he joking or am I the sick one.
Phinehas - 5/28/2010, 2:17 PM
Why do you people have to belittle the man?? You guys don't seem to be short on jokes. You're all small. Very small.

May FOX's X-Men franchise die too!
PurpleHaze92 - 5/28/2010, 2:30 PM
I think he might be the Younger Magneto
droopy1317 - 5/28/2010, 2:37 PM
yes, bring him in. i think he's too young to play a young magneto though. maybe cyclops
Rhys - 5/28/2010, 2:45 PM
Hmmm, I like McAvoy as Prof. X, and Johnson might have potential as Magneto... Maybe First Class will focus more on Xavier and Magnus then the first team...
TheAmazingSmitty - 5/28/2010, 2:45 PM
@ Phinehas
At least you're the bigger man for realizing that. ;)
Phinehas - 5/28/2010, 2:49 PM
It takes little imagination to see through the tiny lies.
ChristopherM - 5/28/2010, 3:32 PM
@teabag

you're the biggest Debbie downer..it must be the lack of natural sunlight in the UK..lol
ChristopherM - 5/28/2010, 3:42 PM
I love how people are so negative about this film without the full cast even been announced or even a villain being confirmed...Matthew Vaughn is a talented director he isn't going to purposely make a horrible film...plus Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, Stardust) is doing rewrites on the script...both director and writer are rabid comic book fans so don't be quick to put the project down..

I would personally love to see a period "origin" film set in the 1950-60s focused on just a young Xavier and Magneto...I don't think you really need to force Cyclops or other X-Men in a prequel like this.....I think we'll get enough current X-Men members with X-Men 4 which is still in development... We've seen what happens with Wolverine when they put too many cameos in...
ChristopherM - 5/28/2010, 3:45 PM
@teabag

I'm jk, did you see Johnson in Nowhere Boy?
1chris2 - 5/28/2010, 4:05 PM
if thats charles and hes really young then cyclops and the others are not going to be in this film. man marvel needs the rights to their properties. im going to stop watching fox's and the other studios versions of x-men,spiderman ,and the others until marvel/disney ghet the rights back. come on people back me up.
Phinehas - 5/28/2010, 4:23 PM
Whittled-down humor and puny puns minimize the seriousness of this news.
Bandrews1 - 5/28/2010, 4:29 PM
He was great in Kick-Ass so I would to see him in X-Men: First Class. I don't know who he could play though, but it might be obvious he would be Cyclops.
