James Gunn On Why 'Baby Groot' Didn't Want To Get Caught By Drax At The End Of GOTG

During his appearance on Doug Loves Movies, James Gunn reveals that there was a cut scene in Guardians of the Galaxy that would have made the Baby Groot-Drax end scene much clearer.“There was actually a scene that we cut from the movie where big Groot was dancing to 'Livin’ Thing' by ELO.” Drax wasn't impressed, “And it wasn't such an elaborate dance. It was more that he was just moving up and down like this, and Drax was dismissive and gave him this look like he was a loser when he did that.” This would explain why Drax gave Baby Groot the “death stare” once he thought he saw him move. Gunn then jokes that the first thing Drax the Destroyer would do if he was the Mayor of a town would be to outlaw dancing. “Dancing is ludicrous to Drax. I don’t think he understands it. If Drax owned a town, if he was a mayor, the first law would be no dancing.” He then continues, "But yeah, so at the end of the movie, little baby Groot didn't want to get caught dancing, because he would kill him.” Luckily, Drax didn’t lose his temper at the “dance off” scene causing that whole plan to fail. Anyhow, even though Drax doesn't like dancing, I’m sure Baby Groot's dance is something that you can’t get enough of! Sound off below with your thoughts!
