After Ridley Scott won a Golden Globe for The Martian, talk backstage turned to his next film, Alien Covenant. The 78 year old director revealed that he's going to tackle the next Alien movie in a very different way. "I think I'm going to do a pretty hard R." He then revealed how the first Alien (1979) inspired his decision to make "Covenant", scarier than most films in the franchise. "I always remember walking down the edge in Saint Louis when we were previewing [Alien]. I couldn’t sit through the film one more time. I walked down the edge into the kitchen scene when John Hurt started to bring up his breakfast. That moment, I realized how pretty scary the film was… I felt a sense of responsibility that I had gone too far because it was extreme. I’m going to try and do that again this year, but much worse."

This won't be the first film in the franchise that's rated R - in fact aside from Paul W.S. Anderson’s PG-13 Alien vs. Predator, every other installment has gone for the more adult rating. However, the way Scott is talking, he's going to take scary to a whole different level in this film. What exactly does he has planned? I guess we're going to have to wait and see when Alien: Covenant hits theaters on October 6, 2017. What's your take on this? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
